The best tacos in San Francisco - hands down.I almost want to gatekeep this one, but it's too good not to share with the public.I usually go for the Taco Tuesday special (buy two, get one free), with carne asada and al pastor. It's always great to see a taqueria that prepares the al pastor on a trompo. To me, there are a few essentials that make a taqueria great: handmade tortillas, well-seasoned meat, spicy and flavorful salsas, as well as the atmosphere - a good playlist with a mix of banda, cumbia and all the Mexican classics, and excellent service from the staff. El Rey Taquiza knocks it out of the park on all these measures. To top it off, they have a good selection of drinks at the bar too. My go-to taqueria in San Francisco.

Stop number three on a self guided Mission taqueria crawl led to an amazing bite, the Suadero taco traditional. While we came here for the al pastor, it was the suadero that stole our hearts and taste buds. Since we still had a lot of eating ahead of us, we only went with the 2 tacos here (suadero and al pastor), both traditional and on homemade tortillas. The Suadero was the favorite bite of the day for my boyfriend and a top 3 contender for myself on our 6 stop (and 12 bite) tour. The meat and the homemade tortilla were both chef's kiss. The tacos were pretty small and only came as one tortilla each, versus the two I usually see, but it was a much more hearty tortilla than most, so I think two would've been too much. El Rey has a great atmosphere, it was bright and colorful, with lively music and lots of plants. I can see how this place turns into a party, especially with the drinks they were showcasing on the videos at the bar.

Great place and affordable! The food was great. My partner and I came here for a date night before watching a movie at the nearby New Mission Theatre. We ordered a couple beers, a few tacos and salsa and chips on the side. The food was good, service was fast and nice and overall had a great time. I would definitely recommend this place for a night out in SF.

Review is for drinks only!!Walked up on this restaurant by chance and my friend and I wanted to go in and have a drink.Inside is nicely decorated and clean. There is a small bar behind the cashierThey have a margarita machine with different flavors.I got a shot and a beer, friend had a Michelada. We both enjoyed our drinks. Atmosphere is chill and welcoming. Food looks good. There is a cooking station next to the cashier and you can see the workers making hand made tortillas and cooking your food. That is pretty cool.Street parking only.credit card and debit cards acceptedI would love to come back and try some of the food.

If you want a sit-down restaurant with sorts bar feel, but also a legit Mission burrito, this is the place. I stopped in with my five-year-old because this was the closest place to get a burrito. Our carne asada super burrito was nicely grilled (always fun!) and had just enough sauce. The chips were thick and made in-house. My daughter gave the horchata two thumbs up. While service was fast, my only constructive feedback is that it took a long time to get the bill even after we'd been given a box for the leftovers. Usually I love lingering but with a squirmy kid it's nice to be able to go when they're ready!

Tried this place the other weekday night. I decided to order online and pickup at the restaurant. Here's what my group ordered:- traditional margarita - Mango margarita - poc chic super burrito - el Rey simple burrito with carne asada - traditional tacos with carnitas - chips and guacamole When I got to the restaurant at my pickup time, the margaritas were ready but the food was not. I probably waited 10 minutes max for the food to be done. I had the mango margarita. It's $10 for a pretty generous amount. The alcohol is for sure there and you're likely to feel it. It seemed like there was some time of puree or something in the mango margarita that made the texture kind of off to me but I drank it all. The burritos were good and very filling. I had never had poc chuc before and I enjoyed it! The chips were super good! They had great texture, great flavor, and were not too greasy. I thought that the guacamole was pretty good but had more lime than what I'm accustomed to. My husband said the tacos were just ok.

I usually prefer a hole in a wall taco spot but this one is legit. I come here often enough to know I really like it and I want to support this small business. I love street style taco that aren't over priced. I think their prices are fair, less than $5 for a taco. It's a clean place and service has always been good. The food is also great. I've never had anything I didn't like.

I came here after my friends recommended it to me! There is a pretty large seating area so it's a nice place to hang out with a group of friends. You order your food first and get seated and they'll bring your food to you promptly or you can order to go. I ordered the al pastor burrito and it came super hot and fresh. It was a large burrito so it is super good value. The cheese was melted, the pork was tasty and the flavors of everything else blended nicely together. Some of my pork pieces had lots of fat and tendon but overall it was juicy and yummy. I liked that it also came with some chips on the side. I would definitely come here again and try their tacos or other burritos.

Came across this place while walking around in the Mission! It has a beautiful interior with lots of light, plants and cute art. The interior definitely gives it a much more upscale feeling than your typical taqueria. Would be a nice spot for a casual date! You order and pay at the counter on one side of the restaurant and seat yourself. This was a little confusing at first since I walked into the restaurant on the side without the counter but just go into the next room and then you'll see a counter with the menu above it. I got the al pastor burrito and it was pretty good! It had meat, refried beans, cheese, pico de gallo, and avocado. My friend got a few different tacos and loved the shrimp one. I want to try the tacos the next time I'm here. Also I love a salsa bar and they have a great salsa bar inside that had a lot of different options!
