Las Pencas Food Truck

I'm big fan of las pencas restaurant but this food truck is also good! We usually order quesabirrias from here and they always hit the spot. The consome has a a lot flavor, good when you add like and salsa to it. Sometimes it takes a while to get your order because they are always busy but its worth the wait. They are nice to give extra salsas when you ask for more.They have tables/chairs in the parking lot they are at in case you want to sit and eat there. Plenty of street parking as well.

This place never fails me.. food is always good. Service is fast, you order you pay you eat. They have outdoor chairs and tables. You park and eat if you want too coz sometimes it can be windy and cold

Horrible ! The service from the lady with glasses was horrible. Do your self a favor and visit the restaurant instead . Food quality is terrible here too. Never again.

Truck is located right next to Molloys bar. The consome and tacos are pretty good for the closest near me. The carne asada fries are good

Not sure if this is the Las Pencas food truck (well, actually trailer) that was located at 1655 Mission Rd in South SF, or if this is yet another Las Pencas food truck. Located in the parking lot of the combination Hillside Market & Mr. Liquor where the Tacos El Potosino truck used to be located, this is a mobile branch of the excellent Taqueria Las Pencas, 319 Baden Avenue in South SF. Unfortunately unlike the bricks and mortar taqueria on Baden, which although they have all the typical taqueria fare specializes in Comida Oaxaqueña, the trailer features more typical taco truck offerings, albeit a pretty expansive listing. Service was friendly (while seated at one of their two tables one of the cooks emerged from the trailer heading for the liquor store, but paused to ask thumbs up or thumbs down on their food) and my Tacos de Canasta (comes in an order of four, with your choice of choriza y papa and/or chicharrón) gave me flashbacks to Tacos de Canasta in Mexico (fair warning -- in Mexico Tacos de Canasta ["basket tacos"] are liberally basted in oil before griddling, wrapping, placing in baskets, and traditionally sold from the back of bicycles). I'm giving them 3 stars simply because they're not in the same league as the former occupant of the parking lot, Tacos El Potosino, but am reserving the right to upgrade as I try more from their menu (although I'll always opt for the actual Taqueria because of their Oaxacan offerings).

Ordered today at Las Pencas Food Truck for the first time their Super Tacos Shrimp 4 orders. The menu clearly says it has avocados, sour cream, cheese, onions, cilantro, & sauce. It had no avocados, sour cream, & cheese. Clearly a big disappointment. Tells you a lot about the kind of business being managed short changing paying customers.

We didn't get to eat the food right away. So I think it would have been 5 stars if we ate it immediately after picking up. We ordered online and got 6 orders of quesabirria tacos, 2 nachos, and a quesadilla. Everything was perfect even with our customizations of no onions or no cilantro on some of the orders. Super nachos with the pollo asado were really good. It had a nice balance of all the toppings. The birria tacos were ok, they were sitting for probably an hour before we got to eat them. The birria was tasty even though it was cold. I didn't care for the consome because the tacos were already soggy. And I got instant heartburn from it lol but again it would have been better if we ate it immediately. The red and green salsas were soooo good. The red salsa was hella spicy, so be careful lol I would definitely come back for the nachos!!

I've been to some bad taco truck and this one beats them all. It was so disappointing, because the taco plates looked so delicious... We order a ton of tacos (chicken beef and al pastor) and they were all cooked the same way. They were over cooked, dry, charred, flavorless and over powered by the onions. They also came with chips and salsa and the same there also, flavorless. How do you mess up green salsa?!?!? I seriously don't get it. It seems like they have fresh ingredients, by how good they looked. I think they've gotten comfortable with the bar clientele, because they are located in front of to Molly's. Drunks will eat anything and think it's good. I also ate, before I had a drink, so I know for a fact it wasn't the alcohol.

I've been coming here for years with the fam. Food never disappoints! Always smack as usual however was thrown off by what the workers wrote on my receipt lol. Btw (small back story) I am 100% Mexican, Spanish is my first language and I speak and understand the language fluently. Unfortunately we didn't have much growing up back in the 2000's and as my mother who was single, worked in a taqueria to provide for my older brother and I. She would always bring home quesadillas and burritos after work which I would enjoy and became a comfort food. Anyways once I received my order from the lovely dasher, I went inside to open my food and looked at the receipt that said "No mex" next to burrito I had ordered my partner. Assuming because I asked for no salsa on the burrito as my partner would rather put it in top. If they want, they could definitely word play me and say that they call the salsa that which is why they put "No mex" or some crap however I am not buying it. Utter disrespect to my face and what us latinos stand for. Please reconsider who you let attend your customers, and God Bless.

Service, food, quality and quantity, WON'T disappoint. One of the best food trucks in my opinion.
