Great Nepal-Indian cuisine at a great price. We ordered:-Chicken Momos: they are like dumplings, good but nothing special -Butter Naan: the bread was nice but as always with the delivery it comes a bit dry, so its never the same -Butter chicken: butter chicken was really good, a bit more buttery than normal and super creamy-Baigan Bhartha was also tasty and a bit spicy but fineGreat food, traditional and the quality/ price is unbeatable.

I guess this review is kind of Olda, as in it's not Newa-nuff to be of use to any would-be diners. It was A-OK, right down the middle on all counts. Didn't do anything spectacular, sometimes screwed up delivery orders, but usually made up for it by correcting the mistake or (more often) giving you something good on the house for your trouble.I always did delivery, so I don't know what the ambiance or service were like. This place was the poster child for three stars--who Newa?Sorry.

It was a short trip to San Francisco. I was off for President's Day so I took advantage of the clear forecast (so over our cold and rainy season) and did some volunteer work w/ Gavin before wandering Union Square a bit. I had no agenda. Gavin saw a hot dog cart across from Old Navy so I bought him one and a bag of chips. Knowing he had just ate I ordered gluttonously for myself. I ordered chicken momos, chicken tikka masala w/ rice and garlic naan. It was a huge and heavy meal, I was already planning on bringing half of it home. Little did I know Gavin wanted to try it and ended up stealing it so I walked up to the register as we were still feasting to order the same exact thing (minus the momos) to-go. The momos were delicious!!! I do not know what kind of dipping sauce that came w/ it but I was gobbling it all up. The chicken tikka masala was tender and so creamy and rich. We both loved it. The garlic naan was out of this world! Such a high caloric meal but oh so worth it. The guy laughed because I ordered another, haha.So yesterday I went to an Indian market to buy some spices and yogurt and have successfully (though not authentic) chicken tikka masala for little man for dinner this week. We're both so obsessed w/ this dish. They offer cold water at the front.

I was going to give 4 stars but since they offer free delivery, I bumped up to 5 :PThis is a total hole in the wall, located in a sketch area of Tenderloin. Definitely worth it to get the delivery since its free. Its a very small joint with only maybe 3 tables. We ate in because my friend wanted to get out of the office for lunch. I'm so grateful she wanted to try this place, because it was delicious! My first time trying momos! and they were so bomb. We ordered the chicken. The skin was perfectly steamed, just the right amount of cuecue but firm/dry enough for a good texture. They are huge (larger than dumplings) which make them more satisfying to eat I think. And the spicy orange sauce that came with it had great flavor and spice. The Aloo Paratha was my friend's recommendation and I did not enjoy it as much. It was soggy and heavy, when I would have preferred a crispy lighter naan. The Newari Kaja was so fun and interesting to try! The crispy cracker thing was my favorite! I think its called papadum? It was so light and crispy, and also had some type of seeds in it that added a great flavor. I loved eating that with the meat (sorry not sure what it was) which was sauteed with onions. This dish also had a great smoky slightly spicy flavor. The potato salad and the beans were just okay in my opinion. And the hardboiled egg was lightly fried, which was new to me. Not a fan of eggs made this way...The guy at the counter was not very helpful with explaining the menu and dishes though. They also have free chai, which is quite strong. I was super wired after returning to work.Anyway, I would totally order delivery from this restaurant next time and try some more indian dishes, and definitely more momos!

From what I've experienced in my delivery orders, Newa hits the spot if I'm craving food Indian food!!I've tried their Aloo Sag & chicken tikka masala. Oh boy! Their aloo sag is s creamy, decadent spinach dream!! Get ready to loosen up them pants if you're getting this fish. Spinach is fresh and potatoes are cooked just right. I enjoy this dish with a side of rice, which is a must! The tikka masala is so flavorful, that it makes my mouth water just thinking about it. I usually get medium spicy, which is just right if you want a kick, but not have your mouth on fire. The tikka masala is also very decadent, lots of buttery dipping sauce that goes great with naan, especially garlic naan. I love how Newa delivers, which is very convenient. They are mostly on time and.. seriously I love seeing their faces ... holding my brown bag filled with goodies.

First time trying Nepali food while in the Bay Area and I must say, Fried Chili Chicken Momo's are BOMB! Like these are fried dumplings with a spicy savory twist and they were soooo good! We ordered potato salad which tasted like achar but I wasn't a huge fan. We also ordered a goat curry but the flavor of the meat was super gamey and the curry was very similar to an Indian style. All in all, not the best but not the worst, I'll def be back for those MOMO'S though! Also, the establishment is small with minimal seating. It's not the best in terms of ambience but the pricing is affordable. It's also maybe not in the best area either.

