This spot hits close to home since they had a the flagship location in the Philippines and my mom and her siblings lived the location. We use to come here a lot between 2010-2021, but when the pandemic hit we stop visiting San Fran/Daly City for a while. We visited it today and we were the only ones eating dinner at 6:30pm on a Saturday. Food is still great but process seemed to have increased. Cannot go wrong with the Yakitori and the famous Kamameshi Fried Rice. Service was speedy and he was a kind young man.

This was my first time dining here and it was recommended by a family member. This place is the worst sushi place I have ever experienced. Service was bad. Food was bad. Fish quality was awful. We ordered the most basic items, but they couldn't deliver quality rolls in a decent amount of time. First of all, we waited for over an hour to be served everyone's food, and we didn't order a lot because we were not that hungry (1 CA roll, mixed tempura, 2 orders of Tekka Maki, and 1 yellowtail roll). There were only 2 other booths with 2 guests. The tempura was the only item that was served in a decent amount of time. However, when the Tekka Maki and yellowtail rolls were served, it looked as if an inexperienced sushi chef made it because it lacked fish and it was rolled really sloppy. When we requested to have both rolls made again, we found out they had a chef in training. When we received the new rolls, 2 huge yellowtail bones were found and it still didn't have good presentation. The California Roll had over cooked mushy rice that lacked the seasoned rice flavor and had way too much sesame seeds. It's obvious this person is not a true sushi chef and it appears the owner allows an unexperienced sushi chef to make subpar food to be served to customers. If you like subpar sushi, then go for it. I consider myself a sushi snob that enjoys quality sushi made by an "experienced" true sushi chefs, so this place is not for me. It's a shame they wouldn't comp us for the bad experience like finding the bones. I'm just happy I didn't order other items like sashimi or Nigiri.

little hole in the wall japanese restaurant hidden behind the Benz dealership. Has that mom and pop comfort home feeling. They have an extensive menu, but unfortunately at the moment, they do not serve any sushi items. They do not currently have a sushi chef on staff. They had a sign posted at the door as well as in the counter, but we figured we were there already and my friend was craving their sukiyaki. The staff was friendly and very attentive. I ordered a grilled squid, presentation was nice, but the squid was cold and borderline undercooked. The agadashi tofu was extra crunchy; it was my first time to taste a version that used a panko crumb coating. The beef sukiyaki was a very large portion. It came out steaming hot.

We use to love this place. Not sure what happened but I do not recommend. I asked for California Rolls - they told me no sushi chef (6 months already) we order Bento boxes - tempura TERRIBLE! Teriyaki chicken had NO SAUCE and was dry as hell!! This place has gone down hill! So disappointing!!

Food is still good even after decades. Generous portions and love their sushi. I ordered the dragon roll and pork tonkatsu while my friend got the combo bento box with California rolls and salmon teriyaki - both excellent. Oddly, it took a long time for my salmon sashimi to come out but otherwise great service! They even gave me a discount on the bill due to the delay, so no complaints here!

My wife and I came here with a craving for japanese curry, rather, at least I wanted it. This place popped up on Google and it's a five minute drive from us, so we gave it a try. Upon entering, my nostrils were assaulted by a very unpleasant smell, the same smell that reminded me of a pub bathroom (like urinal cakes and cigarette butts mixed together). Conversely, the decor is actually nice and reflects what you'd expect of a typical Japanese restaurant, zabuton and all. Regardless, we were greeted by a friendly hostess and she promptly sat us at an available table. My wife ordered the sukiyaki with a side of vegetable tempura. I ordered my coveted pork katsu curry. The sukiyaki was actually half decent, albeit the beef was a bit on the dry side and there was hardly any of it. The vegetable tempura was breaded and cooked perfectly, honestly no complaints there. When I ordered my curry, I requested that it be very spicy. Upon eating the curry, it seems the chef couldn't be bothered to fulfill my request as it tasted mild in spice. Otherwise, it was marginally good and the sauce wasn't too salty. The pieces of sliced pork katsu was crispy, even with it being doused in the curry sauce. A boiled egg would have improved the dish, but that's just me. At the time of this posting, they had an ad on their front door window for a job position for a sushi chef and that they were not currently serving sushi. Not a good sign. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but not a particularly memorable one either. The upside is that it's close to where I live.

