I was introduced to this place by Kamy T. who brought these amazing char sui bows to our Sunday school class at church and all I could do is keep thinking about how I need to make a visit myself! Finally, I had the time to go and it was incredible! The line was long and I nearly missed the dr appt to follow but, it was worth the trip. I could smell the baked goodness and feel the warmth of freshly baked buns straight out of the oven thru the box. I got the pineapple char siu bows and regular baked bows and both are so amazing! LOVED the pineapple ones because they have that perfect flakey outside and packed w tons of char siu on the inside. My mom who is especially picky said the baked bbq bows were the best she's ever had. Also got some egg tarts and have yet to dig into them but was so full from the bows that I don didn't have room for dessert. I'm coming back and going to try out their other items next time. Prices are also extremely reasonable and portions are huge.

Lung Fung's Egg Tart is pretty competitive against the Golden Gate Bakery Egg Tart and as a bonus is significantly cheaper, $2.32 at Lung Fung versus $3.75 at Golden Gate Bakery. The Lung Fung egg tart has more lard which makes it flakier, rich and a toasty taste with a very good filling.Parking is very hard to find but you know which days and hours Lung Fung is open. Although Golden Gate makes an excellent egg custard you never know when they will be open or for how long. If you have to drive to Golden Gate, it is frustrating to pay toll, gas, parking and then find out they are closed for the frequent vacations or other reasons for closure. The other buns are pretty good at Lung Fung. The BBQ bun is chewy, has a fair amount of filling and is light on the filling flavor, meat was a bit dry. All of the buns are chewy which I like and baked to a golden brown. I liked the custard buns, to me the chewiness and sweet filling blended nicely. The Pineapple Bun was good too. Curry Pie is very spicy. On my next trip I plan to go earlier than 11:30 am to make sure I can get everything. They ran out of the Pineapple Buns with Custard.

I've had their egg tarts many times, whether for a quick snack, at gatherings, or through generous coworkers.酥皮蛋挞 Egg Custard ($2.23):+Crust tastes like a mix between flaky and biscuit+Custard was creamy, eggy, and not sweet.-Inconsistent quality: For the most part, they've been flaky but sometimes I eat it immediately and it's cold and soggy.Side notes:1.) Cash only2.) Limited indoor seating: There are only a few chairs available.*Verdict: Solid spot in the Richmond District for egg tarts. Maybe one day I'll try their other baked goods...

Time to link some pictures and do a quick update. My current favorite is the picture I just posted with all your 4's!!!!Quality/Quantity - Very limited selection today 12/25/24, but thank you for being open on Christmas Day.Custard egg pies!! Still my family's favorite. They all rate this 5 stars; I personally thought these tarts were 4 stars. But I am the minority, so 5 stars it is!We got assorted pastries today.Atmosphere - Very small local bakery, where everyone knows everyone.Open 6 days a week from 7am to 6pm; closed Monday. Yelp hours differ.Street parking, but not an issue as we ate lunch down the block today.Service - Good.Price - $20, my guest paid.Owner Comment - Congrats on your success; we are regular customers.

This review is ONLY for the bbq pork bunsHad to wait 8 minutes for the baked BBQ pork buns but it's totally worth the wait. Got those and the pineapple BBQ pork buns-- both were so good. I slightly prefer the pineapple topping one - it adds a slightly crunchy texture. The meat is not fatty and the bread to filling ratio is excellent. Reminds me of Cafe Bakery on Noriega. IYKYK. Not much of an ambiance here. Couple of tables to sit and devour your baked goods. Dated interior but don't let that fool you. They also sell Chinese newspapers. Cash only.

Char Siu Bao (Baked) is soooo good! The shop is a traditional Chinese bakery, nothing fancy. The interior is very small with only 3 available tables for seating. Baos are constantly baking and coming out which makes me so happy that they will rarely run out! It was raining today but craving was still satisfied once we got our boxes of baos to share with our family :) service was quick, we were in and out in about 5 mins!

Today I was there around 11:15am. Three people were ahead of me. The line moved quickly. When it was my turn I asked for six bbq pork buns. Another 15 minutes I was advised. Rather than wait I went with six pineapple bbq pork buns and six custard egg tarts. The pineapple bbq pork bun is $2.65 each but it's very big and filled with plenty of bbq pork. Sweet & savory with each bite. It's a good substitute if they're out of their regular bbq pork buns. And you can't go wrong with the custard egg tarts. I parked at a yellow meter across the street, and kept my fingers crossed that I wouldn't get ticketed. No ticket.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon and there was a line out the door. The only people sitting at the tables inside were a couple of people playing Xiang Qi, reminding me of the bakeries I used to go to as a kid. The line was slow, but you know the food is good when everyone is willing to wait. A lot of the other pastry items were gone by the time I got to the front, but their classics are always stocked.I got the BBQ Pork Bun and a Sponge cake. The BBQ Pork bun was so yummy! Absolutely filled with meat and the dough was sweet and fluffy. It was gone within minutes. The sponge cake was also a delight! So airy and fluffy, it felt like eating a cloud and practically melted in your mouth.Love this place! They're cash only so be prepared, but it was so cheap! Would definitely come back to try their egg tarts!

Great bakery for Asian baked goods! Came in the morning, and the bread was fresh from the oven. One of my favorite bakeries to visit awhile I'm visiting NorCal.
