The Manila Oriental Market remains true to its DNA in serving the Asian population, especially those who still have nascent roots in their home countries.There's live fish in tanks, on ice, fresh meat still being cut up to specs or custom desires, lots of packaged stuff in Chinese characters, aisles upon aisles of imported canned food and labels you won't find in any ordinary stateside market.And the crowd is as Asian as ever, you can hear all kinds of languages all over the place, it's cacophonous in there, like an orchestra tuning up before a performance, but it's music to my ears as it embodies an authenticity you can't fake.Yep, and there's the shuffling crowd overstuffed in limited space all driving their carts with reckless abandon, no signal lights or any hint of direction they're going. Sound familiar?Nonetheless, all those are positives, unique experiences where aesthetics take a back seat to functionality, no space wasted, stuff to the rafters as you shop with music wailing a bit too loud on blown speakers.This place is diversity on steroids and I love it.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. This supermarket is absolutely the worst. Most people only come here out of convenience since the area lacks other Asian grocery options. However, the produce and meat departments are often unacceptable, so I've seen moldy vegetables, dried-out fruits, and old, unappealing meat on multiple occasions.The worst part is their dishonesty and poor customer service. On several occasions, my family purchased fresh, live fish at $10-$13 per pound, only to receive a completely different, dead, and lower-quality fish after it was cleaned in the back. They blatantly switch out the fish, charging you for the fresh one but giving you a subpar substitute.Additionally, the fruit they sell is often old and rots very quickly after purchase. This place is both dishonest and unsanitary. Avoid shopping here unless you absolutely have no other choice!

I came here to today looking for canned baby corn, canned quail eggs & clams. I found the canned corn (middle of the aisle & middle shelf, almost sold out) but for the life of me, I couldn't find the canned quail eggs. I walked a few aisles to find a employee and asked if he knew where or if they have anymore, and he walked with me back to the aisle and pointed to the BOTTOM OF THE SHELF at the first row. Like .. no one is going to see that! But I so appreciated his help! I used their vegetable bags to hold the ladle to scoop my clams and another bag to hold the basket. They usually yell at us to not waste their bags but ... what do you expect me to do? Get my hands wet and dirty?? The guy that helped weighed my clams gave me 2 extra bags so it wouldn't dirty my own shopping. I wish they had a better spot to put ladles and baskets. I notice the few times I've been here this year, their service is better, esp from the male employees. They're more willing to help and find things and even bring items out from the stockroom for you.

The quality of fruits in the supermarket is good, and they taste fresh. However, the variety of vegetables in the vegetable section is not rich enough, and sometimes they are not fresh enough. The signs in the supermarket are not obvious enough, and it is not convenient for customers to find areas. Based on this, it gets three stars.

I usually come here only as a last resort or urgency for asian groceries since it's closer than Hmart or Ranch99 They have a pretty large selection and variety of asian ingredients for really cheap prices, but the smell inside is really hard for me to shop comfortably. It doesn't look or feel sanitary and depending on the aisle I'm in, I've definitely gagged involuntarily.

So glad I found another Asian supermarket that's closer than 99 ranch! The prices are also more reasonable and the selection is equally good. There're also way more Filipino, Thai, and Vietnamese ingredients than other Asian supermarkets. The meat and seafood were all fresh and organized and not smelly! The vegetables were also packed nicely. I'm coming here for the bulk of my Asian groceries in the future!

Extremely rude, the employee at the meat section, who always wear mask and hoodie cover his head. He always yelled, talked in bad way. He glares at me when I ring the bell to buy when no one there. I never like his way of treating customers. Always have bad experiences with him only, for long time . Last time was worse, he yelled at me, roll his eyes, gave me order like a boss. He did not want to give service as I asked him if I could look at the item. He told me no and didn't want to do and yelled at me loud.If you don't want to work, then leave. You need to serve your customers the right way or everyone soon will stop coming here. If you are a boss, then don't work. Every time , I feel he words sound and attitude harass and abuse me and customers. I hope this will change.

I went today and got three fish, only wanted fins cut off. Head intact. The fish guy let someone walk away with my order (3 catfish, head intact, fins removed). I objected, recognizing it was my order. Then 10 minutes later he hands me fish that is not what I ordered. It was filleted--I needed the bones and head for my recipe. I couldn't communicate this to him because of language barrier and walked away with $40 of fish I can't use. I came here because it's in the neighborhood, but never again. I will switch to May Wah even though it is further away. Everything here is moldy and rotten anyway.

Totally love this spot. They have a great variety of yummy snacks and drinks and extensive selections of seafoods and veggies. I'm stoked with finding this gem
