Check the prices they charge you before you pay!I bought some mangoes and bananas. I noticed she overcharged me on the banana price (per pound). She corrected it. Later at home, I noticed she overcharged me by 25% more on the mangoes too!! I can't believe I bought 2 items and both were overcharged. Just go to 22nd and Irving store 2 doors down. They have better selection anyways.

Came here a few times for groceries since some are better than the stuff at Sunset SuperMarket. But this place is still a hit or miss. I often can only find a single item here that I am interested and that item usually needs to be eaten with a couple days due to it going bad right away.

I still stop off here on occasions to buy Chinese goods. They have two main checkers, both Asian females. One, who wears blk rim glasses and is courteous, while the other is taller with long hair and is very disrespectful. When I see her at the check stand, I usually go someplace else. She yells at the older customers and cannot speak English well. When I buy things from her, she grabs the items from my hand and saysnothing and not even thanks when I pay. She looks at people with disdain. That's why she is relegated to working in these small markets. There is a man with a beard who makes deliveries who might be the manager. He is extremely helpful and courteous. However, this one checker drives people away. Note - the outside awning has a different name like Weng Cheng or something similar.

My favorite little produce market on Irving! Robert J's review is pretty spot on in that there isn't necessarily anything unique about New May Cheung as little grocers like these can be found all throughout the Aves, but the quality of produce here is among the highest I've seen in the 94122 area. Sometimes things are cheaper and sometimes they are more expensive, but I can say that all of the vegetables and fruits I have bought from New May Cheung have tasted better than anything I've bought from 22nd & Irving and Sunset Super. Even though the store is small, they have never not had something I've needed.

They don't have as big a selection as the 22nd and Irving Market two doors down or Sunset Super, but they do have a good selection of exotic fruits. I often walk down Irving and check out all the markets to see what fruits they have and I always end up making a purchase at New May Cheung. They consistently have fruits like cherimoyas, dragonfruit (usually white, but sometimes red flesh variety), rambutans, longan, passionfruit, guavas, and more! If you're searching for a special fruit and can't find it anywhere else, try here!

This store is relatively small and not much in item selections. Still, it serves my needs and is convenient if I want to just got a couple of quick items like milk and banana when I want to shop fast and not go to Sunset Super. For me, the big plus is that they carry Berkeley Farms milk at decent to good prices. Many places like this do not sell milk and they do.

This small grocer packs a punch with excellent produce and most any other item needed to whip a Cantonese meal. The mandarin oranges are cheap and usually sweet. My favorite though are the bags of young tender bok choy; steam them up and you have your greens for the day. They also have an interesting collection of Chinese sausage, pickles and noodles. There's a lady out front selling phone cards, but that may be a different business altogether.

Bought a durian yesterday totaling $83. The cashier looked at the durian I bought, and told me to open it right away. I waited till today to open it, and it's COMPLETELY RAW. called the shop for an exchange, and was told they don't do exchange NOR REFUND, and that the customers are completely buying at their own risk. Very frustrating experience, find it hard to trust this store again.

I love to cook. Love, love, love it. Bored with our standard repertoire, we opted for "thai night" and embarked on a quest across town for ingredients to make papaya salad, curry, and sticky rice/mango from scratch.22nd and Irving fell short of green papaya, shrimp paste, and fish sauce procurement- enter New May Cheung- the dude at the front (clerk?) was SUPER helpful in helping me find what I needed and because of this store- meal ended up being a tremendous success! For all you out there in love with Thai food- this stuff is EASY to make (easy and FAST)- head to this block to stock up your pantry and impress your friends with your new found talent!
