The food is pretty good. The broccoli cheese soup could use a little work/be creamier perhaps? The sourdough of course is legit and tasty but the other food items are just okay. Service is more like a stand or a mall where you get your food and sit down on your own. If you want your table cleaned off, you should wipe it down yourself. Overall, it's Boudin's and Boudin's is famous and we love bread, but if you are looking for a fancy place and want great service, you may want to try somewhere else.

This is an underground food court currently housing: Subway, Jamba Juice, Wolfgang Puck Cafe, Ben & Jerry's, Mixed Greens, Boudin Bakery & Cafe, a sushi bar. It is busy during lunch and suppertime, as expected. When not busy it's a nice getaway from the bustle above ground.Slightly out of the way, it's located on the bottom floor of Macy's (women's store), take the escalator down and turn left. Turn right and it's the store's household items and a Visitor Center.Note in the evening there's an odor that permeates at some areas here, oof.

Great place to stop if you need a quick bite and your in the city. Not usually much of a wait, order at the counter, be seated and wait for your food to come. Just like being at the wharf, well, minus the views, the crowds and the people.

When I'm tired from shopping in Union Square, I head to Macy's Cellar, located on the basement floor of Macy's. If you need some sugar to re-energize yourself, what better more can you ask for than to have Ben & Jerry's, Tom's Cookies, and Jamba Juice all next to each other! If that's not enough, you can take the elevator to Cheesecake Factory. They also have lunch places like Wolfgang Puck, Boudin, and a sushi bar, but the Cellar is so congested I prefer to come here to pickup sweets and eat at Union Square (when it's not raining).

I used to come to Macy's Cellar all the time when Wolfgang Puck Cafe had a spot here. Now I drop by for the occasional meal from Boudin Sourdough Bakery & Cafe. Or if an ice cream craving hits, Ben & Jerry's.On Friday, September 18th around 1pm, I stopped by to try Asian Box. They've taken over the old Wolfgang Puck Cafe space, so they have a rather large area in the Cellar. If you take the escalators down by the perfume and watch department it'll be your first restaurant on the right after passing Godiva Chocolates. I was craving something Asian inspired, so I got a Chicken and Shrimp box over salad ($13.45). Most boxes come with one meat for $8.25, but my inner fattie wanted two proteins! It was a solid box and definitely fulfilled my craving. If you're looking for other dining options or snacks, they also have Jamba Juice, Mixed Greens and Tortilla Kitchen. I haven't tried any of these places, but Tortilla Kitchen looks like it could be a good Mexican option.Macy's Cellar is a good go-to when I don't want to walk far, but I want a change of pace. I don't come here often, so it allows me to mix it up.

I have sampled the Pier 39 location of Boudin Bakery, which is excellent! The Fisherman's Wharf location is also very good. I recently went to the Macys Cellar location and the California Vegie Sandwich, which is what I always order, was very hard to eat. The cucumbers were not peeled and cut very thick making them uneatable, had to leave them on the side. Also, the ratio of lettuce vs. the actual amount of vegetables and spread/dressing was very uneven, much to much lettuce, the lack of dressing and vegetables caused the bread to be very dry. The options for the sandwich were also less than offered at the Pier 39 location. Overall I must rate this location with three stars.

I eat hear a lot when I am in San Francisco. It's a quick, convenient place to grab a bite. There are several options for where to eat, and they have changed over time Boudin seems to have always been there, and always has a small line. The only problem is you are in the basement. So no view and that is a waste in SF.Other then that it's easy to get in and out.

Boudin worker had the worst customer service. She was very rude! Bread was extremely stale and sandwich was completely empty. Barely any meat inside. Ended up not eating anything I paid for. Overall would not return.