I figured I would hurry up and review this place since it changed on me before I could review its previous identity, Ali's Pizzeria, where I ate half of a chicken tikka pizza and left the other half for a street person who kept staring at it while I ate. Yep, the corner of Ellis and Jones deep in the Tenderloin is not for everybody, but if you steal enough courage, you may want to check out its new guise as a Nepalese eatery, a surprising find since Red Chilli is just up a block on Jones serving a pretty similar menu with an actual dining room. This place still looks like a pizzeria which is a bit of a shame as it means people come in here looking for handouts without any hesitation. The setting also hides the fact that they may be making the best chicken momos in town. Red Chilli's are quite good and so are the ones served at my other recent find, Cuisine of Nepal in the Outer Mission. However, I may have to give the crown to the $10.99 plate of Steamed Chicken Momos served here because they have the unexpected spicy kick of the keema filling, and the tomato dipping sauce provided a nice cool contrast (photo: http://bit.ly/2fnE1Pj), I also like the fact that they give you ten instead of the usual six or eight, which justified the higher-than-expected price. I did my best to eat there to show my support of their business, but three vagrants came in and out in quick succession. The first two didn't harass me, but the crazy woman who kept yelling stole my can of Diet Coke before I could finish it. To the owners' credit, they stood up to each one and replaced my Diet Coke with no fuss. I really appreciated their attitude, especially the small, sturdy Nepali woman who wasn't about to take guff from anyone.I took my $10.99 Butter Chicken home to savor as it was a couple of BBQ chicken thighs swimming in a creamy tomato sauce with plenty of butter and a hint of spice (photo: http://bit.ly/2fE4etV). They were kind and gave me a complimentary takeout box of Steamed Basmati Rice for my trouble (photo: http://bit.ly/2fEbPIM), and it was just the right accompaniment for the butter chicken. Good people here.FOOD - 4.5 stars...the best chicken momos in town...seriouslyAMBIANCE - 2 stars...well, I can't lie about that, but they keep it cleanSERVICE - 5 stars...good people who look out for their customersTOTAL - 4 stars...a solid score for a place that's more conducive to takeout orders...here's hoping they get a real restaurant space one day

The location isn't the best and the dine-in seating is very sparse, but the food makes up for it! A bunch of tasty Nepalese specialties alongside some typical Indian restaurant options. Judging by all the delivery guys rushing out of this place, seems their main business is delivery.Chicken Momo: A very hearty order of 10 large dumpling. Each dumpling is full of nicely spiced chicken and a thick steamed dough wrapper. Instead of the soy/vinegar dipping sauce, they give a very pleasant pepper purée. I don't eat Nepalese food often, but when I do I always end up getting momos. And these definitely seemed to have a more flavorful filling. Chili Paneer: I really liked the sticky sweet and spicy sauce and all the nicely charred onions and peppers. The paneer was thinly sliced and seared, making it seem a bit dry. Also, would have liked to see more paneer.Garlic Naan: I love me some garlic naan and these did not disappointed. Seemed to be a good bit of butter on it, so even better!Mango Lassi: Pretty standard. I enjoyed it.

This review is for DELIVERY through Yelp Eat24.Ordered from Yelp Eat24 and the estimate was 45 min to 60 min but the food arrived in 25 minutes! Woohoo. Free delivery, just add tip for the driver.FOOD:Chicken Tikka Masala: little on the lighter side, maybe the butter chicken has a richer flavor. Good and the chicken was still tender. Lots of chicken tikka masala gets dry and tough chicken but this one still could be broken off with a fork.Baigan Bhartha: really tasty. creamy and flavorful. spicy. I loved this dish.Aloo Saag: creamier than normal saag so if you like the real earthy spinach flavor, this might not be for you since this has a much creamier flavor. a little spicy too.Fish Tikka: tasty and tenderRice: I ordered the wrong rice. I just wanted plain rice but apparently had a moment and ordered the pulao rice and it was full of raisins. Sigh, that was a lot of work to pick those out. Next time I will be more careful. I think I ordered it because I saw a picture and on my screen it looked like plain rice with a few peas. And the Basmati Rice didn't have a photo. So goes to show, spend a little more time reading the menu.Roti: it was more like whole wheat naan rather than the normal thinner roti. So if you're expecting that, just order naan instead, unless you like whole wheat naan.Free delivery though Yelp Eat 24 and usually they have a weekend coupon for $2 off or something, so why not try it!Easy and fast delivery. I would order again! The driver didn't get out of his car, which was a bit odd, but it's ok.I have no idea what the restaurant looks like but I like the food.

Ordered for delivery and we got the 1/2 order specials. We ordered tikka masala, butter chicken, and saag aloo with a side order of garlic naan. The tikka masala was identical in taste to the butter chicken and both were heavy in tomato taste and lacked bold flavors within the sauce and chicken. Personally, I would skip both of these. The garlic naan smelled like the garlic was not cooked all the way through and the pungent scent reminded me of a wet rag. The naan also did not carry well which was expected but the only saving grace here was the size. I would also skip this. The best thing here was the saag aloo. The depth of flavor was lacking, but it was creamy and enjoyed this over the rest. Just as a reference we ordered it spicy. Unlikely to order from here again since I have had better dishes elsewhere.
