I spent my birthday dinner here with a group of friends and all I can say is this restaurant is one of the best Italian restos in north beach. Really authentic and the staff was amazing and very attentive. Not to mention we had a great bottle of wine to share.I had the uni pasta here and all I can say is I will come back at the resto to have the same thing I ordered. It was that GOOD. I tried their tomato based sauce and it was perfectly balance. The tiramisu was sooooo good. Don't skip this part. Trust me you won't regret the calories. The arrancini was amazing to share and steak has great seasoning as well. Overall, highly recommend this Italian resto!!!!

Mona Lisa MARE is one of the last remaining authentic Italian restaurants in North Beach. It was recently voted best Italian in the city. The menu is Italian inspired and priced fairly for the quality. It qualifies as fine dining, so expect pasta dishes to range from $28-35Cocktails vary in price: beer $9 handmade espresso martini (quite possibly the best in the city) $19I opted for the seafood pasta based on a staff recommendation. It was amazing, house made pasta, and a generous portion of mixed seafood. I am told Cesar salads are huge. Special thanks to the staff and British bartender! Side note:You can practice your Italian language skills with the staff!

Amazing amazing amazing!!The food is FANTASTIC. Sampled as much as I could and enjoyed every bite.Polpo - grilled squid, tender, savory, to die for. The beets & vegetables dipped into the sauce are the way to go. Barbabietole - beet salad. Beets aren't for everyone, but they are for me. Saffron tonnarelli - crab and scallops smothered in a deliciously creamy yet surprisingly light white wine sauce with a lemon zest. I devoured the whole thing. Tiramisu - I don't even like coffee and I liked it. Cannoli - not a big cannoli person but I liked how soft they were. Limoncello Gelato - not sure if this is what it was called but it is sooo creamy, smooth, and not too sweet! The texture really melts in your mouth. This was a table favorite. Service is so charming and attentive. Atmosphere is elegant but relaxed. Good music and vibes!

This is their more upscale, finer dining location. Service was first rate and the food was prepared as requested. All in all, the fam and I enjoyed ourselves there. Do note that it is a tad bit on the expensive side. So, we will most likely be back for a special occasion.

First of all, the owner was beyond friendly and welcoming to greet us at the door. The staff were top notch and described their best dishes from the menu. Second, the food is beyond amazing. I lamb rack plate. It gets 20 out of 10 for how flavorful and tender the meat was done! Lastly, the Mona Lisa pictures and the restaurant decoration is super cool. Shout out to the FIFA World Cup replica! I loved. So if you're looking for quality Italian food, services and great ambiance, this is the place to go!

Beautiful late night eats in North Beach. It was the perfect place on a rainy night after a show at the theater.Every morsel was delicious! Wonderful Italian waiter who made excellent recommendations.I used to come here after my shifts at City Lights and now, 20 years later, it's just as cozy and full of exquisite dishes as I recall.Mangia! Mangia!

A Wonderful Evening at Mona Lisa Mare e MontiLast night, we had yet another incredible dinner at Mona Lisa Mare e Monti, this time in celebration of seeing an old friend. The night was filled with laughter, great company, and outstanding food.We started with a selection of red and white Italian wines, accompanied by fresh bread and a delicious olive spread. The owner, Maurizio, generously sent out several platters of homemade sausage with broccolini, followed by an exquisite antipasto spread featuring cold cuts, cheeses, walnuts, and breadsticks. Next came a mixed fried grill, including calamari, along with Caesar salads and bowls of pasta e fagioli, simply excellent. For the main course, my cousin and I shared a perfectly cooked Tomahawk steak, served with asparagus, potatoes, carrots, and a side of broccoli--absolutely fabulous. Others enjoyed halibut, pasta with lobster, and more delectable dishes. For dessert we had home made cannoli and tiramisu, followed by Americano coffee. If you haven't tried Mare e Monti yet, it's an absolute must. A fantastic time was had by all!

My boyfriend and I visited yesterday for valentines day. We had reservations for 8:15, and when we arrived all staff ignored us for 6 minuets as they rushed past us. When someone finally came ip to us, they didn't have a table for us and sat us in an awkward corner outside because it was the first thing he saw. They didn't even have the table ready, they had to put on the table cloth and silverware. After a few minuets, we noticed other couples with no reservations be seated in their heated street patio when they made it seem like it was reserved for a large party, but pulled all the tables apart for them.Next, I ordered their Chicken Leonardo and the waiter didn't tell us it came with a sauce as we ordered the mushroom sauce thinking the chicken would be topped with it, so an extra $10 for nothing! We asked for sparkling water, we got tap. I ordered a diet coke, only for him to tell me as a diet Pepsi arrived that they don't sell those. The chicken seemed like it was sitting out and warmed up to be brought to our table, did not seem fresh at all. lThey never checked in on us either so we could order an appetizer... They were very disorganized and rude as hell. It seemed targeted because we were an interracial couple because they brought out peoples food that came way after us first, and ignored us all together.DO NOT GO HERE!!