I know this place has been around for years and I finally gave them a try. I got the bento box with salmon and one other item, which i picked tempura. The portions are huge. However, i found my salmon to be on the dry side, maybe it was overcooked. Their service was ok, they brought my friend's miso soup out before mine. I actually waited awhile before i reminded them for mine. I found their seaweed to taste a little odd, more slimy to be honest. I didn't quite enjoy my soup. The tempura can use a little bit more seasoning. Overall, the price is reasonable due to the large portion, but i didn't really sit comfortably here, as i felt the seats were dirty.

I had an awful experience at this place. Kamameshi House Japanese Cuisine is not an actual Japanese restaurant, it's Filipino owned venue that serves Japanese cuisine. We came here on a rainy Saturday evening. The restaurant wasn't all that busy, but it looked like they had lots of orders for pick up. Our massive party of 17 were seated towards the back of the restaurant. Kudos to them for accommodating such a large party: Adults seated at the large main table and the kids had their own table as well. The particular spot I was seated had cigarette smoke smoke hovering around...just couldn't get rid of it! I sat at the very end of the table facing the restaurant with the kitchen at my back. It literally felt like someone was smoking in the kitchen and the smoke was coming through into the restaurant. Cigarette smoke is a my kryptonite...it's the one thing that can make me ill on a regular basis. Sooo...I got sick that evening. I was coughing up a storm all evening and even left the table to go outside the last 30 minutes. I'd still say the worst part of the evening was the service...there was none. First of all the food took forever and a half to come out...nothing complicated just rolls on the menu. By the time everything came out an hour and fifteen had gone by! Nobody checked up on our table, we didn't get any refill for water or tea...nothing!Food:~ Lover's Roll - 3/5Note. Eat the roll with the Lemon slice on it, thus giving it a slightly different flavor. Other wise just a mediocre roll. ~ Exotic Roll - 2/5Nothing special. Just a standard sushi roll.I'm almost certain I won't ever be back...

Writing this review based on an office pick up order, so I wasn't able to see whether the place is clean (considering the most recent negative reviews). I ordered a chirashi bowl because I'd been pining for sashimi lately and chirashi bowls are a great way to appease that craving. They gave me about nine different pieces of sashimi at two pieces each as well as some ikura. There was sake (salmon), maguro (bluefin tuna), hotate (scallops), cooked ebi (sweet shrimp, although I prefer them raw), shime saba (marinated japanese mackerel, lightly cooked), tai (sea bream), hamachi (yellowtail), and I'm not sure what the last one is or if it's also tai. One of them had a light peppered crust like pepper crusted tuna sashimi. It was a new experience for me having this in chirashi. Kamameshi also provided wasabi (fake), ginger, wakame (seaweed salad), and a cucumber flower (cuteee). I'm giving Kamameshi 3.5 because of their effort in execution. While I did enjoy eating my chirashi bowl, there were a few snags I couldn't seem to overlook. I didn't enjoy how there was wakame as it made the rice beneath the wakame green and taste like wakame. The cuts of sashimi were mostly different in size. The pepper crusted sashimi, lightly cooked saba, and the cooked ebi, I could have done without--or at least replace the cooked ebi with raw amaebi. Other than a few hiccups, the sashimi tasted fresh and not dry. There was also some teared roasted seaweed beneath some of the sashimi, kind of giving you the option to make your own semi-sushi bites. I very much enjoyed eating the ikura, I loveee when it pops in my mouth. Yum. It was also great how they gave let you try so many different sashimi. Overall, Kamameshi isn't bad, but it's also not my favorite for chirashi. I would love to try other options on their menu if I ever find myself ordering here again.

The servers were friendly. One waitress was especially friendly because she clarified with us what our order was before sending the order to the kitchen. As for the food, it was delicious and flavorful in general, so I have no complaints about it. However, the service has way for improvement. The waiters made two mistakes which could've been avoided: 1) They got our order wrong. We had three people ordering bento boxes and one person didn't want salmon, but the kitchen misunderstood this as all three people not wanting salmon. This could have been avoided if the waiters make sure the request is communicated clearly. As a result, we purchased a dish of salmon.2) We ordered Hamachi Kama (a fish dish). Upon close inspection, after cutting the fish open for consumption, we found that it was pink inside, indicating that it was raw. As a result, we paid for another Hamachi Kama dish.Overall, I would give this restaurant 4 stars because there is no issue with the food experience, but the ordering process could be improved, since it caused inconvenience for both the customers and the employees. I would still come back, though :D
