I enjoyed my time at Nua Thai Kitchen. It has a lively atmosphere without feeling overbearing, spacious seating and soothing decor. Our designated service staff was kind, attentive and responsive--in addition to other service staff who "jumped in" when they were all busy. The demand of their food was clear by the number of people already eating when I got there. The actual taste of the food was flavorful, fresh, and has quality produce--all with a homemade flair was absolutely delicious.I had coconut soup (with chicken) and side of white rice. My date had deep fried pastry filled savory potatoes and vegetables sautéed in noodles. All of it was prepared in a manner that was thoughtful, care and investment in its remarkable taste! My only complaint is that I didn't have an empty enough stomach to taste more of the options on the menu.

Nua Thai Kitchen replaces Pla Daek with a new decor and a different variant of Thai cuisine. Offerings (usual with a variance): apps, sides, drinks, salads, curry & soup, specialty dishes, street food. Can order at counter or at table. Food came in 20 minutes, definitely made to order. Slurps: Tom Yum Young Coconut Soup (15.95)-ordered with veggies. Medium spicy. Proteins +$. Some reviews mentioned "bland" proteins...-tom yum component tart with the blend of lemongrass, galanga, kefir lime leaves, lime squeeze. -fresh young coconut slices added a twinge of sweetness to the savoryness of the veggie broth created by boiling white mushrooms, white onions, cherry tomatoes, green bean, parsley, lettuce, green peppers, carrots & wilted broccoli. -the medium spiciness of thai chili was unexpectedly very pronounced & concentrated causing me to violently cough for a few seconds. Thinking medium would be mild, i was drinking the savory broth too fast. Wasn't prepared for the heat. Thai chilies varies in heat levels, not a constant.*declined rice to dilute heat since i seldom eat rice. Nonetheless i was comped a Thai Tea to ease my discomfort. Tea ok but too sweet for my palate.4.5 stars. Soup a splendid mix of savory, spicy, tart & sweet notes. Would re-order but would drink broth slowly in smaller portions

Newer isn't always better, and sometimes change isn't a good thing.I really liked Pla Daek the old restaurant that used to be here. In fact, I haven't been so sad in a restaurant closing for a long time. I felt like I was in mourning.Speaking of mourning, I was so dissapointed and heartbroken with this new place. The new menu and higher prices must be going to their remodel.Awful, and I do mean awful duck larb salad. Weird chewy yet bone filled duck that I couldn't eat. It just sat on my plate while I ate their sour tasting salad and thought about the japanese place across the street.I didn't even bother with the mango sticky rice because I felt it would be a disappointment, and a hit to my wallet. Like multiple punches from Tyson. My friend's teriyaki chicken thing tasted like the one you get at the mall. You know the one where they chase you down and try to give you a small sample of chicken on a toothpick? Yeah, that's the one that serve here as Thai food at triple the price with some fried rice and sauce.I'm sure they're laughing at us in the back with the crazy mark up.I can't vouch for this place. The food is meh and expensive and not at all memorable for the right reasons.

I was so surprised about the authentic Thai dishes I had at Nua Thai. I had previously eaten at this location before it's change in ownership and the Thai food then was good but this was even better! Highlights that i liked: Sticky rice - this was honestly so interesting, it was like a mochi. I don't know exactly what it was but i liked it! It's just different to have as an appetizer. Crispy sticky rice - this reminds me of the laos sticky rice my friend makes and i absolutely love it so i would highly recommend this! Drunken Noodle - you can't go wrong with drunken noodle. So flavorful and perfect spice level! Shortrib Noodles - the meat was so tender and the soup was very flavorful. Nice to have on a cold weather! I'm from LA so most of the Thai food we have isn't as elevated. It was really nice to see different types of Thai food outside of your typical Drunken Noodle, Satay skewers, etc. It also almost felt like some of the dishes were fused with Cambodian, Laos, and other southeastern Asian cuisines. The pricing is also a bit steep if you ask me BUT is very average relative to the bay area. I don't mind splurging for Nua Thai and if I'm ever in the area again, I'd love to come back!

This place is now one of my favorite Thai restaurants! Came here with family on a Wednesday evening for dinner and there was no wait. It was our first time here so we ordered family style so we can try everything. The place is clean and well lit. The staff are very friendly and service is fast.SakooServed steaming hot with fresh lettuce. Great presentation and good appetizer for sharing.Crispy Tom Yum CalamariOne of the best calamari I've had. Big calamari pieces and fried to perfection. I don't remember much about the Tom Yum flavor but the aioli was a good pairing.Som Tum (papaya salad)Fresh and spicy. The sauce has the perfect consistency; it wasn't too watery.Massamun short rib The meat was soft and fell right off from the bone. The curry was delicious and rich. It was perfect to go with rice.Nua BBQThe grilled pork was juicy and flavorful. The sticky rice was aromatic and everything tasted great with the sauce.Pad ThaiSaucy but not soggy. Flavor is on point.Basil with ChickenThis dish has a beautiful oil shine to it when served. Flavorful but on the saltier side; perfect with rice as well.Mango Sticky RicePortion is much smaller than i thought. Shareable between 2 people. I was surprised that the mango is ripe even though it's not in season.Thai Tea RotiDessert on the house because they ran out of thai ice cream. They replaced it with vanilla ice cream instead. The combination of hot crispy roti and vanilla ice cream is bomb!

