The service was great, part of the reason why I gave I give it a 2.5 rather than a 2. The udon soup was great, really flavorful. However, the fish cakes and carrots in the udon soup were not fully warmed it or softened, it seem like they just threw it in from the fridge and hoped the soup would make it soften up, but it wasn't hot enough. The chirashi bowl was pretty average, but more expensive at $21, probably would be more satisfied if it was $15-17 or so.

I liked this place. Japantown has quite the range in prices at dinner places, and this is one of the few on the more affordable end. I got the yakiniku, which came with a side of miso soup for $13.50 total. Service was quick and efficient. If you are looking for a place with incredible ambiance and wild, melt-in-your-mouth flavors you will not find it here. However, if you are looking for a simple meal that will leave you satisfied and a place to sit and chat, I would recommend it.

3.5 stars, but since we can't give half stars, lowering to 3 because Z commented that this place was "good, but forgettable."The boys and I decided to check out OSAKAYA for dinner with Wendell and Veda on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. We arrived around 7 PM sans reservations and were seated almost immediately.Located next door to NANDE-YA, OSAKAYA looks almost like a sister restaurant to its neighbour, but the smaller and cleaner sibling.Below are some of the food items that we ordered:Gyoza - Good Appetizer.Mix Tempura - This Appetizer of "3 pcs shrimp & veggie" wasn't as crispy as it looked, but was still enjoyable nonetheless.Chicken Teriyaki Osakaya Bento - Z ordered this. He said that it was good, but not memorable. Standard.Chicken Katsu Osakaya Bento - This was V's entrée for which he gave a thumbs up rating.Chicken Katsu Curry Udon - I enjoyed this meal, but must admit that the Chicken Katsu wasn't unforgettably delicious like NANDE-YA's.Service was fast and friendly; however, we were given our check without being asked if we were interested in dessert. I don't remember being checked in on, either.

My niece and I stopped in while visiting Japan town. It's a small restaurant there in the middle of Japan town. It was comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and efficient. I got the Bento box with the tonkatsu and California rolls. My niece got the same. we enjoyed our meal. It came with Miso soup rice and salad. but it was a nice we enjoyed our selves. It was good, but not best.

Tried it out since it was next to Nandeya and had a much shorter line. Food was ok, service was fairly fast, and the ambiance was ok although a bit loud (we were there during the cherry blossom festival).I was craving Ikura and overall it hit the spot although the seaweed was so tough that I couldn't easily break it with my teeth so I had to pick them off with my chopsticks

Food - meh! I got the unagi don but it was just so plain! For the price, I was expecting a dash of color at least but all it had was hard white rice (my jasmine rice from home tastes better!), sprinkle of yellow strands that I figured out were thinly sliced scrambled egg, some pickled ginger then the cut unagi and its sauce. The whole bowl was hard rice! Mmm, I wasn't happy. The takoyaki was good, thats a plus, the misp soup was a meh. The beef yakitori was meh too. Service - fast and friendly, we got seated right away... in hindsight, this place didn't have any lines that's why we went here. I didn't yelp it because what could go wrong when you are in a japanese restaurant in Jtown??? Ambiance - meh! There was a nice theme going on, wooden roof slabs, then they turned it into storage. So imagine eating with bug boxes of their stuff overhead. Overall, i shouldve checked it out before going in. Don't make the same mistake I did!

They were busy since it was Saturday night. We got to seat right away. The waitress was quite rushing, she seemed like she didn't like her job. We ordered 3 udons. They were flavorful, but quite salty. The portion is huge, it can feed a person pretty well. The price is reasonable for the size.

Stopped by for lunch and was surprisingly seated right away despite Japantown being super crowded for the Cherry Blossom Festival. We ordered the chashu ramen, mix tempura, and crazy salmon sushi, all were very good and the portions were large enough to share. The sushi was my favorite, super flavorful with a perfect blend of ingredients. Prices were also very reasonable, especially compared to other restaurants in Japantown, so we'll definitely keep this place in mind the next time we come here!
