Came here on a Saturday for lunch and there was a 5 minute wait for 2 people which is not bad. We sat inside and you scan the QR code, pay for it in advance, then they'll bring the food out. We got the Hinodeya Ramen & the Spicy Miso Butter Corn Ramen with medium spice. Both ramens were good and filling. The chashu pork was thick slice (which is great)! The egg was good as well. If anything, I thought the spicy miso butter corn was a tiny bit oily but other than that, it was tasty. The service was good as well. During the time I ate, I noticed that there was an older couple next to me who couldn't get the QR code to work, so the server gave out physical menus which was kind. There was also a gentlemen who didn't know how to pay beforehand, so he paid afterwards with the square payment. I appreciate that the restaurant is accommodating to others who are not familiar with the new kinds of digital menus and payments that are now all online. Ambiance was full but quiet in a way, it was really nice. There were also some people who ate solo as well. There is literally no parking - good luck with finding street parking. I would recommend to take BART up to Powell St then walk over. Or, take Uber/lyft over. It's a decent ramen spot in the middle of downtown near Union Square!

Pretty good ramen place near Union Square. I came here on a rainy afternoon, trying to escape the vendors at the conference that I was attending. There were several people waiting outside, but since I was on my own the staff was able to put me at a small table for one right away.Ordering is via a QR code at the table. We're all seeing this a lot more, and I'm not a fan. It's just another way that society has become more impersonal and digitized. Throughout the entire meal, as food came to my table and my water glass refilled, I don't think anyone said a single word to me.Anyways, I wasn't here for conversation. I perused the menu on my phone and made my choices. I was aware that their spicy miso ramen is the favorite, but I wasn't in the mood for anything too piquant.Takoyaki - nicely presented with a big pile of bonito flakes on top, which I appreciated. However, the octopus content was disappointing, as there were just tiny chunks in the otherwise large fritters.Hinodeya house ramen - noodles were perfect, broth was tasty with just a hint of seafood flavor (it's made with scallop bouillon, and scallops don't usually have a strong fishy flavor). It was a little heavy with green onions and I didn't care for the raw spinach leaves, but I appreciated the thick slices of pork and and the properly-cooked jammy egg yolk.I appreciated being allowed a somewhat leisurely pace for my meal. I had time to enjoy the takoyaki before the soup came out. It was a good experience; with a few tweaks to the preparation this would have been a really excellent experience.

Super small restaurant, the tables are very close together and even then, they managed to squeeze our party of 6 and a party of 9 after us. Even on a night of the Chinese new year parade, we waited only about 20mins. The food choices are great and I appreciated the spicy notes which allowed me to pick the right level for my tastebuds. We tried the spring rolls and the gyoza as well and both were great!

Great spot to satisfy my ramen craving when I'm around Union Square. The Hamuguri Ramen comes with a generous amount of littleneck clams and the service is very fast & efficient, especially if you use the QR code provided at each table. Will definitely be back for the Spicy Butter Corn Ramen as I've heard good things about that dish also.

Spent some time around union square and looked around for a quick bite! Found hinodeya to warm up during the cold weather in S.F. I was intrigued with the spicy butter miso ramen! The bowl looks amazing, but I wasn't the biggest fan of their noodles. They also didn't thoroughly cook some of the noodles I had (bummer). The broth flavor was good, but I was a little disappointed getting the level 4 out of 5 spiciness. The spicy level was nonexistent. Mild at the most. I did like how on the table they had this deep fried garlic/ chili pieces that added a nice crunch to your ramen. I haven't seen that available at other ramen places. Maybe Sunday wasn't a good day to come in :(

Hinodeya Ramen in Union Square is a cozy spot with a welcoming atmosphere, making it a great choice for a casual meal. There's plenty of seating indoors, and a few tables outside if you want to enjoy your food al fresco. Street parking is available, but as with most spots in the area, it can take a bit of patience to find a space.I ordered their signature dish, the Hinodeya Ramen, and really enjoyed the perfectly cooked noodles--they had just the right amount of chew. The chashu was tender and flavorful, a definite highlight of the dish. On the downside, the soup wasn't as hot as I would've liked. It arrived lukewarm, which made it less satisfying. I think it would have been much more enjoyable if served steaming hot.I also tried their chicken karaage, but unfortunately, it didn't wow me. The flavor and texture reminded me of the chicken you'd find in the Costco freezer aisle. It was not bad, but definitely not the standout I was hoping for. What made my visit a little extra special was the fun surprise of running into some friends already dining inside. It was easy to find a table since there's plenty of space, and it added a nice social element to the experience.Overall, Hinodeya Ramen is worth a visit for their house ramen, which shines with its noodles and chashu. With a few improvements, like serving the soup hotter and stepping up the karaage, it could easily reach 5 stars in my book!

Came here for lunch and tried their creamy vegan ramen with regular noodles. Had to scan a QR code and order on their website. Did medium spice but wasn't that spicy. The ramen was average but the service was quick. The spicy edamame was great! Would definitely get that again.

A nice stop a few years ago is now lousy. Tasteless ramen that seemed old. Mushy eggs and mushy edamame. My guest did not even get a few mouthful down. Was there a fix. Not when you never get checked on and have to resort to speaking Spanish just to get the bill and leave. I know labor is an issue in the city but at this point just covert over to robots.

This place was okay I wish they had a non spicy option for the miso broths so that I could get more of the actual broth flavor instead of the spice.I ordered the Spicy Miso Butter Corn ramen. Instantly tossed the butter because I don't like broths that heavy. The overall flavor was not bad but I feel like it could have been so much better without the spice at all. Noodles were cooked al dente and the chashu was decent.Wouldn't make the trip to another Hinodeya location because nothing really stood out. Ramen Hajime is still easily my #1 pick anywhere in the US for ramen.
