I was hanging out at the Luma Hotel across from Gus's Market on Thursday. I was hungry, craving a really good fresh and healthy salad. I accidentally stumbled on this lovely neighborhood market. OMG! How can anyone give these guys anything less than 5 stars? I so badly wish they would open a place in Palm Desert near me.I got a Greek salad from their premade salad case. $10.99, loaded with goodness. Perfect nicoise style olives, big chunk of fresh feta cheese, lemon/olive oil dressing, lovely fresh slices of red onion and the goodness list goes on. They pack a moisture absorbing sheet between the greens and the salad accoutrements. Nobody does this! It makes for a fresher and/or crisper salad. The produce here was amazing. The soups? They all looked too good to eat. Their poke bar was outstanding. I wish I had something like this at home!If these folks were to open near me, I would stop in daily. Surprised none in SoCal had figured this out. This was essentially a small scale Erewhon. Anyone want to open one in SoCal? I will invest!

I visit this location often for the salad bar at lunch time. The bar is always well stocked and neat! The store is quite small so this area can get a little crowded but it is expected during lunch hour rush. The salad bar is well priced and they have a drink fridge right next to the area for convenience! Friendly staff always.Free parking in the garage- entrance is in the alley way/ street off the main road.

I ordered a sandwich through doordash and they were missing ingredients that I paid for. I did a custom turkey sandwich with bacon. There was no bacon or pickles. Also NOTHING on this sandwich is FRESH... THEY NEED THEIR ASS WHOOP FOR THIS SANDWICH. 22 dollars for WHAT. MONEY WASTED..The service was HORRIBLE because whoever made the sandwich just throw it together and forgot to add bacon and pickles. And only half of the sandwich has cheese.

* date visited: about 3 times in 2024* ordered: valencia on dutch and gus's on dutch a $12 sandwich in sf will do it every single time for me!!! i love how efficient and kind the service is, but more importantly i love these BIG sandwiches.they're so huge and filling and the flavor combinations are perfect. while i do like the gus special, i think the valencia is truly great -- i love the slices of apple and red onion, it's great contrast with the saltiness from the chicken. also sorry for the bad pics, phone did not eat first

A small outpost in mission bay with a decent hot bar selection. I don't grocery shop here much but I do I'll get hot bar food or sushi to go and it's never disappointed

This review is strictly for their sandwich bar. If my post history tells you anything it's that I am a sandwich ENTHUSIAST. I especially love buying a food sandwich to take with me to Giant's games. Well, Gus's community marked happened to be on my walk to the stadium and I am so happy I made a stop! I ordered at the counter and a nice man took my order. They listened to what I wanted and my sandwich was made perfectly. The bread was soft and perfectly chewy and crispy. The veggies were abundant and tasted super fresh. They PACKED the cheese in there as well. The sandwich was HUGE. I enjoyed every minute of eating this beautiful culinary delight. I will definitely come back here for more sandwiches.

The deli is amazing! I highly recommend anything from there. Make sure to bring your punch card if you're doing the sandwiches with the best deals being on Tuesday. The food at the market can be a bit pricy but it's all quality so it's a trade off. They have a phenomenal cheese selection that isn't too pricy so definitely recommend that as well.

This place needs some serious health inspection or need to look at their products carefully where they come from and how! I've seen tortillas has expirations date of last year, and I literally bought cheese yesterday (10/10/24) from this place so I could use it on my pasta today (10/11/24) we ended up finding mold already inside growing! The expiration date says next year Jan 2025, I just opened it and how can it go bad already ?!!

On the way to UCSF, I always passed by Gus's Community Market and always wanted to try their fresh food and groceries. I had an opportunity on a Tuesday to try their Sandwich of the Day, which was "The Wrangler". Each day of the week had a different sandwich. "The Wrangler" was delicious and the portion sizes were large. The tri-tip steak was flavorful, and the Dutch crunch bread was toasted to perfection. I will definitely be coming back to try their other sandwiches! Be sure to ask for a stamp card when they ring up your sandwich. The cashier was very kind to offer me one when I was checking out.Their produce are definitely more expensive than average, but the quality is there. I would occasionally get their fruit cups as a small snack and they always hit the spot.

Watch out for the youngish lad in the butcher section. He won't get things for you if they are not "easily accessible", even though he has it in the store. For context, I asked for jar of oysters, which they commonly have in the ice section, but it was 20 minutes to closing, and they had apparently cleared it up.Is it store policy to only get things for your customer that are "easily accessible" ? I will ask the manager, and report back. If it's not, I suggest they replace that lad with someone who actually aims to please the customers who pay his salary.
