This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants in all of SF! I first came here with my coworkers before seeing a musical at the Orpheum. So obviously, the next time we had tickets for the ballet, I had to make this our pre-show spot. Walking distance from many popular show venues in SF, Montesacro is tucked away in a little alley. The inside has a rustic feel, but it is very cozy and very popular. I adore their pinsas! Each pinsa is so light and flavorful. The classic margherita pinsa is my favorite. Just the perfect flavors of tomato and mozarella. The service is quick, although they can be busy especially before showtimes.

Came here on Friday at 6pm with a party of 5, we made reservations beforehand. Our order: cavolfiori (warm cauliflower salad), cavolo nero (shaved brussel sprouts and kale), pane e olio (house bread that comes with olive oil). We also got 3 pizzas total, the margherita, the casalbertone (it has guanciale and chestnut honey), as well as the ponte mammolo (prosciutto sandwich looking pizza). Total cost was about $30 per person for all 5 of us after the 20% gratuity that is automatically included.Pros:- delicious pizza - my favorite was the casalbertone, the chestnut honey was such a unique taste but wasn't "too much." It was definitely the crowd favorite. I was also a fan of the cauliflower salad, but it's definitely got a spicy kick to it.- The service was really polite and kind, and I do appreciate that the menu is not too large so it's easy to make choices.- The interior is very clean and cute vibes, extremely different from the market street chaos outside haha. It's definitely a hidden gem.- Great location to eat at before specific events in the area, like if you're about to go see a musical at orpheum or if you're near Bill Graham for a concert.- Very fast service when we went on Friday night.- I feel like it was perfect for our party of 5, I wouldn't come with more than 6 people because most of the tables inside accommodate 2-4 people at best.- Portions are not tiny, but also not huge pizzas from regular pizza places. The five of us ate about 3 slices each and had 3 left over after the salad and bread. Cons:- This is not the restaurant's fault and it's probably everyone's number 1 complaint, it's in the tenderloin (I know that it's kind of jarring for people coming from out of town to see the difference between SoMA and the tenderloin like one street over. I usually recommend you come in a group or at least with someone else. Otherwise, high quality ingredients and fantastic food! Felt very authentic

Was a very sus trek to get here, but was such a lovely aesthetic + ambiance inside. We got recommended the cavolfiori, charcuterie board, house bread apps. The cauliflower was a bit too salty for me, but the cheese and all the meats were very high quality. We got two pinsas to split among 4 people. The dough was so fluffy I really loved it. We got the montesacro which had potatoes and lamb sausage. Don't think I've tried potatos on pizza much was a very nuanced flavor. We also got another pinsa (blanking on the name) that had pork on it that was simply delicious.

Dined in on a Thursday without a reservation at 5:30pm. Got a table right away. Interesting decorations especially in the bathroom. Make sure you check it out. Friendly service. Unfortunately they were out of the octopus. Ordered the porchetta which arrived 10 minutes after ordering and the Montesacro pinsa made out of soy, rice and wheat flour which came 15 minutes after. The porchetta is served cold. It was a nice appetizer, good meat to fat ratio. I'm surprised I've never seen or heard of Pinsa before when I toured Italy. I really like the crispy texture of the crust. It was big enough to share with 2 people. I would get again.

Awesome place - it looks like it's been for a little time - Los of character. The food and service were on point. We ordered a couple bottles of wine and drank them all up along with good food. The slow pork dish with fennel was particularly tasty.

Located in SF. Walking distance from the Orpheum Theatre. We went to eat dinner here before the show. Service was okay. Place was cozy inside. It looks small from tbe outside. Nice recommendation from the server. I loved the anti pasta. Delicious! Had two Pinza ad well. The pinza has crunchy crust with savory toppings. I can't finish one serving of Pinza. So we had half of two Pinza left overs.

Came on a weeknight and was seated because we had reservations. However, I don't think it's a place you always need reservation. It is situated in a very sketchy part of the neighborhood so that is something to be mindful of when coming here at night. The food is very Italian-based and was pretty good though it is very carb heavy. We ordered the gnocchi (3/5), maranella (5/5; the burrata and mozzarella was so fresh) and panacotta (5/5, it was so light and not overly sweet; it was also drizzled with olive oil which I thought was very unique). I would come back to try the different pizza and the dessert

Delicious Italian spot in the heart of the city. This is an oasis in the 6th and Market St area. While the walk here can be uncomfortable, due to the unhoused and other troubled residents of the area, it's worth the adventure. The pizzas and cheeses are unique (I believe the style of pies comes from a neighborhood in Rome) and flavorful. To be honest, the service was a little slow and they were out of one or two things. But I devoured my Maranella and the Cauliflower Salad is a real treat. And while the area outside is somewhat unsettling, inside the place is deceptively cozy.

Came here to meet up with two friends, one of whom was in town for work and staying nearby. I was super excited about this place because of the raving reviews and I love pinsa. Overall, food was decent, pinsa was fine but not among my favorites in the city. Ambience was really nice. The inside of the restaurant looked genuinely aged and very pretty, probably preserving what have been here before. The service, however, was not nice. It was not horrible or outright rude, but just low-grade ugh. It was not a busy night, we had a reservation, and we ordered drinks and appetizers. We were also there to enjoy each other's company in the presence of good food. Yet the waiting person simply would not leave us alone about ordering the main course. They also preemptively added 20% tip to our bill. I had every intention of tipping the standard 20%, but usually restaurants would only automatically include it for larger parties. We were only 3, and the bill was not a skimpy sum for 3. Something about it just felt icky. So 2 stars for service, 3-4 stars for food, and I'll probably skip this place next time.
