I was in North America recently and stayed at a hotel in Union Square. It was Monday, and I remember thinking about where to go for lunch. Then it hit me: 'I haven't been to Orale Orale in years, probably since the year before COVID.' So, I walked down to the FiDi, and the restaurant was open and ready, so I sat down and ordered a veggie burrito and a lime Jarritos without even looking at the menu. I tell you, their salsa is something to behold. That, combined with fresh corn tortilla chips and a hot burrito filled with refried beans (my favorite), rice, and more, shared the top spot for the best burrito I have eaten in years. This place is a gem in a part of the city where good, cheap Mexican food is hard to come by.

Orale Orale: A San Francisco Financial District InstitutionCraving a burrito, I asked for recommendations from two colleagues. Both mentioned Orale Orale; off I went! Established in 1989, Orale Orale is tucked on the corner of Sacramento and Dumm streets, a place I have walked by many times on my way to work but never walked in to eat.Choosing simplicity, I ordered a Carnitas Burrito, with all the toppings and a spicy kick. The order-taker was friendly and quick despite the restaurant's lunchtime buzz. The place was packed, suggesting its popularity amongst the regular lunchtime crowd. While waiting for my order, inviting plates, including a couple of combination plates, passed by on their way to the tables. My to-go burrito arrived in ten minutes, its impressive size and weight promising satiation. My first bite at the office was a burst of flavor. The pinto beans, rice, and meat were perfectly balanced, and the generous portions of spicy salsa, guacamole, sour cream, and cheese improved each bite.Fully satisfied, I declared myself a happy customer. Would I return? Absolutely, for a filling and delicious Mexican meal.

Food was eh. I crave carne asada fries about once a month so decided to try the dish at this nearby spot. I was a little disappointed. Salsa isn't spicy; it's just like tomato sauce. Guacamole is the lightest green almost fake looking guac. Cheese and carne and sour cream made my fries somewhat enjoyable. But nothing spectacular about those fries to make me return. Maybe I'll try their burrito or enchiladas one day, or maybe I won't. Workers were very nice and helpful though.

I absolutely LOVE Orale Orale. Everything from the food to the customer service in this place is top tier. Orale is located in FiDi, right across from the Embarcadero Center. It can get pretty busy during the lunch hours, but I've never had to wait to be seated or wait longer than 10 minutes for my take out. I usually grab the Surf and Turf Supremo and pay around $18 with tax. The Surpremo is HUGE. It can honestly feed two people. And when I tell you that they don't skimp on the shrimp or the steak, believe me. I've brought several colleagues AND catered them for a lunch meeting. This is authentic Mexican food (and service) at its finest. Trust me when I tell you, don't sleep on Orale Orale. You won't be disappointed.

Got lunch here for the first time ever this week. I got the grilled chicken burrito. It was very simple and traditional. Their house made hot sauce really elevated it. The place itself is like most taquerias. Basic tables and chairs, but plenty of them. Lots of seating for large groups. As soon as I walked in, they were ready to take my order. I had a few questions which were quickly, and very politely answered. There are several burrito places downtown. But I am now putting this one into the rotation. Although it is simple, it's very authentic. I'll definitely be back.

If you want to enjoy authentic Mexican food, look no further than Orale Orale, located in FIDI. I love Chimichungas, and not many places know how to make a really good one like Orale. This place has been around for over 30 years, and there's a reason why. Their food are made fresh daily and cooked to perfection. The salsa and guacamole are always fresh and flavorful. It gets really busy at lunchtime, so plan ahead.

Great to see this place is still around 25 years since it was one of my favorite lunch spots when I lived in the Bay Area. Breakfast burrito with chorizo was on point and the salsa is still as good as I remember it.

The most bland chicken burrito I've ever eaten. I'd rather have gotten Taco Bell. Their meat is seasoned at least. The burrito portion was large so I'm giving it 2 stars.
