Stumbled upon this store to get change for the parking meter. It was pouring rain and had my toddler in my arms. The cash register said she had no quarters and couldn't provide change for $2, so we left. This could very much be true, which would be inconvenient for any store customers who need change upon purchase, but if that were the case she could have offered dimes and nickels. The impression I got was that she didn't want to help me.

Like most Mexican produce stores, this place is cramped and crowded. But it's a small price to pay for getting better quality, lower cost produce. For example, I can get tomatoes for .69/lb that are much redder than what Safeway sells for 2 or 3 times as much. I also love their "paletas" (Mexican ice cream bars) - strawberry, coconut, tamarindo and their Mexican candies, which they keep at the register. For those of you who get all your groceries at big-box grocery chains, definitely check out La Loma for your produce - grocery chains can't even compare in price.

The fruit here isn't so great and tends to be bruised/old looking. I haven't tried anything else here really...

This is a small very Latin oriented produce and staples market. Plenty of beans, rice, and produce to be had (including a pretty nice refrigerated shelf in the store). They have some pretty nice deals on the produce up front to. And they have Mexican chocolate. When the weather inevitably turns crappy again, I'll go back and buy some,
