I had high hopes for this store when it first moved in, but the reality is that I can't shop here, because it's NOT WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE. It could be really easily if the employees wouldn't clutter the aisles with boxes and superfluous displays, if carts of promoted items weren't destroying reasonable turn-radii, if everything wasn't shoved so close together! I get that it's a neighborhood grocery store that isn't as big as Safeway, Foods Co, Trader Joe's, or Rainbow, but it's the only grocery store in the area I can't access in my mobility-assistance device because I literally can't get down the aisles or turn from one aisle to another! I have an easier time navigating Bi-Rite, which is probably an eighth of the size of this place! Gus's even clutters the front entrance!!And this clutter is haphazard and unnecessary! It's just bad planning on the management's part. When I've mentioned the issue to employees in the past, they seem completely uninterested in helping in any way.Lest you think this is just an issue inside the grocery store, it's also an issue in the parking area: In the evening, the employees start breaking down the displays of produce in front of the store and putting them in the garage...and OF COURSE they put them all in the few ADA-accessible parking spaces!! Talking about insult to injury!!I've completely given up on this store. I can't shop here, and the employees don't seem to have any interest in fixing the issues around wheelchair-accessibility here, so I doubt that will ever change. It's a shame, I'd prefer to give almost anyone my money other than Safeway, but honestly? Gus's Community Market might as well put a sign outside saying "We don't care about the ADA!"

It's a nice small grocery store, quite pricey, though. Prepared foods are quite good, and I like the sandwich punch card

Being from San Diego, I know my way around gourmet markets. This particular one is far from that. The hot bar had stale Chinese chicken, that was accompanied by stale fried rice. The rest of the hot bar was not stocked. The desserts also looked unappetizing. The whoopie cake was crumbling; and the red velvet cake looked drier than the Sahara desert. The freezer section was very minimal at best. I am seriously not understanding where all the 4+ star reviews are coming from... To top it off, a clerk racially profiled me by asking me "what do I have in my bag?" LMAO!I'm sorry, but nothing in this store is worth stealing. Rodent infested Safeway has better products, and that's saying a lot.

The deli employees at Gus's on Harrison work hard and consistently deliver great food. The price is very reasonable, portioning is consistent, there's no communication mistakes/misunderstanding when placing an order. The market itself is clean and organized.

Very convenient store for me to walk to for urgent food needs, organic produce, cheese, etc. For a very small grocery, they have a great selection and prefer going here versus Safeway. It can get crowded in the evenings, so time your visit to avoid waiting to check out.

High quality produce, meats and items. I love to shopping here because I find items that sometimes cannot find at other grocery stores. I also searched high and low for a standing rib roast for Father's Day and no store carried it in their store (it was a special order item) except for Gus's!

What really sets this Gus's apart (and don't get me wrong, I love the Haight Street location too) is their management and care for their customers. They persevered through the pandemic with poise and grace and (figuratively) bend over backwards to assist customers. Whether it be popular items running low or handling the sudden return of the "lunch rush" on weekdays now that so many of us are back to the office, this team really excels. A special shout out to Holt who really went the extra mile for a crazy sandwich order. And to the deli counter sandwich gurus, and the early morning coffee crew for being so locked in and consistent with our favorite orders (The Quake, The Meatball Sub and the Tofu Sando "Hot" on Dutch Crunch, plus a perfectly balanced double cap to-go). Gus's reminds you of the neighborhood markets you grew up with (their Haight Street location actually was one of our childhood markets that we would walk to with my Mom before we stopped by the old Real Food Co on Stanyan). PS: Bless your hearts for coffee and sandwich cards and Two Stamp Tuesday's (hug)

Got Gus's delivered for the first time and have to say was so impressed! I have been struggling to find my "go-to" sandwich spot and safe to say I found it.We got the Quake and light rail and both were delicious. The light rail is served hot with grilled chicken and peppers, hint add provolone for a delicious treat. The quake is a saucy take on an Italian and very filling.Definitely recommend if you are looking for a good quality sandwich. All ingredients seem fresh and they have organic options as well.

I love Gus's, and supporting a non-chain market. That said, smart-alec chashiers make the high prices harder to swallow, ya know?

Amazing job! Gus's on Harrison catered our wedding. We had a small budget and a huge number of people we wanted to feed. Not finding a caterer within our price range, we ended up ordering platters from Gus's and we ended up having the perfect amount of food which we got nothing but amazing compliments on. Gus's was easy to work with, the food looked amazing, and our guests devoured it. Thank you!
