I had a great experience at Flour + Water. The service was lovely and helped us decide what to order. It was packed inside on a Saturday evening and the ambiance was nicely dimly lit. The menu is small but substantial and there was a good amount of vegetarian options. The bread appetizer with honey and ricotta was amazing with the perfect balance of sweet and savory to start off the meal. The funghi pizza was good but kind of flimsy as it was overcrowded with toppings. The chili sauce was really good and added a nice kick to the pizza. I got the mushroom pasta as well but I'm not sure I would get it again and may try something else next time. The food is quite expensive so I probably would only come for special occasions.

Not bad at all. A touch too pretentious for me, but they know how to cook pasta! What's trickiest about F&W is that they change their menu every month so even if you find something you like, it will be gone the next month. That's nice from a creative perspective, but doesn't really give me a chance to find something I love and come back to order it again. What I do appreciate about them is that they do a great arancini, and cook the pastas to perfection. Nothing annoys me more than a pasta restaurant that over/undercooks their pasta. A lot of the pastas are just too creative for me though, and I'd prefer something closer to authentic/traditional Italian flavors. I understand they're being unique and this is Cal-Italian, but sometimes the flavors are just a bit too unusual for me and I don't think they go well together. Tough to recommend anything because the menu changes so much, but you'll probably enjoy whatever you order. Just get ready to pay ~30% tip given they throw in a 6.5% mandate and the lowest tipping option by default is 20%.

We had pizza and a beet salad, along with a glass of wine for dinner on a Sunday night. The food was excellent, you can watch the chefs work in the kitchen which is like watching a choreographed dance troop! I really enjoyed the beet salad, they use an Italian cheese vs ubiquitous goat cheese. We were told that the wait would be 30-45 minutes and they got us to a table in 20 minutes.

This is the final decision of my friend wedding dinner venue and it was so pretty!!! I am obsessed with the rustic and sensational style! We appreciate the team's efforts helping setting up the flowers and taking care of us. And the pasta, so flavorful and delicious, I also loved their roasted veggie salads, crudo, the grilled trout came with nice crispy fish skin on top of the tender juicy meat. Everyone enjoyed our food and service there.

Flour + Water has been offering delicious Italian fare for over a decade. I am glad to have sat down at the bar and intrigued to try the dishes Coleman, our bartender's recommendation. Both the Carne Cruda and Black Trumpet Campanelle were the most orgasmic explosion of flavors I've ever had at an Italian restaurant. For these very two dishes I am a committed fan. Very excited that Flour + Water sources their ingredients locally, and because so will release new menus frequently. I cannot wait to try out all their pastas made in house. Do yourself a favor, and book your reservation here. You will not be disappointed.

Their pizza is absolutely delicious, crispy on the outside, perfectly chewy inside, and favorably toppings. We opted for the self-service area, where we placed our order, grabbed our own cutlery, and found a seat at our own pace. This setup added to the laid-back, no-fuss atmosphere, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. I loved every bite and the relaxed vibe of the place. Without a doubt, this will be a must-visit spot for me the next time I'm in San Francisco!

The mini sourdough rolls were lightly crisped and generously buttered, accompanied by a stunning variety of green olives, along with paper-thin slices of prosciutto, ham, and salami. The selection of soft and hard cheeses was incredibly flavorful to kick things off. This was followed by wonderfully fresh sashimi drizzled in a mildly spiced oil that was simply delightful. The pizzas were fantastic, featuring pesto, beef pepperoni, cheese, and a few others that I missed. We dined in a private room with top-tier farm-style service. Our server was a whole experience in itself! The serveware, entrees, and wine glasses were tended to as if by magic. The highlight for me was the duck farfalle pasta, which was a chef's kiss. For dessert, we enjoyed a dark chocolate whipped cloud of perfection.

I had low expectations of this restaurant due to the lower rating on Yelp, but honestly I thought the food and service were really great. The restaurant had dim lighting and is a nice spot for a small group dinner or even date night. Our waitress walked us through the menu and knew so much detail about each item. The highlights of the meal were the appetizers. We loved the ricotta, the arancini and the amberjack crudo. If there's one thing you have to try, it's the ricotta - the bread and the honey it comes with are amazing and I could eat a whole plate by myself. We also loved the thin crust Margherita pizza and the Taleggio Scarpinocc.

Had a chance to do a walk in at this place after hearing about it many times. This spot is very popular for pasta, especially for their pasta tasting menu. We decided to go a la carte as we were given 85 minutes to sit. I will say the service was okay as we were mentioned multiple times that we were on a time constraint which was not nice. The ambiance here is definitely fancy and we saw a lot of families and friends visiting here. For food we ordered:* Today's ricotta - this was delicious and fresh and came with these fresh fluffy rounds of sour dough. This was really yummy - especially the honey that this came with also. We enjoyed this simple dish really well* Chicory Salad - this was a refreshing salad with yummy hazelnuts and pomegranate which was yummy. Lots of flavors and textures came together here and was delicious.* Chestnut Maltagliati - this dish was my least favorite pasta dish - had lots of flavors but something was missing here* Taleggio - this is their popular dish and very heavy on the parmesan flavor. I would say this is quite a simple dish but flavorful with a hint of balsamic* short rib caramelle - this was a favorite of the tables as the stuffing was really yummy with the sauce. If there's something we could get again this would be it* squid ink calamarata - this was good if you are more into a tomatoey pasta with a chili flavor. This also had lots of bite sized pieces of shrimp which was nice.* chocolate budino - for dessert we got this dish and it was yummy. The chocolate flavor was very rich and went really well with the crema topping* Olive oil cake - I liked that the cake had a crispy outside and a soft fluffy inside which was nice. The olive oil really made the cake very moist. Again the marscapone that came with it was absolutely delicious Overall the experience was nice and unique but not sure if I would go back given the dishes didn't WOW me! However, good to give this place a shot!

Took my wife here as a surprise date night. We did the pasta tasting menu and it was amazing. All the dishes were great, there were a few that i would not order off a menu, but were still good. The staff are friendly and very on top of their tables. It was a perfect date night away from regular life.
