Marco Polo Italian Ice Cream

Apparently, Marco Polo introduced ice cream to Italy. After dinner dessert adventures are the best. We came here after the recommendation of a friend who had their ice cream before and it did not disappoint! The shop is fairly small and there is some indoor and outside seating. The staff is friendly and gave great recommendations! There were so many Asian inspired flavors and I was in heaven. I got the pandan and lychee and the pandan reminded me so much of home. th lychee flavor was crispy and refreshing on the cold SF evening, but ice cream when it is cold, is always the best! My spouse got soursop and pandan and I got to try the soursop which was also refreshing and tasty! I will definitely need to come back and try the other flavors as there are so many I want to try!

Went there for the first time last night and it became one of my fav. It is a small shop with many Asian ice cream flavors.We tried lychee, jackfruit, guava, Thai tea, coffee vsop and black sesame. I don't particularly like the coffee vsop, but probably because i don't like brandy and don't usually drink coffee. The fruit flavors are the bomb. Not too sweet with bits of fruit in the case of lychee. The flavor was excellent. The black sesame is thick but with intense black sesame flavor. I would definitely go back. $6 for a single scoop for up to 2 flavors

I'm so happy that Marco Polo is finally back, albeit definitely farther than it was before, but it's always worth the trek. You know how good the ice cream is when there's a line out the door despite it being the dead of winter and sprinkling outside. Marco polo has the feel of a classic local neighborhood ice cream shop, and the workers are always kind, patient and happy to let you try different flavors. There are a few small tables and chairs scaterred around, and there are always groups of friends and families sitting down to enjoy a sweet treat together. Marco Polo ice cream offers some of the creamiest and not too sweet ice creams around, with an offering of unique flavors. I highly recommend the jackfruit, guava, coconut, lychee, mangosteen, and if you're not opposed, durian. Marco polo is a cornerstone institution that we always keep coming back to, and though the new location is farther, it also gives you a reason to walk a block over to the ocean :)

A neighborhood gem that offers a unique twist on traditional Italian gelato...namely, Asian-inspired flavors that are fruity, extremely fresh, and made up of high-quality ingredients. They often run out of the more popular flavors, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of their staples, particularly the fruits. I usually rotate between mango, mangosteen, soursop, lychee, and fresh banana. The ice cream has a thicker consistency, with a bit of a "pull." It manages to strike the right balance between creamy and fruit flavoring. They are not cheap. A "medium" which will get you up to 3 flavors (I recommend for a single serving) costs $8. That said, their commitment to fresh, delicious ice cream makes them one of the best in the city, and worth the special trip if you are in the mood for something a little different.

I love the Asian inspired flavors over at Garden Creamery but it's such a hassle to get in and out of there, and they don't do tasters. I am pleased to report that Marco Polo is like Garden but without the faffing around. The guy serving was happy to oblige any taste curiosities I had. I loved the Pandan and Black Sesame. And the Jackfruit was such a surprise. I can't wait to return and try more of the tropical fruit flavors. Technically this is ice cream rather than gelato but the quality and intensity of the flavor is tip top.

My favorite ice cream spot in the city! They have so many Asian flavors. I got the coffee and Thai tea and felt like it was a perfect combo.

Service is always kind and the ice cream is delicious. My favorite in sf.Simple seating and chill private bathroom. And tap water available for self serve. My favorite is the guava and sesame. QualiTEA SIS.

I friend suggested this place for dessert after our 1st section of the Double Cross Town hike. $6 for 2 exotic flavors of gelato is great value. The sesame flavor was intense yet still dessert like, not too bitter. The lychee was bright and light. It was like yin and yang. What a nice celebration to end our SF outing.

Despite being equidistant to their former location on Taraval and the new one on Noriega, I like the latter more, due to the slightly more availability of parking spaces and the increased space inside. They've also got bathrooms now. Prices have steadily gone up over the years, and while I've always known Marco Polo to be on the more expensive side, it doesn't seem like they're exorbitantly unaffordable just yet ($6 for a small cup).Otherwise, everything's about the same, just more modern. The green tea is a safe choice, and they're known for their durian, which they make with real durian (just smell it). Staff are generous and patient with samples, and even welcome it. Their Pandan is okay. It tastes more like coconut or Graham cracker (two other flavors I love), but I sorta wish it was slightly earthier and sweeter. Definitely wanna try other flavors there.

The Gelato here was Sublime ! I didn't really know what to expect because gelato spots can be hit or miss but this place was generally a great experience both in taste and costumer service. The worker was very jolly and happy to serve any need or question you have. They have many flavors some that you won't find in other places. And they taste great and authentic not a cheep powdery taste. The place itself is small and can be busy but it's worth the taste!
