I wish I had a picture of the Calabrian fried chicken sandwich and chopped salad but I don't have a picture because it was a crazy sf heat wave kind of day. The sandwich was perfectly, saucy, crunchy and flavorful and the bread was the perfect vessel and stayed crunchy to the last bite, but not chip your tooth crunchy. The salad was also delicious but maybe not as exciting and as flavorful as the sandwich. It could have one more thing? Is it missing tomatoes, some kind of crunchy crouton? Maybe one more pickled thing? Either way, I'd still order both again as they're high quality in ingredients and preparation. This was a dangerous discovery as it's close to my house and I will be going back very soon!

Freshly made pasta shop in the neighborhood. I love the seating area, it feels open and cozy. I like that you pay up front before seating so that you're not reliant on servers to receive a check and you can go at your own pace. Would stop by if I was on the area

My partner and I decided to go to Flour & Water Pasta Shop for lunch during Restaurant Week on a Monday at 12. There was no wait at the counter and plenty of seating both inside (Penny Roma's) and outside. During the hour that we were there, there were many to-go orders being picked up, but there was also a healthy amount of people dining in.The Restaurant Week special was just the lunch special that they always have, but for $5 cheaper. We got 2 with the Tagliatelle Alla Bolognese and the Rigatoni Cacio e Pepe, along with an order of the Penny Roma Focaccia which we've had at Penny Roma for dinner and became obsessed with.Food was tasty, but not mind-blowing. The arugula salad was a bit too heavily dressed for my liking, with the dressing feeling a little bit too acidic. The pastas both had good bite to them, but the sauces were a bit underwhelming. I found the bolognese to acidic as well. However the cookie and focaccia were great!Overall, it was a pleasant experience for an upscale fast-casual eatery with friendly and attentive staff, but slightly disappointed that the pasta at a "pasta shop" wasn't the star. Based on the fact that we've enjoyed their baked goods, next time I want to try their sandwiches!

Dropped in for SF RW for Friday lunch. The vibe is very casual; you order at the counter and bus your own tables etc. The Wild Arugula Salad was well dressed and was a good portion. The Agnolotti Dal Plin was very simple, meaty and had a nice bite to it. The Salted Chocolate Chip Cookie was hard as a rock, so I took it home to microwave. Nothing too special about it. The courtyard seating is absolutely stunning.Look forward to coming back to try their take home products!

I think the name is not fully matching what I expected they had 3 pasta dishes on a massive menu with sandwiches and other items. Now I get it, they do sell pasta to take and make at home but I had wished they would serve more of their dishes with it. The best part is that open up the penny Roma space to use while you eat and it's perfect on a sunny day. I do get the prices at Flour water and panned Roma when you are getting a full service but given that at this "shop" you order at the counter and bus your own tables, it's a little pricey for a mid week lunch.

Came here with a large group for lunch on a Thursday. I love the aesthetic of this place! Feels very calming and clean. There's a lot of space outside for you to sit. You order at the cashier and get a number for the table. Our food came out pretty quickly. Everything was smooth, except for one order that was one wrong salad, but they let us keep the wrong one and still brought out the correct one.I asked the cashier for her recommendation between pasta and salad, and she recommended the pasta. Since it was lunch, I was worried about knocking out with a food coma. I got the cacio e pepe; it is a bit too salty, however the texture of the pasta was delicious. It was al dente and held the sauce well. I could only eat half before taking the rest home. I definitely recommend getting a bubbly drink or something to contrast the richness of the dish.Overall it would've been a perfect experience if the salt was dialed down. I highly recommend this place as it was accommodating to our large group and had a lot of great options, and was generous for serving size. I could imagine it being crowded at night and on weekends. Lastly service was awesome!

Wow this place is a vibe with amazing food. A sister restaurant to the Flour + Water pizza spot of local notoriety. This place is what pasta perfection is all about. The noodles, the sauces and the presentation are what all pasta restaurant should try to attain. The working kitchen in the back is a testimony to the freshness of your meal and the pasta they make in house. Very well done and a must visit when we are back in the area.

In general, my husband and I LOVE all of the Flour & Water restaurants in San Francisco. Flour & Water original, Flour & Water Pizzeria, Penny Roma, and now this Pasta Shop. It's not just a Pasta Shop though - it sells way more than that, including these artisan, mouth-watering sandwiches, that are underrated or maybe just unknown. Came here for lunch one day with my family, and we all loved it. We ordered the Foccacia, Pasta salad, Salami (Italian combo with Mortadella, ham, toscano), and the Cali Club (turkey, bacon, pepperjack, avocado, aioli, pepperoncini, red onion). The ingredients for this sandwich are incredible - they are high quality, and it really makes a difference in the overall package. It tastes like a meal in a sandwich - if that makes sense. The bummer is that the sandwiches don't seem to change often (if that matters to you), but the nice thing is that the pasta salad DOES change based on ingredients. So it's fun to come back every now and then, and try a new pasta salad!! One day I had macaroni salad, the other time we had a bowtie artichoke salad. Both delicious! You order at the counter, and they have a small shop with communal seating - BUT they also let you eat next door at Penny Roma restaurant - their tables and chairs, bathroom, their utensils, plates, etc., which is so amazing. Really makes a difference!! It's such a comfortable environment, feels very casual. This is also a very kid friendly spot, with high chairs, and loud music, perfect for loud & rowdy children. I noticed that all the other tables had children too.

I come here often when I want some good pasta. You order at the counter, take a number, and find a seat. I usually love sitting in the back room, but during my last visit, it was closed for an event. Even though I had to sit in the front area, it was nice watching the chefs prepare pasta behind the counter. The menu only features three pasta dishes, which is a bit disappointing. I had the lunch special with the Cacio e Pepe, which came with a salad and a cookie. The food came pretty quickly. The salad had too much dressing and lacked variety. I got tired of it halfway.I quite liked the pasta, however. It was creamy, had a great texture, and was al dente. Those two dishes were quite filling so I had the cookie a bit later - it was decent. While this is not at the same level as Flour + Water down the road, the pasta shop offers good pasta at a reasonable price.
