Been here multiple times as they are one of the only dessert spots open late in the city. Typical Hong Kong style dessert spot that serves both food and dessert. Nice hangout spot for those who like going out at nighttime.

Reliable spot open late with a variety of savory and sweet options. I ordered the strawberry sago, but I would recommend a mango sago instead. The strawberry sago may sometimes be unreliable depending on the taste of the strawberries. I also like that the mango sago contains coconut milk which gives it a creamy texture rather than icey (like the strawberry sago) There is a large amount of seating, but it does fill up fast (because it's one of the few late night dessert spots) It's hard to sometimes wave down a waiter, but they are usually pretty quick and attentive when you ask for something

Kowloon Tong Dessert Cafe was not what I was hoping for, especially since my standards have risen after my trip to Hong Kong. I was craving a dessert soup after dinner nearby and shared the black sesame glutinous rice balls in hot almond paste. The paste was indeed thick but grainy and a bit too sweet. After each bite, I needed to wash down that mildly unpleasant claggy mouthfeel with the provided hot water, which I did appreciate. I definitely prefer this almond dessert as a thinner soup. The skin of the glutinous balls (tong yuan) was also too thick. The original popcorn chicken seasoning was a bit too sweet. I'm hesitant to come back, but I'd still like to try their egg puff waffle (gai dan jai).

Great casual dinner and desserts place that closes pretty late compared to other restaurants in this area. Whenever I craved glutinous rice balls filled with sesame, I come here. They seem to have a bit more variety here on HK-style snacks than other places. Although known more for desserts, they also have a limited savory menu.Located on 7th Ave between Geary and Clement.

I came here several years ago, and I loved this place. I came back with a friend, and he decided to give it a try. We both loved it. The popcorn chicken is so tender, but they can be a lot more spicy for it to be called spicy popcorn chicken. Both desserts see good, I liked the red bean paste soup. It reminds me of my childhood. The mango sago is also good, but it's not out of the ordinary. The place is cute, and opens till midnight. You enter this place to feel nostalgia, and leave the place into the fog.

I'm both a regular and a lover of Kowloon tong. Their menu is expansive, they're open late, service is quick, and the food is consistent. We came in on a Monday night, and it was very empty (so good for us). I ordered an iced Horlick, a macaroni soup, and a sesame balls in ginger soup. Horlick, fire, honestly can't mess that up. Macaroni soup was good, the egg was perfectly runny. But the soup was a bit too salty. Sesame balls were really good. Plump and soft. Ginger soup is also always a hit. I appreciated the chunks of ginger in there as well. Overall, this is a solid place. I don't think it's the best hk cafe in the city, but it's so consistent and convenient, i will continue to come here.

Kowloon will always have a special place in my heart. I've been coming here since I was a little girl. I remember the late nights with my cousins, driving all the way from across the city just to eat here. I loved their waffle sundae. I've revisited not too long ago on a weekend afternoon just to check out their happy hour menu from 5pm - 7pm everyday. they are known for their Hong Kong style snacks - particularly the popcorn chicken, curry fish balls, egg puffs, salt and pepper wings and pork chop, steamed rice crepes, and of course their other traditional desserts with fruit and sago. Service is always quick, and the food has never let me down. this place can get pretty packed on the weekends, especially around 10-11pm. However, there is absolutely no one when they open at 5pm. if you want to avoid crowds, I recommend coming for happy hour

It's interesting that you can only pick one base for the build your own dessert, but we kindly asked the waiter and he said we can add one more topping for free. We ended up asking for the grass jelly, black rice, and sago (only paying $1 extra for the sago) with mango. It tasted pretty much like how I expected! The only thing I might dock half a star for is their grass jelly he a much firmer texture and much more medicinal flavor than I was used to. Other than that, it's a great dessert place to hang out at after dinner!

Hubs wanted a late night snack. I haven't been back to Kowloon Tong for years. First time for hubs and kiddo. Arrived on Saturday night and it was busy. Every table was taken when we left. Hubs ordered the salt and pepper tofu and chicken wings and fries. The tofu was piping hot and we liked the garlic and pepper topping. As for the chicken wings and fries - they arrived hot. Hubs said the chicken was crispy but bland. Kiddo ordered the instant noodles with egg and ham - like any other instant noodles - nothing special. I ordered the grass jelly shaved ice dessert. I thought it would come with fruit or other things on top. It was grass jelly over crunchy ice and topped with condensed milk - meh. For me, it was pricey for what you get.
