In this location there are two Ghirardelli options. This one, on the second floor, and The Original Ghirardelli Chocolate & Ice Cream Shop ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-original-ghirardelli-chocolate-and-ice-cream-shop-san-francisco ) located on the ground floor.I did not go into the other, but this seems to have the most chocolate, as well other Ghirardelli options, i.e. cake mixes, and hot beverages and food (but maybe not ice cream, like the first floor location). If I have this wrong, don't worry, one is a very short walk from the other. So, observation number 1: The factory is not here, nor are there tours. Never have been, or so I was told, by the very friendly and helpful employee, who reminded me a bit of an Oompa Loompa (but that's another Chocolate Factory). Why did I think there was? My dad lived in SF in the early 80s, and I visited then. We did not buy any chocolate, but we did buy some cake mixes (flavors we have not seen elsewhere).Regarding the price of the chocolates, it seems a bit high, especially when you can buy the same squares for less at Marshalls (in Granbury, Texas). I know this, as we bought two bags there yesterday (12/10/24). Ghirardelli price $25, Marshalls' price was $12!So while it is quaint to buy HERE, it's no deal, and there's no factory (I know, I'm repeating myself). The factory is in San Leandro, California, about 22 miles away.

1978!I always tried to visit cities, where there was public transportation available!Very important, if you want to get around, & see as much as you can while you are there!Mami & I went for 9 days.I do remember that the weather was very pleasant! It was slightly chilly, & in some cases a bit windy! It's always a good idea to take clothing on any trip, that you can use as layers! If you need to remove this or that, it can be done easily.San Francisco, is very hilly! A good pair of sneakers, with good support should be used at all times! This is a city, where you can walk & enjoy all they have to offer! From the brightly painted , Victorian Houses , that they call: The Painted Ladies, to very modern architecture! The old, with the very new!Fisherman's Wharf & the visit to Ghirardelli's, stands as one of the best memories of this 9 day trip!We walked everywhere, we took buses on occasion, but our favorite form of transportation was:The Vintage Street Cars! They are open, & you can see the city clearly!Yes! It takes longer to get where you want to go, but what a unique experience!Since the weather was nice, there was no change of getting wet with the rain!Wonderful Memories!NYC.

Love love love the hot fudge sundae, but the ambiance has changed from quaint chocolate shop to a grungy fast food environment. Still, worth a visit.
