Leaving a review just because the owner has a kitty in the store walking around!! Super cute and chill cat. The owner was friendly and the market was conveniently located near me.

Came in to get a quick drink, and saw George's famous feline at the door to greet me! Love the hours here, and the goodies!

This place has everything a person could want at midnight on a slightly wild Wednesday. * Takis! Jiffy Pop! Every variety of Pepperidge Farm cookie! A highly international candy selection! * A genuinely impressive and wide-ranging variety of liquor for such a small place! (Seriously, you can get everything from Chartreuse to Midori here, it's inspiring.) * A well-mannered and snuggly bodega cat! * A kind and helpful proprietor!* A scale model of a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air! Okay, that last one wasn't so useful, but it was pretty nifty to see. This is a great store overall - clean, well-organized, and extremely well stocked.

I mainly go here to buy booze because it's right across the street from the bus (37 Line) that takes me straight home after (a): a full meal at Warakubune; (b): boozing at The Residence; (c): boozing at Blackbird; (d): connecting from the 22 Line to get home because the 33 was all messed up. That's four reasons to go there. Oh, I also have gone there for Half-N-Half, tequila, and beer, not necessarily at the same time.Sure, one of the clerks I used to see a few times a week for a few years accused me of shoplifting, but I don't blame him. He apparently noticed me reaching into my coat pocket, which seemed to trigger some sort of automatic response, but I get it. On that corner any store clerk is bound to have an itchy trigger finger. No bigs. On that note, every clerk there has always been super nice to me.They have a pretty nice tequila selection; a nice, cheap wine wall; and some fine chilled selections (white wine, champagne, prosecco, etc.), and their prices are acceptable, unlike that place a block away (Church Street Groceteria). I'm pretty sure I've bought more cheap wine (~$10) at this place than any other in the city.

The music that always blares out of this cool little liquor store makes waiting half an hour for the 37 bus almost fun.Excellent liquor selection, and amazingly friendly guys. Also, they have a non-bank ATM that you'll definitely end up using if you're hanging out at Amber or the Transfer.

I'm proud to call George's my local corner market. Although the candy selection is not superb the guys who work there are friendly and fun. The location is convenient and seem to able to condense every possible item you might need into that small store. My favorite thing about this place is the secret "baby bottles" of good tequila hiding behind the counter and the free limes they give me with a purchase of Mexican beer.Trivia: "George" does not actually exist.

My kids and I love coming to this store so much that my daughters "what's in my neighborhood" project she re-created Georges Market. Coming and being greeted right off the bat by the store cat name "dog" according to the store owner. My apologies if I got her name incorrect.