What a nice experience! The husband and I came here for one of our very rare lunch outings without kid. We always chose something that she would probably not like (adventurous and or spicy), but decided that we will take her with us next time, since she would LOVE it there! And they have enough non-spicy dishes.I haven't been at this location before it became Nua, so I don't know whether they just kept the interior design - nevertheless, I loved it. What a breath of fresh air with the plant theme on the walls and the airy feeling overall. Loved the colorful dishes and the amazing presentation! What a treat. We had summer rolls (amazing with mango inside and a great peanut sauce - the green chili sauce was too spicy for me), a curry dish and the Tom Ka soup. All was extraordinarily good. Portions were big and we took a good chunk home for dinner. Service was fast and cordial and always on top of everything. Me likey...

We were in the mood for Thai food and decided to put in a pick up order. We called a few times before getting through, once we did, it was easy to place our order which included pad thai, yellow curry with tofu, Tom Yum soup, garlic chicken with fried rice, and sakoo (mushroom filled dumplings). Appreciate that menus online denoting gluten free items as well as them using gluten free sauces enabling more people to have options. We went for pick up and parking was scarce so we quickly ran in to get the food. We were immediately helped. The restaurant itself has beautiful interior and nice vibes to sit down and eat.The food itself was good. Our favorite were the mushroom dumplings given how unique they were as well as the garlic fried rice. The fried chicken didn't have much meat and a bit more fat than what. We would have preferred. Despite requesting mild spice levels several times, the Tom Yum soup and Pad Thai were spicier than expected. That said, we'd still consider returning for another visit!

Have not had time to write a review for a little bit but felt compelled to write one for Nua Thai Kitchen. We were in the neighborhood to buy my husband's favorite cake for his birthday. My husband and I were both in the mood for some South Asia cuisine and I suggested that we go to Pla Daek. We walked up and down Piedmont Ave and was unable to locate the "temporarily closed" restaurant. Come to find Nua had taken its place. They have decent Yelp reviews and so we decided to give it a try. The dining experience was good. But what impressed us the most was the presentation, flavor and smell of the cuisine. We tried 3 things. The fragrant tapioca based mushroom dumplings (Sakoo), the crispy "tum yum" calamari and the duck larb. All three exceeded expectations in all the way that mattered!

This place took over Pla Dek, so my spouse and I decided to check it out. The inside looks pretty similar to the previous place, which is smart because it costs less in terms of money and waste. When I went about a week ago, it had a soft opening menu. The two of us ordered a few items to share and didn't have any leftovers. The Sai Oua Croquette had a good crisp. The flavor of the patty was light. I found it to be spicy, but I can't really handle spicy food. The server said this location intentionally lowered the spice in the menu compared to other locations, so spice lovers probably won't think this is spicy enough. When we ordered the Shortribs Noodle, they clarified it came with egg noodles, which is different from the menu. However, I do think the egg noodles is a better fit for the flavor profile than rice noodles. The meat was tasty, and the dish was pretty flavorful, though by the end it got a bit too heavy for me. We also had Mango Sticky Rice for dessert. They made it with pandan, so this was different from the typical dessert. The mango was soft and was lightly sweet. I would've liked the rice to be a bit drier and less soft to provide a bigger contrast, though it was still good. The sauce on the top was a tasty addition. The server was really nice. I like that they use reusables (especially the reusable chopsticks, which is rare) and am interested in coming back to try their other dishes. ECO NOTES (Dine-In)Dine-In Dishware: Reusable plates and bowlsNapkins: Single-use disposable paper napkinUtensils: Metal fork & spoon as well as reusable wooden chopsticks Water cups: Medium-sized reusable glass cups

Open for only 7 days and they're in soft opening phase. Hubby saw it on google maps and we were seated immediately. They are still waiting for their alcohol license. We ordered the roti with an extra roti, khao soi with braised beef, pad see ew with chicken, and mango with sticky rice. The Sakoo was sold out but we wanted to try that and will get it next time. The roti was crispy, chewy, and the yellow curry was delicious. Glad we ordered the extra roti because the 2 kids and 2 adults in our party inhaled the appetizer. The khao soi was really excellent - flavorful and they present it with a trio of chili options. The noodles were the perfect level of al dente chewiness. The mustard greens on the side were just the right mix of sour and salty in addition to the lime wedge and red onion slices that come with the dish. We also enjoyed the pad see ew which was not too salty or too sweet as it is at some Thai restaurants. The pandan sticky rice and sauce with thin slices of mango on top was presented beautifully and we loved the play of delicate flavors. Not too sweet or salty. Service was great and their bathroom and restaurant was clean. Nice new addition to the area and we will be back. Can't wait to see what alcoholic beverages they offer once their license comes in! I also like that they have kid plates, cups, and utensils
