Mangrove Kitchen

The Thai food here was amazing! All of their dishes looked really good but we got the fried rice with shrimp and the shrimp was huge. We also got the spicy catfish, which was amazing and came with veggies and really good sauce. We also got the lychee cocktail and the basil cocktail which was also really yummy. Def recommend this place for Thai food in NoPa.

I... wish I could say I liked this place! However, I can only speak about my experience from my one time here. It was conveniently close by a concert that I was headed to, so my friends and I decided to drop by before. We ordered a chicken satay to share, and I love satay sauce! They do pre-pour a generous amount on the three skewers, so if you want less, that would be difficult to do. However, the chicken was so, so dry! It was a nightmare to try to finish and honestly, a choking hazard to me because I could not stop coughing. I was so embarrassed! I would try to control it and drink my water silently, but I failed to. Five times in a row, I spontaneously started coughing/choking. I had to start drinking my friend's water because I ran out!! The price wasn't cheap either, so I tried my best to finish most of it... which I also failed to... If my memory is correct, my dish was supposed to be a Chef's special, so that was disappointing! The sticky rice and the cucumber that came with the chicken was not memorable nor impressive. My friends did enjoy their dishes. I also had some Thai tea there; it was pretty standard. My friend got a hot tea, and you can see that the cup is really, really small. The waiter did ask my friend if she was sure about the hot tea, so our waiter did try to give us a heads up!The decorations are gorgeous and unique -- woven fish are hung from the ceiling. Ambiance is nice and feels chic. Hopefully next time will be better for me!

my favorite Tom kha in all of SF! Not too tart, perfectly coconut-ty, and not too sweet. They are generous with their protein as well. Their interior is nice and never too crowded, which makes this a good spot to bring family or friends.

We were in the area and stumbled across this gem! We will be back to try more of their tasty dishes. The service was quick and efficient. The ambiance was peaceful and pleasant. Definitely check them out and add this place to your must try SF eats!

Pretty bummed about my experience here. Got the shrimp salad and there were two, you counted that right, literally TWO shrimp on the dish! That's less than 2 oz of protein for $17, plus tip and tax and local fee made it $22! For (2) shrimp atop shredded papaya and carrot, I am very very disappointed. The flavor on the shrimp was really good and the people were friendly, but terrible value and portions here -- definitely won't be back. I was excited to try a local Asian restaurant in the heart of SF - shouldn't have gotten my hopes up.

This was hands down the best Tom Kha I've ever had! Every single dish was absolute perfection, and we'll definitely be coming back. If you love Thai food, I highly recommend this place. The interior was stunning, and the experience was made even better by our amazing server, Alisa--she was so sweet and friendly, truly making our visit unforgettable. 10/10 recommend!

The service is just alright at Mangrove, quick and efficient which conflicts the nicer ambiance of the joint. Nice decoration, very "first date" vibes, and great area to be in. Unique and interesting concept of the thai japanese fusion. The portions were very large, as in two people could eat from one main. The flavor was decent. I wouldn't go out of my way to come bad here.

Mangrove Kitchen is a chill Thai restaurant with great food options and a beautiful interior. Service was efficient. The curry flavor was really good and comes with yummy veggies and a choice of meat. + Tom Yum (4/5)The $1 add-on for chicken comes with SOOO much meat-- super worth. The soup itself was okay for me-- not the most flavorful but still pleasant.+ Spicy Crispy Pork Belly (3.5/5)I'll be honest -- this was good, but the pork belly is most certainly not crispy. The sauce is very soy and sweet, and the pork bellies are pretty good but a little tough to chew. The veggies in this dish are SO GOOD.

Came across this restaurant while looking for Thai food in the area! There's a lot of natural woven lighting fixtures and plants, and while it got busy the restaurant wasn't noisy.The chicken Pad Thai was a little on the sweeter side, chicken wasn't dry, and it was plated elegantly similar to an asian-fusion dish. The menu also has a few less-conventional options like thai-ramen that I'll give a try next time.Don't forget to check-in for a free beverage!

I have only nigh praise for Mangrove Kitchen after the first experience, which was for take out. I ordered a large Tom Yum Soup w/ Chicken, Pad See Ew w/ Chicken, and Panang Curry w/ Chicken. Each dish was absolutely delicious and had the perfect balance of spice while maintaining the flavor of individual ingredients. The online ordering system was easy and the restaurant was spot on with the estimated ready time. I am all around pleased with the experience and very much look forward to another visit.
