This is a little mom and pop shop close to my apartment and I love shopping in here when I need a quick little snack or drink. They are sweet people and one of the few small shops left here in SF.

Besides there being a turret on the building there really isn't anything special about this corner store. But since it's the closest one to me, I find myself going there fairly often. They advertise as a deli as well but all there is in the deli case are frozen burritos and pre-packaged sandwiches. I really wonder if anyone buys any of that shit or if they just leave it there out of superstition.It doesn't really matter. They have Gatorade and Ben & Jerry's.

ice. gatorade. beer (tall cans, 40's, 12 packs, 30 packs, imports, domestics), an occasional bottle of cheap wine. regular ol' soda. non-baked, non-organic, non-veggie chips. jarred salsa. no, better yet, jarred queso.i come here solely for these necessities that whole foods turn their nose up at. okay fine. i come here when im too lazy to walk my ass another half a block more (an UPHILL block, mind you) to whole foods. and you know what? on saturday mornings when i'm on the verge of death-by-hangover, just knowing that ice cold gatorades are available right across the street is enough to convince me that i *can* drink like a champ again. tonight. the man behind the counter... man he is somethin'. this is what happens every single time i purchase something. and i do mean every single time:man: that'll be 5 thousand 4 hundred and 60 dollars!me (in mock surprise): OH! beer is so expensive today!man: OH HO HO HO HO! YES! prices expensive today!me: how 'bout just $5.46.man: okay, that's okay. DISCOUNT FOR YOU ONLY! (takes my $10 bill) OH! change is for me!me: hahahahaha... Not sure why this place is listed under "restaurants" but as a convenience store this place is a 5 out of 5! They have a great selection of sodas and other little items you might have run out of (like coffee creamer!!)

as the first review under the new ownership, I feel obligated to tell you they have been changing things in a positive way and the store appears to getting better. the dudes who run the place now are cool and it's nice to have them so close by for all late night needs. middle eastern men have a natural ability to turn these sort of places around, and their kind spirit is always nice to my high ass.
