-Food is tasty and affordable. Pollo catracha is a fav- fried chicken and plantains topped with some salad and pickled onions. Other dishes are also filling and delicious too! -Complimentary chips and salsa when you dine in-Homey feeling inside. Friendly staff-Parking can be challenging around there though

As soon as I walk in, I get that home comfy feeling like I walked into my own family's place. The food was delicious I was sad I only ordered one! I got the tipico desayuno con pollo, arroz, frijoles, platanos, crema and a cute looking piece of queso! I also got the hot chocolate- so frecking yummy! Oh and my eggs were over medium made to perfection, I almost feel like they poached it! My name is Jenny too and I feel like I was at the right place at the right time! Will definitely be coming here with mi esposo y hija!

My husband is Honduran and was craving traditional Honduran food. El Paisa Restaurante did not disappoint. Baleadas are homemade - exactly as they are made in Honduras. The meat from the Pescado Yojoa is so tender and just falls off the bone. The Pollo Catracho is flavorful and well balanced with the fried plantains.Location is in the Mission area. So finding parking is a bit difficult, paid street parking is your best bet!Staff is friendly and food come out quick. Will definitely visit again!

I was excited to come to this restaurant because finding a Honduran restaurant is like finding a needle in a haystack. I think SF only has about 3-4 and they don't have great ratings on yelp-- this places has the highest. Service was 4 out of 5. Here are my ratings on the dishes I ordered. Baleadas-- 5 out of 5Pastelitos- 4 out of 5Desayuno Tipico- 3 out of 5Pupusa- 2 out of 5Tajadas con pata de gallina- 3 out of 5

3.5 STARSThe first time I popped my Baleadas cherry, I was like..."WHOA, where have you been all my life?"Warm, thiccc...and ohhh sooo good. Same can be said, about a B.O.B...battery operated boyfriend but let's keep this PG.El Paisa is one of the three Honduran restaurants in SF and I believe the oldest one. They've been open even before yelp existed and have sitting on my bookmarks for over a decade. They don't seem to get much love on yelp (open for 15+ years and less than 80 reviews) but every time I pass by, they have a good number of customers inside. I had to run an errand down the block so I finally got a chance to stop by for takeout. They're also offering indoor dining. No outdoor dining. No delivery. If you're in a time crunch, call in your takeout order because it will take at least 20 minutes. All staff wore masks properly and there's a plexi-glass barrier at the register.F O O D* Baleadas Ceibañas: Flour tortilla w/ beans, crema, cheese, avocado ($4)Baleadas is like a Honduran soft taco. Out of the two baleadas, this was my fav one for its simplicity. The handmade flour tortilla was nice and thick but didn't have that satisfying chew compared to other baleadas I've had. Maybe it was an off day.* Baleadas Al Paisa: Flour tortilla w/ beans, eggs, chorizo, crema, cheese, avocado ($4.50)Unfortunately with both the chorizo and queso duro, it was too salty to enjoy.* Sopa de Pescado con coco: Coconut Fish Soup ($16)***Choice of catfish or tilapia. Served w/ a baby side of rice and corn tortillas.I originally bookmarked El Paisa specifically for this sopa.I enjoyed the savory, coconutty broth with flaky, moist catfish and tender yuca and carrots. However, for $16, I expected more than two thin pieces of catfish steaks. There was also 6-7 pieces of green bananas but someone forget to peel them. They were unripen and most weren't cooked through so they tasted like raw potatoes. I scoured the internet to see if unpeeled/raw bananas are a thing in Honduran sopa but couldn't find anything.S E R V I C EThe owner (?) was friendly and very appreciative of the support. My order was ready in 20 minutes. I noticed a pile of tickets on the counter so I think I had called in right before the rush. Overall, the food was a mixed bag...maybe I ordered the wrong things, or it was an off day. If I'm able to score rockstar parking, I would def give their balaedas a try again.

The best Honduran food in San Francisco, prices are reasonable and service it's mostly great most of the time. My daughter has severe food allergies and it's been safely eating here for years. We love the fact that no alcohol it's serve so it feels like a very family friendly place. The tv it's always at a great volumen level that allows you to chat but also listen to any game it's on, they mostly play sports channels.

It was my first time here . I ordered Lengua en salsa. It had a nice presentation . The portion was really small . The rice , salad and bean were good but the beef tongue was not good at all . I don't know if the meat was old or the way they cooked it was not proper . It was like a rubber . I will be back though . They had lots of customers. Maybe I picked the wrong dish . I would like to try something else.

I'm surprised by how good Honduran food is. I got breakfast to go twice and I really liked the combination of eggs cooked perfectly, silky beans and the fresh cheese. Very fresh and light and not as heavy as Mexican desayunos.
