Onigilly - San Francisco

So glad to have seen this store while sightseeing and passing by. These onigiris are the best I've tasted anywhere, even better than my favorite ones at Yaya's in NYC. The prices are worth it, as each was under $5. The unagi (braised eel) was the best - so flavorful. The spicy bacon was way too spicy for my baby taste. The snow crab was tasty as well, despite eating it hours after it was made.

Sadly may be the last time I order in from here. Waited 20+ minutes today after the staff did not inform me that their machines were broken. Did not have someone up front letting guests know of the situation so I (yes, another patron) had to tell people that their machine is broken and they were closed as they were walking in confused. Staff could not help with a cancellation or refund of order. Again, really love this place for the quick and convenient eats, when it is. Slowly losing love on this lunch spot.

Good workplace lunch spot. No wait on a Tuesday at noon to order at the computer, maybe 5-10 minutes for my food to come out. No matter how long I keep Onigilly waiting, I still wouldn't forget to let the once pop-up cart brand know how much I love a big bountiful salad bowl with almost all ingredients added. From hijiki to furikake, all with the lemon garlic I chosen, my customized Zen Vegan Bowl was a light weight leafy green powerhouse! Of course, every ingredient I get to choose are of good quality; still, I kinda go overboard when choosing to create a healthier option. I barely used any of the selfservice feature since I can't possibly pay with my credit card. At least the boys of Onigilly were doing a decent good job. I also saw how certain customers have made their takeout order in advance. As for me, I like to get my order done too sweet.

Presentation is cute! Loved each of the onigiris! My fave was the eel and the snow crab, super delicious!. Anyways, service can definitely be improved as we waited possibly 20 mins for my order, but then again, the chinatown parade was going on outside, so that could have contributed to it.

Love a light lunch option! More choices beyond the onigiri now (soups, salads and bowls)!

I have had their onigiris once a couple years back, and they were disappointing. I decided to revisit them but saw that they had poke bowls, so I had that instead. Signature poke bowl - 3.5/5, 1 scoop each of shio tuna, soy salmon, ponzu salmon, and imitation crab meat with a ton of veggies you can choose to add. Decent portions overall-- I was kind of surprised how wide the bowl was. Not sure about the quality of the fish but it seemed decent. I think I would give their onigiris another try.

Best fast casual Japanese food in the city! Ever since visiting Japan at the beginning of last year, I haven't been able to find any casual Japanese food I really like in California until this place. I got the custom bowl with eel, imitation crab, and teriyaki tofu for protein and a mixed base of salad and rice. It was super satisfying for dinner on a rainy day, and I felt full but not heavy. The portion size was just right, and the ingredients were fresh and yummy.

Delicious takeout only spot with plentiful vegan options!! I got 3 onigiri for $13, I would say a fair price - it was certainly filling. I was starving and downed all 3 before I could take photos, and was pleased by the quality and freshness of the rice. If I worked in the area I would come here all the time for a lunch bite!I got the eggplant, seaweed (more of a dried seaweed than a kelp), and mushroom. The seaweed was the best, but I enjoyed the other two as well. Cheers to vegan variety!

This place is great! We needed a little snack while walking the "streets of San Francisco" walking up and down the steep hills and enjoying the sites when we happened upon this place. It's a take out spot, but it's spacious and ordering on the tablet is easy and prepared very quickly. There's a giant board that includes all the options, and there is something for everyone! We opted for the eggplant musubi and a green tea and it was simply delicious! I would come back again to try more of their offerings.
