Came back today to buy 3 lunch sandwiches. There was already a queue lined up to order! I didn't mind waiting! Chatted with a few customers and got some suggestions. We enjoyed the Signature Mortadella, Guerra's Roasted Turkey, and the Turkey Bacon Club sandwiches with everything, on Dutch Crunch bread! Very satisfying, fresh and delicious!!!

There is a diamond nestled in the Parkland hills, and its name is Guerra Quality Meats.I can only speak to their sandwiches and desserts, but wow, they are GOOD. The Toscano on dutch crunch is my emotional support sandwich, and I know the weekend is coming when I get that house-made herb-crusted pork loin Friday special. It's a regular crew of staff and I've always had positive interactions with them. They cut your sandwich meat to order on a giant deli slicer, and then they weigh it out so that you NEVER get skimped. Did I mention that the sandwiches are a great price too? It's a tight space, and there's no seating. But I still enjoy every moment looking around as I wait in line. A mouthwatering array of imported and in-house cured meats hang like a garland in the window. I'm often tempted by the macarons on the counter, and they've never done me wrong. The house made tiramisu is also delightful. There is a nourishing sense of community in this establishment, and that's the real reason why I keep coming back. Dear Guerra's, never change.

Being a native San Franciscan, I can probably count on just one hand how many times I've been here to shop! Well it's early January and we were searching for a 15-20 lb whole turkey. Whole Foods - nope, a number of Safeways - nope. I was going to call Bryan's on California when the light bulb clicks and I tell my wife Guerra's on Taravel and a quick call speaking with Aaron confirmed that they had a Diestel bird for 16+ lbs for $67. Perfect and within 15 mins we picked it up and a nicely shaped bird it is.

Well stocked butcher/grocer. Helpful staff. Happy they had filet migon on sunday. Not happy we had to trim the steaks. Lots of tendon, silver skin, and gristle. 24.7g to be exact. From five steaks.

For thanksgiving, my family wanted a standing rib roast for dinner. My uncle made turkey for thanksgiving lunch, so that was taken care of. I have been to Guerra in the past. They are an amazing market with awesome cuts of meats. I called 4 days ahead to reserve a 3 rib standing roast. It was very busy the Wednesday night before thanksgiving. The man behind the counter was very friendly and retrieved my preorder. He gave me suggestions on how to make the roast and show me a cooking chart. I also picked up their last bottle of horseradish. The roast was awesomely marbled. They are my favorite butcher shop in The City.

Before I came here, if you had asked me for the name of a high quality, family-run meat market in San Francisco, I would've hemmed and hawed and still not come up with a reasonable answer. Yes, I am a carnivore but mostly when somebody else is cooking the meat. Check, please! Gee, I haven't grilled anything in eons, but now I have an answer.I may even end up wearing a chef's hat and one of those long aprons that say something irreverent like 'I LIKE MY BUTT RUBBED' on the front. But before I do that, I should share that I was taking a long walk on Taraval and thought it looked promising from across the street. I really had nothing in mind to buy before entering the front door.Several customers were ahead of me, so I had time to peruse the long display cases of meat as well as the produce, dairy products, and beer on the other side of the shop. Helped by the friendly staff, I was frankly entranced by the wide selection and impulsively bought a couple of Artichoke & Garlic Chicken Sausage (photo: https://yelp.to/OzIztjtYjH) and a couple of prepared items - Chicken Parmesan and Eggplant Parmesan (photo: https://yelp.to/e9ZYVvZCvH).I didn't realize I was buying dinner for the next few days, and all the food turned out to be quite delicious. I grilled the sausage and cut it into slices in a homemade pappardelle dish. I just heated the parmesan dishes and saved myself the time to prepare them. So go ahead and ask me the name of a high quality, family-run meat market in San Francisco. I have an answer.FOOD - 5 stars...everything I bought here was fresh and delicious when I got homeAMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...temptations abound in a small spaceSERVICE - 5 stars...quite helpful and friendlyTOTAL - 5 stars...I do like my butt rubbedRELATED - Exploring the Sunset? I've always wanted to find a butcher shop I can go to regularly that has fresh meats and great service! This is quite a drive from where I live in SF but I still like to make stops around here to get some bone-in, skin-on chicken. The store itself is quite small and kind of a round-about type layout. They have a few fresh produce, pastas, soups - a one stop shop to make a full meal. The staff here is always so nice, knowledge, and keep the line going. When i first came here, the woman working was nice enough to remove the thigh bones for me for a recipe i was making. I've since then learned to remove the bone myself when needed. The chicken here is always fresh, never had a smell to it and just straight up delicious when cooked - their chicken here makes you seem and feel like a legit chef. I also get their breakfast sausages (fam fave) and bacon. They have other meats here that are prepared and ready to cook already (marinated or breaded).Parking can be a bit iffy lately because of the construction going on on Taraval but not impossible. The line moves quite fast since everywhere there is quick, helpful, and knowledgable.
