I was in SF for a conference and happened across the Instagram story about Omar and Major, so I had to visit his store. I walked 2 miles to get there, but feeding Major treats and talking to Omar was worth it. Omar was very welcoming, and I shopped around a bit to support his store. I took some pictures and videos, and another couple from LA came in while I was there, and they were coming in to see Major, too. What Omar is doing isn't groundbreaking, but having a dog tending a store is certainly unique! From the little bit that I was there, plus watching their Instagram feed, I can tell what a great person Omar is, offering free food and water to those in need. We need more decent people like him in the world. Major had his own postcard that I received, but If Omar sees this, let me know if he'd like his own website. I'll do anything I can to help promote his business.

This neighborhood market is amazing. I visit here often before going skating. The owner is the most kind, generous, and friendly person I have ever met. He has a cart outside with free items for people that need them. I wish every neighborhood had a market like this.

Convenient corner store with Five * service. I was here at night looking for ice cream I desperately needed for my chocolate ice cream deficiency I have at random when I need it for watching movies at home. I was baffled cause I only saw those ice cream bars and not, you know, what I really require, an actual little cartoon of ice cream with chocolate chunk 'n such. So the good man at the cash register said "it's down that isle." Oh, wow! so because of that I used my electric magic powers to fix his POS thing that hadn't been working for 10 minutes. After which, he said we would be good friends. I said I leave in 2 days. As I was leaving I said thank you & the dog barked at me like, like Lassie or something kinda letting me know I wasn't acknowledging him as a person too. Oops! So I thanked the dog for his good service as well

This store is one of those things that makes a "neighborhood," not just a designated part of town. Staying at Casa Loma Hotel, a block away, there's a convenience store a block in the opposite direction, but this Key Foods has a "vibe" to it. Omar doesn't just take money, he makes friends. His protective canine isn't really that scary, and is rather beautiful.

Omar is a vital part of the fabric of this community. His commitment to the neighborhood is truly unprecedented. He has provided our home with countless beverages, quality frozen dinners when life doesn't provide enough time for a home cooked meal, and even outdoor seating to enjoy a nice cup of noodle on the sidewalk. Now, more than ever, we need to connect with our neighbors and build a brighter tomorrow. With Omar, the future is bright. - Sarah c/o Collin's yelp account, on behalf of 519 Fillmore

You might think your corner store is the best. You're wrong. Key Food Grocery is the Best. Omar is the Best. Best tunes. Best It's-It selection. Best late-night neighborhood chats. Best place to get aluminum foil and a red bull while dressed head-to-toe as a gigantic jellyfish at 5:30pm on a Thursday.BEST

My name is MicheleI live a block away from Key Food market. The proprietors especially Omar have been so kind & generous to m. If I hadn't had enough money they trusted me to come back and pay them the balance. NOBODY DOES THAT IN SF OR ANY WHERE ELSE. I'm going through my 4th bout of colorectal cancer and they are always there for me. My husband who I have been with 35 years; married for almost 30 years this April 2023 have decided that he doesn't want to deal with my 4x colorectal cancer doesn't want to deal with it anymore. But I've always been able to count on the owners of the Key Market to help me out especially when I was so weak to get my purchases up my stairs. I appreciate them so much and they're a blessing to our communit! Please support these generous guys because I don't know how I could've survived without them.KEY MARKET IS A BLESSING IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD SO PLEASE SUPPORT THEM. Sincerely Michele GOULET

WE LOVE OMAR. Key food liquor has become a lifeline for us. We see Omar daily (very much deliberately because we adore him) and he has a fabulous selection of snacks, alcohol, and essentials. If we run out of toilet paper, we're there and it's steps away from home. Omar makes our community feel alive and well. We never walk out of his store without saying how wonderful he is and how much we love him. Not to mention how safe Major makes us feel. Always on the job.
