Was able to snag a reservation for this place for valentines dinner. Unfortunately, a 5:15 PM reservation and for the day after Valentine's Day. This place has been on my to try list for about 2 years now and finally had the chance to try it. I think this place mainly specializes in pasta and crudo? We opted for the tasting menu for 120pp since it was a special occasion and gives us an opportunity to try a little bit of everything.Trout roe pudding (3/5): This dish was a chef compliment that was not part of the tasting menu, but the chef gave us each one to try. It tasted like the spread of a bagel. The roe was very salty and fish, but smoky at the same time. The pudding part tasted very light and sour, almost similar to a yogurt.Miyagi oyster (3/5): This oyster came with an apple piece. I thought the apple over took the flavors of the oysterHokkaido scallop crudo (4/5): Came with their crunchy thing and marinated with citrus. I loved how the citrus brought out the flavors of the scallop. The scallop was very soft.Striped bass (5/5): this dish had some nuts over it. I really liked how it wasn't too soft and the soft texture balanced with the nuts.Ambjack (5/5); This one was my favorite crudo. It came with a tangerine. I thought the amberjack had the perfect crudo taste. It was tender but bursting with flavor.Smoked octopus rigatoni (2/5): I was really excited about this dish because I love octopus, but I was disappointed by this dish. It tasted like a typical tomato pasta. In addition the pasta tasted undercooked as it was pretty though and the octopus was hard too as I expected it to be tender.Cencioni (5/5): Now this dish blew my mind. The ravioli shaped pasta was filled mushroom and combined with such powerful flavor.Black Truffle Tagliattelle (3/5): This dish is the truffle pasta but with truffle shavings. It was my first time having actually truffle and I thought it was okay. This dish was a bit too heavy for me, especially with the creamy sauce.dasChocolate Budino (5/5): I'm not a chocolate fan, so I thought it was okay; but definitely recommend this for chocolate lovers. It comes in this individual container. It was like a chocolate putting with a refreshing taste.Overall I recommend the tasting menu if you want to try a bit of everything. But if I go next time, I'd rather get the a La carte.

Came in on a Sunday evening at 6:15pm with reservations. Thank god I had reservations because it was quite busy. Bluefin Tuna w/ quince vinegar, Serrano and roasted onions: 3/5, an average dish that didn't have much flavor to it. Miyagi Oysters w/ apple, horse radish, Pickle mustard seed: 5/5 The apple was a good touch, it added some sweetness. The horse radish and pickle mustard seed was very light. The oysters were definitely tasty though. Rigatoni Pasta: 2/5 Decent pasta that had some meat, a bit too salty though. Portion was small! Cencioni Pasta: 3/5 Average mushroom pasta. At least it was more filling than the rigatoni. Chocolate Budino: 4/5 Rich creamy and chocolatey of course. Can't go wrong with this dessert.Unfortunately I feel like I left hungry despite paying about $180 for the bill.

First off, the food was INCREDIBLE!Best Italian I've had in a long time.Complements to the CHEF.But the SERVICE was awful!Stuck up - snooty, ignored everyone. We spent over $700, not one thank you.Nothing.Felt ignored the whole night. And they weren't that busy...I've worked in restaurants my whole life... and the girls working the floor...sucked.We will never go back.Sadly, cause the food was super good.

My Valentine's Day date dinner! We were promptly seated at the bar when we arrived for our 7pm reservation. The tiny place was packed (granted it was Valentine's) but service was still attentive. We ordered the scallop crudo, broccolini, mushroom cencioni, and braised lamb belly to share between the both of us. The scallopcrudo was my favorite, albeit thin but so flavorful. Broccolini was good but not outstanding. Mushroom cencioni was delicious and I especially liked the crunchy breadcrumb-like topping. The braised lamb was so tender but the sauce was a bit overwhelming. The horseradish-like sauce dollops on the plate were most necessary to enjoy the dish.Overall, a great place for date night or girls' night out. I'm more interested in trying more of their variety of crudos.

