Good vibes and yummy lasagna! Their pesto was the most unique and flavorful one we tried, and I'd want to go back to try all the other lasagnas! Their pastas look really good too. I'm glad the lasagnas came with soup or salad because it was a nice starter before a rather big slice! They serve it in pans which is cute. The service was really nice; they gave us more water without us having to request a new vase and explained the menu for first-time customers well!

Marcella's is often described as a "hidden gem" or an "institution". However, I couldn't help but feel disappointed by my dining experience. I found the service to be ridiculously slow, the prices to be far too high, and the food merely decent. I'm not sure why this place recieves so much praise. At first, I thought my disappointment might be due to ordering a vegetarian dish, but my dining partners agreed that while the food was good, it didn't meet expectations.House Salad:With an order of lasagna, you're given the choice of a soup or a salad. The soup of the day was tomato and broccoli, which seemed like a poor pairing with a red sauce lasagna. I opted for the house salad, which was fine. It was drenched in balsamic vinegar, but the components were well chosen. Mushroom Lasagna:My raison d'être. I love mushrooms, so I was expecting bites of umami goodness. Unfortunately, while mushrooms were definitely present texturally, they contributed little flavor. The dish mostly tasted like red sauce. And while the red sauce was good, it made for a monotonous dish. They also use bechemal instead of ricotta, and I prefer ricotta .

The food here was disappointing, which was a surprise given the great reviews, the number of people waiting for dine in, and how frequently other people were picking up take out or catering trays. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and waited around 30 mins. There was only 1 main person seating and serving everyone with 1 other person occasionally helping out when they weren't busy with the line at the register. Since we were seated right next to the register and it was getting closer to closing time, we luckily didn't have to wait too long to order. However, there was a table outside who ended up coming in to order because no one had checked in on them. The food also took awhile to arrive. The Ravioli al Tartufo was decent. The sauce was great, maybe a tad bit too salty, while the ravioli filling was bland. I had to get more sauce onto the ravioli after every bite. My husband got the Bolognese Lasagna. He's typically pretty easy to please but even he didn't really care for it. There wasn't much flavor (it really only tasted like onion to me, but I don't like onion so it probably stood out more). But the biggest problem was just how dry it was. Not sure if this was related to how busy they were or how close it was to closing by the time we got our food.

This cafe is truly a gem! I cannot wait to come back. We stopped by on a sunny Saturday and expected a wait. The helpful host was able to accommodate us, as well as several 2-top tables, with the help of an upstairs room. The menu represents a delicious mix of meaty dishes (left side) as well as vegetarian delights (right side). There's also daily specials, so be sure not to miss those! Lasagnas are the star here, but don't sleep on the homemade pastas and paninis. The salads and drinks came out quickly after we ordered. It was evident that the operations here are meticulous and perfected. Our lasagna and pasta dishes arrived not long after our salads were finished, even during a busy weekend lunch rush-- we were truly impressed. I enjoyed the daily special of goat cheese, garlic, and tomato sauce on top of homemade pasta, which was perfectly cooled al dente. My spouse enjoyed the bolognese lasagna, which he scarfed down between comments of "mmmmmm" and "OMG, this is so GOOD". I think I said "Oh, man, I can't wait to take my dad here" half a dozen times. We appreciated the side of bread brought to our table, which was used to scoop up every last ounce of sauce left on our pans (yes- dishes are served in individual pans!)I honestly asked spouse if we could come back next weekend to try dishes I've already scoped out. This place is absolutely something special!

Came in here for lunch after a meeting, I was surprise this place was round the corner. Small place, seats about 20 inside and they have a few tables outside. We were greeted right away and got a table for 3. The service was great and they were accommodation. We had a size of meatballs which were not on the menu , but the let us order as a side. One of the best meatballs I had, perfectly seasoned. We all had the Abruzzo Lasagna with house made spicy Italian sausage. Also one of the best lasagna I had. The oil vinaigrette was the best, it went well the the sourdough bread.

I recently visited Marcella's Lasagneria and tried a few dishes: the carbonara, lasagna, and the salmon pesto chef special. Each one stood out in its own way.The carbonara was rich and creamy, with a perfectly cooked pasta that still had some bite to it. The sauce had just the right balance of salty pancetta and Parmesan, making it satisfying without being overly heavy. The lasagna, true to the restaurant's name, was the star of the meal. It was layered beautifully with tender pasta, rich meat sauce, and just the right amount of cheese--comfort food at its finest. You can really taste the care that goes into it.The salmon pesto was a pleasant surprise. The fish was tender and cooked perfectly, while the pesto added a fresh, herbaceous note that paired well with the richness of the salmon.Overall, the food was consistently well-executed, and the portions were generous. The cozy atmosphere of the restaurant, combined with attentive service, made it a really enjoyable experience. I'm definitely planning to return to explore more of the menu.

Marcella's Lasagneria is a true neighborhood gem. Finally had the chance to visit on a weekday right when they opened to avoid any lines. First one sat down and opted for an outdoor seat. Dogs are welcomed for outdoor seating so I brought mine alone. Service was quick and friendly and waters were served quickly upon being sat. - Lasagna Bolognese - top sirloin angus beef, ground in house, in a savory tomato sauce. Possibly one of the best lasagna I've had in a minute. It was a very hefty piece, loaded with flavor and generous meat, with a perfectly crispy bottom that added another element of texture.- Spaghetti Carbonara - local champignon fresh mushrooms, smoked pancetta, touch of cream, grated Parmigianino. Fantastic balance of creaminess and cheesiness without being too strong or overbearing. Pancetta added a bite of texture and fattiness and was perfectly cooked. Can't recall if I've had mushroom in a carbonara before but this one was a winner.

Hospitality is second nature here. Kimberly and John are awesome. Too bad I missed your meatballs last weekend! You sold out in 3 days, maybe it's time to consider adding "Dana's meatballs" to the menu?! Lasagna is to die for - I always make a stop here when visiting for work and yesterday brought some home to share with my coworkers. Pasta vongole and Carbonara are NOT TO BE MISSED. The abruzzo lasagna is my favorite it has a nice spice to it. Lots of pride taken in cranking out delicious dishes on pristinely clean skillets. Even with a power outage yesterday, they found a way to keep going and service delivered with a smile. Will be back! -The girl from OC who wants meatballs

So we decided to mix it up this thanksgiving and in lieu of a turkey went for lasagna and it might've been the best thanksgiving decision we've ever made. Abruzzo - unbelievably fantastic lasagna. The best I've ever had because I have yet to go to Italy in my lifetime. Layers upon layers of thin sheets of perfectly cooked pasta, nestled with sauce and cheese and a sausage that had great combo of flavor and a little bit of heat (not that spicy tbh). The tomato sauce was perfection. It is a dense lasagna yet somehow I couldn't stop eating.Eggplant - this one ended up not being what I expected. It wasn't bad just different. I thought it'd be eggplant parm meets lasagna but it was more of a diced up eggplant sauce. The herbs and spices in the sauce gave it some kind of middle eastern taste instead of the Italian that I was expecting. It was hard because I was eating both slices side by side and they had different flavor profiles. I think had I eaten this one by itself, I would've liked it more.

You can tell how much thought went into this menu - it's not huge, but has a diversity of options that will all please different pallets. The food quality is superb, the staff is very friendly and you (correctly) get the feel and satisfaction of supporting a local business that really deserves it. There is some outdoor seating as well, which is super pleasant in this neighborhood. The only downside here is that they're not open often. They're open Tuesday-Saturday, 4 hours a day - brunch hours basically.
