Great sandwich spot! Pretty affordable with big portions. I usually get the Giant's sub on because turkey sandwiches are my favorite. This one also has bacon, avocado, cheddar and comes with lots of fresh veggies like lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and pepperoncinis. I always get it on Dutch crunch and it never disappoints!Just note it's a small spot that's to go only. No seating except for a bench outside.

Finally a sub spot that reminds me of the hoagies on the east coast! I loved the Godfather sandwich they had... Was perfect. I ordered from Door Dash when I was at work. I can't wait to have the team try this place!Great sandwich!

This is one of the few places left in SF where you can get a sandwich for under $10 (as of January 2025). I got a build-your-own sandwich with pastrami on Dutch Crunch with no cheese for $9.75, and they did not skimp on the toppings or meat. Their bread seemed slightly thinner than other sandwich shops, which worked well here given how stuffed the sandwich was. Their garlic mayo was good, though I think I prefer the slightly stronger flavor from Bite-Me Sandwiches or Lou's Cafe.I also like that they have online ordering, in addition to being on apps like UberEats and DoorDash (note that prices are slightly higher on those apps). The wait was a bit longer than I had hoped given that I was a bit on the later side for lunch (over 30 minutes from when I placed the order online around 12:45 until it was ready), but I suppose it speaks to the popularity of the place. Overall, a tasty and good value spot for a sandwich.

Best sandwich in the area!! They pack their sandwiches tightly and they don't skimp on the fillings. All the flavors go together so well, and I especially love their garlic mayo + DUTCH CRUNCH! I'm happy the bread stayed crunchy, even after an hour when I ate it.They can get pretty busy on the weekends, so be prepared to wait around 20 minutes. I appreciate the wonderful service despite being busy.

It's been at least a decade since I've eaten Dutch crunch bread. I used to enjoy thick slices of it as a kid, and it was always a treat since I didn't get it very often, and it outshines a classic French loaf. As I got caught up with life, I nearly forgot about it until I moved to San Francisco last year and read an article by the SF Gate that claimed Dutch crunch is a regional specialty in Northern California. It suddenly made sense to me why I'd never seen it anywhere else. After reading the article, I eagerly looked up where I could find Dutch crunch bread in the city. I bookmarked a few spots to try but then again got busy. Now, finally, over the long weekend, I went on a foodie crawl along Irving and adjacent streets and spontaneously stopped in to order a sandwich to-go here. I really like how Irving Subs offers several vegan and vegetarian options. This was the top spot I wanted to try because of that reason. Sandwiches can be kind of heavy since they're loaded with ingredients, so I like to get mine with meat alternatives and lots of veggies. I ordered the soy spicy sandwich on a toasted Dutch crunch roll, and it was ready for pick-up at the takeout window bit later. When I got home, I quickly devoured half of it. It was so delicious! The tofu was nice and firm, and the bread was fresh and dense just the way I like it. I'm happy I found a great spot that combines a childhood treat I knew and loved with healthy ingredients that suit my current lifestyle.

Small shop, big taste! I stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and there was quite the foot traffic ranging from online pickup orders to in-person orders. Service was fast, limited seating indoors and a bench right outside; definitely more of a grab and go kind of place.I ordered a "custom" sandwich, pastrami on sliced sourdough with havarti cheese and all their veggies, toasted. 10/10 for this! Portions were perfect and their house sauce was just amazing.Highly recommend this spot!

What I ordered:** 9/10: Nick's Protein Fix? - $14- on Dutch crunch with the works (everything on it)... SO GOOD AND CRUNCHY - this was on their specials menu, but it should be a menu staple!- tuna salad, mild coppa? (i don't remember!!), and avocado- it truly is a basic sub done well. - sub was around 6"After failing to try the famous restaurant across the street twice, this time we ended up picking Irving Subs for lunch. Honestly it may have been fate because this was truly one of the best sandwiches I've had in a while! It's a small store, located on the corner of 12th and Irving. There are 3? seats inside, so it's pretty much a grab and go. Luckily it is walking distance from GGP, so we enjoyed our sandwich at the Botanical Garden. A hidden gem and must try if you're ever craving a quality sub! Food: 9/10Service: 10/10Total: 9.5/10

Disclaimer, I ordered from Irving Subs Too (but they don't seem to have a Yelp page yet) and through doordash. Sandwich was great. The Dutch crunch was rough against the roof of my mouth, as it should be. The sandwich is a very healthy size and portion. Order through doordash came fast, and it maintained the toasty bread status well (though it didnt travel super far). I personally would not keep the cold cheese next time, but that's just me. Looking forward to ordering from them again.
