I know how it looks to be reviewing a liquor store. I thought that, maybe, I could tszuj* it up by calling it a craft beer and wine boutique... but, no. I can't. It's a liquor store... and I'm a fan. Why?1.) A surprisingly good selection given the size of the store. Don't think that your only choices are Cisco, Mad Dog and/or Thunderbird.** Here, you'll have a pick amongst decent reds and whites to pair with any one of a number of meals at the various ethnic restaurants that adorn the street.2.) Cheap! For bottles that don't automatically come with a screw top and a brown bag, you might expect to pay for the privilege... especially in San Francisco. Not here! I got out of here with four bottles of wine*** for a very decent price. And, again, these were good bottles.3.) Patient worker behind the counter. I can't imagine that it's fun or easy to deal with the denizens who stumble in to a liquor store. But, on a random Tuesday night, despite me and my friend taking way too much time to make a decision and talking way too loudly, I didn't sense any sighs or side eyes. Sir, you are a far better man than I.*Totally had to look up how to spell that bad boy.**I did not have to look those up.***There were four of us. What? I will not apologize for the one person/one bottle rule. It's 2014. It's practically a standard.

Rainier Ale $7.50 a six FTW! Those who have been following my saga will understand why that garners an immediate "good as it gets". AND it's on the 30 route I take from BART every time I come into town. Now that truly is AGAIG.I was in and out within 3 minutes, but looking at the other reviews it is very clear I will be a regular here.

I had a fun night at Cobbs, I didn't have a phone charger so I went inside and asked if I could use one of theirs. Without thought they kindly obliged. I'm not from the area and it was late. While waiting on my ride I felt safe with wonderful conversation. All I want is an appreciation hoodie. Only the owner would know what I mean. Overall best market experience ever.

Thank You Golden 7 for:...saving me from the drunk, homeless man who was following my roommates and I down Columbus....offering a decent wine selection....taking credit cards (min $5) and staying open later than Willie's...super cool and friendly ownersSave Me Golden 7 with getting:...Coke Zero! For the love, get Coke Zero!! (minus 1 star)...Häagen-Dazs frozen yogurt- Dulce de Leche My roommate gives 5 stars for the "Pretty hefty porn collection! No seriously, Courtney, it fills like the entire two bottom racks!" Bubble of thought above Courtney's head fills: 'The entire bottom rack sounds extensive, but it's not like I'm taking notes on their porn selection for Yelp. I wasn't planning on it at least. But, hell maybe I should?!'Courtney speaks: "So, roommate, break it down...what are we talking here? Like, Playboy/Penthouse, or crazy Barely Legal?"Roommate: "Oh for sure, there's definitely some amateur!" Lmao. Get Coke Zero, Get 5 Stars.

I can't speak to the deli portion of this business, as my focus seems to generally be on alcohol when I am here. As far as convenience stores go this one is pretty damn good. The prices are reasonable and they have everything from 40s to fine wine and a great selection of the hard stuff....all in an easy to shop, friendly and clean environment. I would like to re-emphasize clean because not many corner stores impress me in this category. The other thing I love about this place is every single time I have been in here I see someone who looks like a rock star, and acts like a rock star...... yet I can't quite put my finger on who the hell they are.

For run of the mill liquor stores, I wouldn't suggest Golden 7. I've been here a few times and the service has been mediocre at best. This review is based on my latest experience today when we bought a bottle of wine this afternoon. Once we got home and discovered the wine was "corked" (bad and oxidized) we attempted to return it. We brought the wine to same cashier we checked out with and they wouldn't provide a refund or replacement bottle. Any wine seller should be aware of the fact that sometimes wine is corked, that's why you can return it at restaurants after a taste. Overall, this was a disappointing last encounter at Golden 7.
