Holy smokes! I have nothing against the store "per se." It's the neighborhood in which it resides. I was staying at the Marriott down the street and asked for a convenience store open on a Sunday at 11 o'clock at night. Somebody reluctantly suggested Fred's. I figured "what the heck."Walking from the Marriott to Fred's was a descent into hell. I could not believe all the homelessness and drug use I witnessed along the way. Nobodywas violent, as they were all out of their minds lying on the sidewalks. The management seemed to have a grasp on who they let in the store, and it seemed to be running a good business, providing food and such in the neighborhood which they have business.I've been in many combat zones in my life but never expected to see one on the streets of San Francisco.Next time visiting in San Francisco in the evening, I won't return to that area as it's an island of lost souls.

Sandwich was good but not great... I would definitely give it another chance though because I may not have selected the right options on Doordash. Feel like I need to eat there again before it gets its final grade.

I showed up early to happy hour and was tasked to find liquor. Since I didn't know the area at all, I decided to pull out my handy Yelp app. Found Fred's and stopped by on Saturday, December 16th around 4pm.I ended up getting a bottle of Jameson, two ginger ales, and two bottles of water for $35.83. Not bad overall as it was a 750ml of whiskey. I did see bottles of Macallan (I believe they had 18) and other whiskies I adore. Though price wise, I was trying to keep it real. The holidays were coming up and I had yet to go present shopping! The people manning the store were nice and super sweet. After naming my bottle, I was out of there in no time. I believe they don't take American Express as I used my Visa to pay. (I normally use my Amex unless I can't.) Good to note if you're planning on paying with a credit card. There were a few liquor stores on my way to this one, but they looked a little run down. Glad Yelp helped me find Fred's. Great liquor store in a not so great area.

Sixth street is one of the worst areas you can find yourself in San Francisco. I tell people that sixth street is the only location in SF where you can get a slice of pizza, booze, your crack rock, black market goods, porn, and your ass beat in one of the alleys. In all seriousness, it's a bad neighborhood and I can't imagine working in one of the local liquor stores.Regardless, the employees of Fred's are friendly and helpful. It's a typical mom-and-pop convenient store with soft drinks, beer, wine, hard booze, and snacks. They do have a small "deli" section but I have never dared to try it. The prices on beer and hard liquor are competitive and are legit in my opinion. If you need some drink before the party starts or for the after party and are in the area, Fred's got your back. They do accept debit but charge a $1.00 fee to cover the charge. Go get your drank!

My favorite place to get booze in the whole city. They have everything and know what they have. I like the recent touch that they have great cheese too. Makes them more than just a corner store.

Sorry Fred! Forgot to write a review. Awesome place! Opens right at 6am so you can grab your liquor. Or in this case champagne for morning champagne showers. AMAZING selection. I was VERY VERY surprised. Caught me off guard at the selection he had. The prices were fair as well. Didn't gouge me just because it was probably the only place that had what I wanted. Definitely my go-to spot for liquor whenever I am in town from now on! When you run out of dranks...who do you call?? FRED!!! Thank you Fred for your hospitality. By the way. Read some of the signs he has posted along the wall. Hilarious. Oh and side note. If you are looking for a place with an EXTENSIVE selection of whiskeys and bourbons......Look no further. Just ask Fred!
