My neighborhood tip for living in Lower Pac Heights is to just skip Whole Foods if you're grocery shopping. Just walk past it. Don't bother with the prices. Don't bother with the alternative brands that don't look familiar. Don't bother with the lines. Go to Golden Farmer Market instead. Much cheaper, it's likely got what you're looking for, and you can be in and out in five minutes if you know what you want. I'd say I do the majority of my shopping here now as they mostly have what I need. Chicken, beef, milk, eggs, all your basic necessities and then some. I saw an amazing collection of instant ramens on the side and a huge variety of fruit and produce in the front. I call it my neighborhood tip, but it might be more like my neighborhood secret. You'll hardly bump into other shoppers here and you can check out almost immediately. And I'm sharing this secret with you friend, in hopes that you like this neighborhood grocery store as much as I do.

Good fresh produce market with decent prices. Nice variety of fruits and vegetables. Close enough to our hotel for a short walk to get there and back.

While Trader Joe's is nice, we can all agree the produce section is not - don't get to started on all the plastic used for their vegetables. Yes, there's also Whole Foods, but their variety of vegetables and fruit leaves a lot to be desired. I'm a papaya loving girl, and I love how Golden Farmers Market carries not just one ... but two different kinds of papaya - you definitely cannot find that at WF. I also love that when I check out, I still have money in the bank. Give it a try!

I've been coming here since I moved to the neighborhood in 2018. The change of ownership has brought a nice change and renovation to the store. It's cheaper than the bigger stores and has a great selection of foods. The selection here is great, they truly have everything from Italian, Asian, middle eastern and American pantry staples. It's nice to be able to get my canned san Marzano tomatoes, danmuji, and minor figures oat milk all at the same place. The produce section is hit or miss. I like supporting local stores like them because they don't stock the produce every single day like bigger stores like Whole Foods or Trader Joe's does, which is less sustainable and creates more food waste. In fact, once they were giving away free bananas (as many as you wanted) because they were browning. I made a banana bread out of the free bunch I grabbed. The produce is great when it's fresh but sometimes they might not have something in stock or not have a great selection at times. There's a small meat section but I honestly never buy meat from them. Service is amazing. Jasper, one of the workers that's been there forever is the sweetest and he is such a great employee. He will put in orders for me if I ask for a specific item if he's able to get it. The owner is extremely nice and kind. All the workers there are incredibly helpful and kind hearted people!

I've been shopping here for over 20 years, and while the ownership has changed it's still the same wildly diverse selection of produce, cheeses, dried and canned goods, and exceptionally inexpensive meats. Fruits are often on sale for a crazy low price, and items I forgot I even wanted are there on the shelf. It's in a ramshackle building that I love to hate, but hey - architectural concerns aside it's the place to buy groceries in the neighborhood, and I heartily recommend it.

I paid the too good food app $5.99 to receive a bag of $18 at the Golden Farmer Market. The cashier had no idea what I was talking about. Allegedly her manager argued with me about it, even after I showed him the app, his market in the app and the $5.99 debit from my bank account. Begrudgingly he walked around the store and put four items in a plastic bag: a bottle of organic juice, a container of marzipan Italian cookies, a bar of ghiradelli baking chocolate and a frozen Philly cheese stake sandwich, hardly adding up to $18.Don't shop here, period. I contacted the too good food app, and five days later it hasn't responded to my complaint or refunded my money.Don't use its app. Don't shop at the golden food market. Before the COVID crisis and shuttering, this market was closer than trader Joe's but not cheaper. The management has become surly and verbally combative.Shoppers beware and wary.C the pic below of the items they claimed totaled $18. Smfh.

I have been a loyal shopper here since 2014, different owners through the years, and I still gave my business during Covid. The cashiers, employees have always been friendly. Their quality of selections has gone down, while their prices have gone up a lot. Commercial brands like GOYA, charging organic prices. Still I would come and support them, buying produce and other grocery items. Today was a first... whoever the cashier, silent owner is who is fairly new was completely out of line by trying to pull a fast one on me, implying I hadn't paid for an item. When purchasing, I had a card with credit to use, then the difference with another card, which automatically shows on register. He then says oh, I didn't ring up. Then he starts over.. so again I use a card, then I ask ok I owe you a difference. Then using another card. No other cashiers have had an issue doing this. But no other cashier tried ripping me off. Then he says oh I need to start over. I'm watching him, he is trying to confuse me so I use a card, then pay the difference with another card. All go through, meanwhile a line has formed and I proceed to leave and he says, but I didn't charge you for an item. I was calm, shook my head and said, no I paid. He follows me outside saying, if you didn't have enough money, you should have said something. Are you kidding? He then says, don't come back. I have never shoplifted and I did have money and I did pay. Sounds like he is scamming to get more $$$ off customers. They fact he was implying me not having money to pay was completely sexist, and classist because I'm a women shopping.. Unbelievable, I won't be back after this. I will miss some of the employees there that were really kind.

I have been shopping mainly vege and fruits here at Golden Veggie since 1998. Multiple different owners took after the business in these 25 years. I was a loyal customer, but today, I have finally decided never to go to this store. In the past one year, I noticed had often been charged for things I did not buy at checkout counter. When I got bak home, I found the over-charged on my receipt, so I gave up on the hassle of driving all the way back to the store again to claim it. This occasion happned 1 of 2 times, so I assume the cashier is doing it intentionally.Today, I went back to the store to claim about another overcharged, and the employee, Sam, first made excuses and tried to trick me. He finally refunded for them. I spent much time and gasoline to go and come back, and don't want to repeat this in the future.
