Horrendous and disgusting place. This should not be open whatsoever. The owners are involved in NUMEROUS LAWSUITS related to wage theft of their workers and food inspections have reported back unstomachable findings.I came here during the Chinese New Year parade (with Awkwafina) and it was between Dick Lee's and Good Luck Dim Sum-- one of the worst choices of my life. A bunch of older folks were running this place and there were lots of red flags:- Asian Dim Sum places are notorious for overcharging-- so I added up each item that I ordered and calculated the price myself and Dick Lee's overcharged me by $7 dollars when my whole order was $50, that is a more than 10% up charge due to terrible business operations. - The old lady in the front kept picking containers and water bottles out of the trash, one trash can was conveniently placed right under the ordering counter.- The wait was an hour and 45. Now the food...There were weird splotches and dots all around the containers and I later read that they fish containers out of the trash so we ended up dumping all of it due to sheer disgust. The Har Gow was the size of quarters and it was not cute. DO NOT COME HERE. It should be CLOSED PERMANENTLY.

I usually don't write bad reviews, but the food really sucks. Owners are really nice, but you try your best to be polite while they smile at you lovingly as you eat what would be very tasteless food. Ambiance is your basic Vietnamese style outdoor eating by the gutter, which isn't bad but with people walking by and smoking their cigarettes, kind of makes the dining experience very interesting. Just go up the street and get something in a proper storefront instead.

Dick Lee Pastry is a hole-in-the-wall, no frills, dim sum place that boasts a huge menu with an overall feel reminiscent of Asia with its plastic ware, tiny tables, and street-side appeal. The food is 2-3* whilst the service, cost, decor, and late hours earn it a solid 3-4* (plus, you have to give major props to the older man and woman working the store at midnight).Signs everywhere state "all you can eat" for $5.99 but per reviews that's for breakfast and the price increases depending on the meal time. This was the only eatery open at midnight (reportedly the owner states no closing time) in Chinatown. Twas semi-bustling. The older gentleman speaks English whilst the older woman wanders over with food and answers to everything in Cantonese no matter what language you use. Her emphasis and desire for us to understand despite us not, was quite endearing. Food options (point at the photos if you don't know):- we went a la carte as it was late $30 for 4 dishes + 1 boba; with XiaoLongBao being the highest priced whilst the others ~$4. Note that dim sum always comes in threes except for XiaoLongBao. 1. XiaoLongBao. Aka steamed soup dumplings. Taste isn't the typical one you imagine but pleasant and the sauce just a tad sweet. Nonetheless hot, juicy, meat-filled. Would recommend more.2. Taro buns. The outside while fluffy, the inside taro filling tasted a bit off? 3. Har Gow aka shrimp dumplings. OK skin but shrimp taste was truly there 4. Shu Mai aka pork dumplings. Taste again was non-traditional but boy was it stuffed with juicy meat.5. Boba $3.99. The color was a bit coffee-like but taste aiight with just enough sweetness for me. The boba pearls on the other hand wasn't cooked through. Overall, worth a late night stop for some Asia throwback feels. Should I find myself hungering in Chinatown past 11p, go for the ShuMai and XiaoLongBao. Lots more to choose from.

While exploring Chinatown we found nice little hole-in-the-wall pastry shop. Got a quick service dessert - egg bites.

AVOID this place if you love your life. The all you can eat takes so long it's time to do your next adventure and the food is 2 if that. The noodles were frozen then microwaved. I love Chinese food and the dim sum, noodles, rice that came to us were a huge disappointment for SF Chinatown. The plates were dirty and the cleanliness of the testa were questionable. I don't mind hole in the wall places as they can have the best food. This sadly is not one of them.

It's a cute place. It's available until late. The service is good. They reuse plastic, however they wash and dry it beforehand. The pork buns are particularly good. Would come back and enjoy myself.

I wanted to like this place so bad. Me and my friend had done a small food crawl around chinatown last time we visited and we pleased generally but not amazed so we passed by this place and the owner an old man was super eccentric and jolly so how would we say no. the service i will say is top tier they are super kind to the guests and treat them truly like family which i think is sweet so i kind of feel bad to have to write this review, but we ordered some food and sat down as the nice kind old lady now came and brought us some tea and some assorted snacks in a tin which reminded me of my family. I was touched and was like wow this place is so cute and sweet aw. however while we waited for our food and my friend had gathered some utensils from the utensil box and i noticed they were wrapped in an interesting way but i didn't think much of it (interesting as in like it seemed like all different types of plastic utensils different being like forks with all different like styles so it seemed like plastic forks from different boxes). Our food came out quickly now and so we were ready to eat and ate we got some shrimp crystal dumplings, chicken feet, shui main, and a pork bun. the price was reasonable, but trust me when i say me and my friend are not picky people in the slightest and i really couldn't handle the food. i was like reading yelp(shoutout) reviews while eating just for fun because i was just wondering how the masses felt about such a kind place like the old guy and lady were sweethearts so i was expecting 5 stars and then i open it up to see some horrifying reviews in terms of cleanliness. It was almost cinematic how i read many reviews about how dirty everything was and how someone saw like the old lady pick containers and such out of the trash. i wasn't going to believe this initially because it was so bizarre but i like slowly looked down and started understanding.... all our food was in like different containers like not one was the same so it felt a bit weird but okay fine maybe some reason for this. I crashed out when i flipped over my fork and saw all the dust and dirt that was hiding in my white fork. I truly wanted to like this place so bad because i lowk wish these old kind people to just rest and enjoy their old age in peace, but genuinely i was traumatized it was like the food did not taste good at all and everything was so dirty and i couldn't take it. i quietly signaled my friend and we quietly and quickly made our departure and took the leftovers which we threw away 3 miles away from this place because we didn't have the heart to hurt or offend these kind old people.

** The following review reflects my takeout experience DURING the COVID-19 pandemic. **Dick Lee sounds more like a sporting goods store, doesn't it? A place to buy a basketball for the pickup game you don't have the guts to initiate, or the free weights you didn't know you'd use more than once for the home gym you tried to set up. But no, this is a dim sum spot in the thick of Chinatown, a place I found as I was wandering the neighborhood thinking some dumplings might make for a satisfying takeout meal. They set up a heavy-duty tarp that extended to the street and acted as a makeshift dining area (photo: https://bit.ly/3mfoBjd). I think it was Dick himself at the counter, and he led me to a combination of the ones he said were his best - Siu Mai, Steamed Pork & Veggie Dumplings, and my personal favorite, the Steamed Cake (photo: https://bit.ly/33lS3g7). Yep, they were good. Not Din Tai Fung-good but good for what I needed during a pandemic. Good job, Dick. Do you have volleyballs?FOOD - 4 stars...yep, them's were dumplings to devour AMBIANCE - 4 stars...kinda ramshackle but the effort's thereSERVICE - 4 stars...I don't know Dick...but he was friendly TOTAL - 4 stars...sporting goods not sold hereRELATED - Exploring Chinatown?