TLDR: This is a really nice place for a date night or night out with the girls, but you will need to get a reservation to ensure you get a table. We were able to get seated as a walk in at the bar, but sitting across with 4-5 people isn't ideal for conversations. We arrived right when they opened around 5pm. The food was delicious and had nice flavor profiles, but was expensive for the portion size. But if you don't care about that, then this is a great spot.Food: 4/5We ordered the cencioni, rigatoni, and mafaldine pastas. I think of the 3, my favorite was the mafaldine as it had a very nice blend of creamy and black pepper flavors. If you like a creamy pasta like an alfredo, this is the best option. The cencioni reminded me of a beef stroganoff, so if that's your vibe it's a cleaner and almost fancier version of it. The rigatoni was my least favorite because there really wasn't anything special about it. It was kind of just like a spicy marinara sauce. I know it's common for portion size to be small for these types of restaurants, but it's really not a place that will be filling without breaking the bank kind of place. This is also coming from a fairly broke grad student who wanted to splurge lol, so keep that in mind. I was still quite hungry after so I had to grab a snack and boba afterwards.Staff/Service: 5/5For the most part the staff seemed nice, our water glasses were always filled, but other than that no one really checked in on us until the end for the check/clean up. Space: 4/5It's a very aesthetic and clean space, but not a whole ton of seats inside. It was fairly loud, could barely hear the person next to me. Parking was nonexistent, but that's mainly because SF in general doesn't have any parking anywhere.

We came here for dinner on New Year's Eve. They had a special tasting menu. We wanted to try a variety of different items so we both got that and paired it with their recommended drinks as well. Everything on the menu was so well thought out - the flavors, the presentation, and the pairings. We were so impressed! In addition, the staff was great and the ambiance was nice. Perfect for a date night. We had such a great time and would love to come back again to try other items. Hats off to the chef!!

This is definitely one of the best Italian places I have ever eaten at. I came by for my birthday dinner and dang it did not disappoint at all. We came in without a reservation at 6 PM, particularly early to try and reserve the tiramisu - a secret menu item. They only serve 6 a night and by some luck, we were able to lock one down. The broccoli starter is fantastic. So much flavor is an appetizer. The veggies are perfectly cooked and full of so much subtle flavor. I can't even begin to describe the nuttiness and chilly and cheesy flavor. Wow. I knew I was in for a fantastic meal. The focaccia was also very soft and perfectly salty. We had opted for a vegetarian meal overall, so ordered the cappelletti and the cencioni. Wow, these were fantastic!! The cencioni was so earthy and umami. The mushrooms were such a good flavor and rounded out the dish so well. We couldn't get enough of the sauce and had never tasted a vegetarian pasta with so much deep flavor. The cappelletti was also amazing. It was so creamy but light. It was just full of pops of flavor and it was so hard to not order a second. The tiramisu, while was the hardest to order, was unfortunately not as incredibly impressive as the other dishes. It was vey good, but not enough to specifically order or only serve 6 a night. It was massive in portion, but I would come back for the pasta in an instant. The service was great and the food was just incredible! Definitely a strong recommend.

Made reservations for 2 people on a Friday at 6:30. Got seated promptly once we arrived. A decent drink selection, I ordered a glass of red and my husband ordered their ipa. Standouts: miyagi oysters (4)Amberjack crudo Cencioni give mushroom sugo Spaghetti cantabruan anchovy These were all delicious. I think the cencionic coined shaped mushroom pasta was cooked perfectly. Same with the spaghetti cantabrian anchovy. The beef tartare was just ok, a bit sour for my liking. All in all I'd come back to try out their other pastas.

From earlier this year--great option for pasta in the mission district. We were able to be seated for two at 7pm on a Sunday without a wait. Cozy interior and a relatively simple menu.We opted to order two crudo dishes, two pastas, and a dessert. The scallop and amberjack were both fresh and melt-in-your-mouth, and I especially enjoyed the preserved lemon with the sea beans in the scallop dish. Their pasta was cooked al dente with a good ratio of the sauce, definitely on the saltier side. Dessert was my favorite--almond cake with blueberry compote and buttermilk gelato. The cake was crumbly/warm and paired well with the slight tartness of the compote, tied together with the hint of sourness from the creamy gelato. Solid choice for dinner!

Went here for the tasting menu and was pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent, with more of a focus on seafood than expected, and very tasty. They did do a back to back to back pasta course, with pasta that while delicious was not terribly dissimilar from the other dishes. Overall the meal was great. The service was ok, felt at times rushed like everyone wanted to drop off food and leave as fast as possible. Not overly unpleasant, just not particularly friendly. Restaurant was modern and clean aesthetically, no cozy bistro here, but matched the spirit of the menu. An enjoyable date spot, and the tasting menu is worth it if you're really hungry.
