Everything we purchased was very tasty and the texture & quality was excellent! Unfortunately, I do think they are extremely pricy... so, for us it would be a splurge and for special occasions... not a regular thing... Bravo for what they do and providing such a wide variety of gluten free opinions

If you are in SF and gluten free you've got to try Mariposa Bakery. They have things you just can't get GF other places (and also they are so good)! I love the croissants, hot pockets, Challah bread, cinnamon rolls, and sweet/savory pies. Also, they have great sandwich options. Though I don't rate their bagels and regular bread or pastas as highly (3/5) as the other options. Be prepared for a potential long line and for the prices. To me great GF baked goods are worth whatever someone is charging because I don't bake! The Ferry Building is also a great tourist stop - I recommend grabbing a coffee and a GF baked good and go sit on the benches out back for some views in the morning before you head to Fisherman's wharf.

Love mariposa products. Order online often for item to be delivered. Happened to be in SF by the ferry building a picked up a bunch of items. Mediocre service! Seems like the person just wants to sell quick pastries. Would not come back. Will continue to older online for delivery

Was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the gluten free baked goods. We purchased a loaf of sliced bread, pain au chocolate, chocolate and molasses cookies. The bread was so good and has stayed fresh in the fridge. We have a few GF bakeries at our local farmer's market that are good, but the people in San Francisco are getting the best choice. Worth the trip!

While wandering through the Ferry building on a rainy Saturday, I needed a treat. The Ferry building was packed, and there are baked goods at just about every turn. Mariposa caught my eye because their muffins looked so sumptuous. The store is very small, but they have a good variety of baked and savory items. There are lunch items like pizzas and bagels, some ready made pastas to cook at home, and of course, lots of sweets. The line was about 10 deep, but it went pretty fast. I got a berry muffin, which was moist and fruity. I didn't realize this at the time, but they have many allergen free items (nut-free, milk-free, gluten-free, soy-free, etc.)

While in San Francisco, I kept hearing about Mariposa Baking from all my gluten free foodie friends. I was luckily staying right across the street so I got to enjoy breakfast and lunch here a few times! The first time I got an "everyseed" bagel because bagels are one of the things I miss the most in my gluten free diet. The bagel is definitely not an "everything" bagel as it was missing the salt on top. I found it to be a bit lackluster in flavor because of this. They also no longer carry lox which I was sad to find out upon arrival since it appears in some menus online. The next time I visited Mariposa, I got a spinach and feta pocket and a ham and cheese pocket. Both were a massive serving size and too big to finish in one sitting - but both very delicious! I definitely recommend stopping by if you are gluten free because this place has some of the tastiest and also most beautiful GF pastries I've ever seen.

Best GF bakery I've ever had! If you are GF try this place for sure!! Most GF bakeries I e had have been sweet focused, but this place also has savory. When was the last time you had a GF hot pocket or cheese pie thing??? Never? oh right! But alas, this place has it. Line could be better organized because it gets cluttered in the small hallway, but it moved fast enough. Last mention: the donut holes. Great fresh, but absolutely amazing the next morning paired with hot coffee! I haven't found a donut hole with same texture as a gluten hole until now. Loved this place, a local gem of GF goodies. Wish I had a place like this where I lived.

The ferry building Mariposa location is certainly better in some aspects than the Oakland location. However, the price still remains ridiculous. I got a Reuben for $17. For this price, I was expecting a normal size sandwich with normal size bread. Yes, gluten-free is often smaller, but at a gf Bakery, where they are charging you $17 for your sandwich, It's not a ludicrous assumption that the sandwich might be normal sized. It was not. It was made with small bread. The sandwich was good, the rye bread was good, they were generous with toppings, but I still couldn't really get over the $17 charge attached to it. I also got two pastries to take home with me, the spanakopita, and the curry turnover. The curry turnover was in that usual piecrust that they use, and the spanakopita was actually in a nice flaky sort of dough similar to their croissant. A little bit gummy, and doughy, but definitely flaky. The curry turnover was really pretty good, filled about halfway not all the way. For the $13 charge, again, I expected it to be larger. It was the size of your standard turnover. I really sort of dainty pastry. The same goes for the spanakopita in terms of size and price. The spanakopita was definitely filled more though. The spinach leaves were entirely whole which means every time you take a bite, a lot of extra spinach comes with that bite.

I still give this place five stars for their gluten free baked goods and take home lasagna but overall four stars because their service still sucks most of the time. I went by here recently on a Sunday morning before a meeting to grab something hot to eat. I love their hot pockets. However, it was 9:30 am. A number of people around me and I started to form a line. Some people asked the staff questions about the pastries and they answered while putting stuff out. None of the staff thought to tell us that they didn't open until 10 am on Sundays. After about 5 minutes of being ignored, I saw the small sign for their hours. I pointed it out to others and we all left. That was a horrible experience as I was hungry and now didn't have time to get something else before my meeting. On Pi Day, I came by and was pleased they had a number of pies available in different sizes. I picked up a small Chocolate Pie that was low in sugar and a small Cherry Pie. They were the perfect size for the three of us though they could have fed more people. We didn't finish the pies ourselves. The Chocolate Pie was yummy and perfect for me but my husband said it wasn't sweet enough for him. We all loved the Cherry Pie!We went back recently and picked up their pizza dough. It came with two rounds. They were awesome!!! We put on our own toppings and popped them into the oven. They came out delicious.I love their food. I just wish the service was better.
