I never though the best Hakata ramen I'd ever eat would be OUTSIDE Japan! However, the Hakata Tonkotsu DX Ramen here absolutely floored me! The broth, toppings, and noodles were a perfect symphony of flavor and texture.Apparently this place is always jam-packed, so I was very lucky to visit on the day I did (I won't say what day or time since I don't want it to get crowded then, haha!) as I was seated immediately and served just as fast.I'm most definitely going to put Marufuku Ramen in my regular lunch lineup from this point onward!

Atmosphere: It can get really busy and crowded so not great for big parties. It's pretty bright inside and has some cute seatings.Food: It's delicious every time I come! My favorite is the braised pork belly. It melts in your mouth as you take a bite. It's really soft and tender with full of flavor from the broth.Service: Very friendly and best part is the foods come out pretty quickly.Tips: Add yourself to the waitlist so you don't have to wait for long. Restrooms are outside.

Not sure why this places was so sought after by people. I really think the food here was ok and if not disappointing, the ramen was light and bland arguably just some chicken broth and noodles. Disappointing would not go back

Classics ramen shop with plenty of room inside, definitely a main attraction at Japantown. They serve Fukuoka-style Hakata ramen which isn't my favorite but it was comforting on a cold SF night. The karaage was not as crispy as I would like but still good. Our server was talking so fast that we didn't understand anything she was saying but luckily we didn't need to converse much with her.

One of those spots that exceed your expectations despite the huge hype. I fully understand. They have great service. Everyone is super attentive, even if they are not your original server. We had quickly received our meals which were authentic and tasty. I believe this is a must try for anyone visiting out of town or craving a ramen fix around the area. It's nice inside with tight, yet many seating arrangements. It's located on the 2nd level of the mall @ Japan Town. We ordered the Tonkatsu original with Pork, Fried Squid, Chicken Karaage, Rice with roe, they were delectable with no complaints.Hakata Tonkatsu - 10/10, amazing broth. If you like spice add the spice seasoning!Ika Karaage - 8/10 great but not enough as a shareable itemHakata Tonkatsu DX - 10/10 big portions, upgraded version of OGChicken Karaage - 7/10 average, could use some sauce. They had soy sauce or mayo with spice to offer as condiments. Overall, I enjoyed the abundance of flavor in each dish. I didn't get to picture everything, that's how good it was!

Marufuku serves the best ramen in Northern California! Located in Japantown, this authentic ramen spot is well worth the wait. I live in Sacramento, and it's always a treat to stop by while in the city. I recently came by on Sunday, and there was a line wrapped around before opening at 11am! When service began, staff were warm, friendly, and attentive. As they're seating you, you can literally hear the chorus of welcomes. After being seated, it didn't take long to figure out my order. Marufuku's menu is short and streamlined, and my go-to is the Hakata Tonkotsu with mild spice. Pro tip: Ask for the thick noodles. The thick noodles are not listed on their menu, but they're the perfect addition to your bowl! The ramen comes out piping hot, and I love the depth of flavor in the broth, the tenderness of the chashu, and chili powder on the side. Excellent experience as always!

My bf and I came here on a Saturday. We joined the Yelp waitlist around 4:30pm and waited for a total of about 30-40 minutes. Since we opted for an early dinner, the wait wasn't too bad. I ordered the Hakata Tonkotsu and my bf ordered the Hakata Tonkotsu Dx. The difference with the deluxe was that it had extra stuff: buta kakuni (braised thick pork belly), corn, and nori seaweed. My bf also ordered a side of bamboo shoots, and we got chicken karaage. I thought the karaage was decent. The bowls that the ramen came in looked deceivingly small, but the portions were actually pretty good. I even ended up taking leftovers home because I couldn't finish it. The bowls themselves were very unique and cool. I really liked the shape of them. The ramen itself was good. The only thing I regret was not realizing the red stringy stuff was pickled ginger until after I mixed it into my ramen. I'm not a big fan of ginger, so I didn't particularly like the pickled ginger flavor in my ramen. What we both noticed about the noodles here compared to other places was that their noodles are on the thinner side. They reminded me of egg noodles. I didn't mind them, but my bf prefers thicker ramen noodles.Overall, we had a good experience here. Staff was great, and service was good.
