Gioaia always saves me when I'm hungry and nearby the area, it's getting late, and I need something fast and filling and tasty. This is a little shop in Hayes with just one table but a good selection of grab-and-go slices (maybe not as many if you're vegetarian though). They've got that thin slice pizza with a nice crunch in the crust, slightly gooey cheese, and a good sauce-to-dough ratio. Although not ij the league of a true NY slice, it's probably one of the closer ones in SF. They have fast service and I've chowed these babies down while walking on the street lol.

Really good NY style pizza. The restaurant even emulates the feeling of being in a NYC pizza shop. We ordered garlic knots, salsiccia pizza, margherita pizza, and pepperoni pizza for takeout and it was ready at the expected pickup time. The garlic knots were a crowd favorite! And the side of marinara that it came with was tasty. Wish we ordered more of these because they disappeared quick! I only got to try the Salsiccia, but the toppings went well together. Although the jalapeños weren't spicy, it did pair well with the sausages. My friends enjoyed the margherita pizza given that the tomato sauce is really good. The pizzas were incredibly thin and had the perfect crust. Not sure if the pizzas were extremely cheesy or our pies weren't cut all the way through, but we did have to separate the slices with a cutter at home.

I was greeted by the smell of pizza being baked literally as you stroll around Hayes street! As someone who grew up in New York, I've been on the hunt for pizza that doesn't break the bank AND reminds me of home!Gioia is very very close to that! Being a pizza connoisseur aside, their pizza is relatively cheap per slice in the Bay Area (literally $4 for a speciality slice!). You won't be disappointed because each slice is bursting with flavor! There's something that makes New York pizza unique so I'll say that it does remind me of a decent slice, could be the crust being slightly burnt, the flour, the toppings, water, etc!My favorite has to be the Julian slice it comes with sausages, kale, garlic, tomato's and cheese!Top it off with their in house Parm and pepper shakers to your hearts content as if it were like Olive Garden!!Overall, the establishment is hole in the wall ish so don't expect a sit down experience! There is some seating near their bay windows and one standing table! So take your pizza out and eat it at the iconic Hayes park. The only thing barring me from my experiences here being top notch is their service. I would say I frequent the place more as of late but one of the girlies is kind of scarey to approach, just her though, everyone else is lovely :).

A small place but offer pizza with big flavors. They only got two seating area we got the one next to the window we got stared at by people every time we take a bite of their addictive pizza. They have friendly staff willing to share recommendations. They have a condiment section near the counter with a water fountain which is neat thing for customers. Lots of people getting orders to take home. A very busy pizza place in this cute neighborhood. Music surrounds the entire place. Tall ceilings, wall pictures and plenty of boxes of pizza on display. When you're in Berkeley SF area don't miss the opportunity to get this pizza .

Might just be my favorite pizza in San Francisco.Consistently an amazing slice, conveniently located on Hayes. I have been here several times but tonight's pepperoni pie was a religious experience. I was shocked I hadn't left a review here yet, so here I am telling you how delicious the pizza is.

Not many grab and go slices, so I like having one in the neighborhood close.$5 a slice I expect a nice size pie, but it was pretty dismal and a bit burnt. Wasn't anything special from a pizza standpoint but did taste good.I wish they had larger slices and some more toppings like garlic and some herbs to throw on top. Maybe I'm just spoiled from NY by the slice shops. I'll try again next time I'm back

We tried the Salsiccia, which features Sicilian sausage, pickled jalapenos, mozzarella, pecorino, and tomato sauce, and the Formaggio, with mozzarella, grana padano, and tomato sauce. Both pizzas were absolutely delicious!I've ordered from Gioia Pizzeria for delivery before, but this was my first time dining in. While the indoor seating is quite limited, there's a lovely park nearby where you can enjoy your pizza. Overall, a great spot for tasty pizza, whether you choose to dine in or take out.

Came here "late night" around 9:45 pm and we were able to grab some of the last few slices left. Tried the mushroom - red bell pepper pizza and they warmed it in the oven. It was pretty good! It was a perfect thin crust and flavorful. The service was fast and we were in and out within 5 minutes. There were others there grabbing take out but the location seemed like they had a handful of sit down options too! Would recommend and would try again!

Really great pizza in Hayes Valley. Despite not having much competition locally or in the city, Gioia is one of the most consistently good pizza spots in San Francisco. Perhaps only second to Outta Sight about a mile further east!
