Great ambiance and even better service! And the sushi.... so good!!We were 17 girls celebrating a birthday and were so happy this restaurant was able to accommodate. Sushi came out so quick and so well done and presented. We definitely enjoyed ourselves and the food.. great portions.

Moving up to SF from the South Bay, I struggled to find a sushi roll place in the city that really hits the mark in terms of quality and quantity that you'd typically find everywhere else in the Bay Area with SF sushi scene truly about nigiri, omakase, and sashimi quality. I'm confident to say after a year of being here that I have found the best sushi rolls in the city at Kazan in the mission. I typically get the Last Samurai (XXL) and the 49er roll. When I eat sushi, I love to binge so I'm trying to find the biggest rolls you can possibly get, which is what Kazan is all about and you'd honestly just need one roll to get completely stuffed. The Last Samurai is big enough to be two rolls in one with tons of spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, and crab meat and the 49er roll is salmon sashimi on top of oversized California rolls, a staple I get at any sushi restaurant that has it. The first time I ordered here, I didn't realize on DoorDash you had to tab on utensils and condiments to get them. The second time I ordered, they called to make sure I wanted it so I didn't not have them again. They also were super polite about it, even when I was pretty mad that they didn't include it the first time (being a mistake on my side). If you're looking for the best sushi rolls in SF, you'll find it at Kazan.

First of all, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean & cute it was inside. A little gem on 24th.Got takoyaki, the threesome roll, & the 24th st roll. All were very good! The takoyaki was solid, but I wouldn't have been too sad without it.Typically I like sashimi/nigiri, but the balance of flavors and sauces on each were great and the fish cuts were thick. Everything tasted fresh. And it wasn't too expensive either!

Tasty and fresh sushi set in a dim, intimate atmosphere. Space is small but nice with very friendly service. Weekend visit during early evening for a group of 3 as a walk in. Only a couple other diners and we were sat right away. Pride (Rainbow) Roll - crab and avocado topped with tuna, salmon, hamachi, green onion. Good balance of fishes with creaminess and sweetness from avocado and crab respectively. Shishito Fries - tempura battered and fried shishito pepper. Crispy and not oily which made them enjoyable to eat.

You'll often find a tradeoff between price and quality for Bay Area sushi, but I believe this to be a false dichotomy. Because if you know where to look, you'll find gems like Kazan which excel in both. Kazan's nestled in an unassuming, smaller space on the 24th street stretch. But, do notes: big things come in small packages. My date suggested this place (he's a frequent patron), so he pretty much ordered our spread. Not too peckish, we had two nigiri samplers, calamari, and an a la carte otoro nigiri. The attention to detail with the miscellaneous garnishes and blow torch finishes on every nigiri seemed straight out of your average upscale sushi experience, yet Kazan's dishes come at a fraction of the price. Factoring in the sheer quality, the sushi is pretty darn good, but when additionally factoring in the cost, my God, the sushi is a godsend. Our waitress was also attentive, ensuring to bring out chilled glasses for our beer to share. It's dispiriting to dine at Kazan, only to head back to the sushi desert that is Danville, but I guess that just means I'll have to make the trek out for another visit.

Quality fish! Big portions for an appropriate price! I can't speak to service or ambiance because I order their food over a delivery service, but I was very impressed by the quality of their dishes. The Sashimi Don (although branded as small) were the perfect size. The slices of salmon were large and super fresh (there was no fishy taste or smell). I would definitely come here to dine in to try their other dishes from the expansive menu.

Wow what a hidden gem! I was honestly blown away by Kazan. Service was excellent and food came out SO fast! Every dish we had was delicious, we had the 24th st, threesome, last samurai, and the salmon carpaccio. My favs were the 24th st and the last samurai but everything was amazing!! I highly highly recommend coming here. This will now be my go to stop for sushi in SF!

I love the sushi from Kazan! They really pack the rolls with a lot of fish and it was very fresh. I also really enjoyed the sashimi salad. It had a lot of good flavor and it was packed with fish. The service was good. I would definitely come back.

GOOD but pricey. Stumbled upon this little Izakaya/sushi spot while trying to get a drink in the mission area. I had a good experience, but man oh man, this place is a little pricey. The bluefin tuna sampler was my favorite thing that we ordered. Each cut was super thick, and it came with 8 total pieces beginning with the leaner cut and progressing towards the rich and buttery otoro. UGH so good but damn $48. I thought the third cut of tuna, the chutoro, actually tasted better than the otoro because it wasn't overwhelmingly rich. Still, all very tasty and served with grated wasabi and a wasabi relish. The mushroom fries and the shishito fries were also very good, nice and crispy and costs $11 and $10, which wasn't terrible. The spicy salmon kama had a nice kick to it, seared perfectly and still very juicy, not overcooked at all. $16 for kama is pretty standard. And lastly we ordered a bottle of kikusui sake at $69/bottle and that definitely set our bill higher than expected, but you can't have fried tapas without sake. It's the cherry on top.Overall, I would definitely come here again, but would be a little more careful on picking the expensive items on the menu. Although I'd say their fish quality is pretty great.

10/10. I went to Kazan for a birthday lunch & it was surprisingly RLY GOOD. It was EMPTY when we came in on a Thursday around 130pm so we were a bit sus about if we came into a mid restaurant. Naaaaahhhhh Once the food came out LEMME TELL U, it was so good. I got the lion king roll (my FAVORITE - 10/10), firecracker roll (9/10), threesome roll (8/10). I also got the Chirashi bowl which was pretty good-- really fresh & filling. But i honestly liked the rolls better. I wouldn't say it's a place for a fancy meal- i think it's more fitting to come in for casual vibes. The lighting was really dark but we got seated near a window so it was okk. Would def recommend & come again.Another plus- it's dog friendly!
