Daeho is a classic in the Bay Area. I definitely recommend joining the waitlist on Yelp early & then checking in with the host when you arrive. We cam for an early dinner around 5pm and were seated right away. We got the classic Kalbi-Jjim with half cheese, I would add glass noodles and extra vegetables next time. The meat is tender and has a nice sweet sauce on it. We got level 2 and spicy was very tolerable. We finished the veggies but had meat and rice cake leftover.Definitely a food-coma food and wear clothes you don't mind smelling like meat after.

Came here with my friend to do the Back Rib, and it was hella good! It's pretty filling, probably enough for 3-4 people as we had to take to go. I'd recommend this as the daeho classic. It's a pretty bustling restaurant and packed, so you can imagine that the service matches with workers trying to catch up with everybody. ADVICE: There can be a wait, so I recommend getting on the waitlist in the yelp app when you're within the mile. Go do other things while you wait

Got the braised beef kalbijim with cheese on top. The meat was so tender and the sauce was super flavorful. The carrots and potatoes paired really well with the dish. I had so many perfect bites with some meat, vegetables and kimchi. The wait can be pretty long but the food came out pretty quickly since our server did a preorder right before getting seated! Great food, this dish will be appearing in my dreams

Daeho has been on my list forever and I finally tried it today. We got the large short rib and oxtail soup to share between three of us. The meats, potatoes, and the rice cakes have absorbed the soup and sauce well. The meats were juicy, and the yummy texture had a slight chew and was not tough at all - it's great. We also got the rice cake appetizer which had a great meat sauce with a kick and the beef tartar dish which came with sliced pears and was scrumptious. Along with the side dishes - every bite was delicious and full of flavor. The wait was a bit long, and they do kind of rush you so they can get more diners in, so it's not a place for long-long conversations.

I ordered the KBBQ at the San Mateo location (pretty okay 4/5 still there, probably compares to here)When I was at the SF location, I ordered the Beef Riip Soup with rice cakes inside of it. Wasn't a fan of the rice cake + I didn't like the bonchon served with the soup.If I had the time, I would like to try the Spicy Beef Rib Soup. If that soup is better, I would update the rating, but I'll leave it as a 3/5 for now.

Came here on a Monday around 6pm and didn't have to wait to be seated :) I've been to Daeho a few times now and pretty much always order their superstar dish haha.. The Braised Short Rib is a must try! My boyfriend and I got it with cheese on top/ torched and it's delish!! The beef rib is so tender and the flavor so umami. The flavor is both savory with a tinge of sweet and the dish has the perfect amount of sauce. The dish also contained rice cakes, jujube, potato, carrots etc and came with two rice (either white or purple) - two rice for regular size and three for large size. I like that we get to choose to spice level as well! We both had leftovers for the next day and it was so nice that they have us to-go containers where they provided a plastic seal on top. Oh can't forget the large variety of banchan we were served too! The restaurant is clean and there's a decent amount of space between tables. Servers were also attentive. Will def be stopping by periodically :)

Daeho Kalbijjim & Beef Soup is a hidden gem tucked in San Francisco's Japantown, where your taste buds will happily tango with tender beef and savory spice. The ambiance is cozy yet bustling, with tight spacing that feels more intimate than cramped. It's got that casual vibe where you can dive face-first into your kalbijjim without a care. A quick pro tip: park at Japan Center Garage--it's only $2-3/hour, and a short stroll to the restaurant helps build the appetite. We arrived around 3 PM, and the crowd was manageable; plus, the waitlist system keeps things simple. Now, the food! The kalbijjim with tendons is a textural masterpiece--tender, gelatinous, and oh-so-satisfying. Pair it with the perfectly chewy purple rice, and you're golden. The banchan is a delightful bonus; I couldn't get enough of the tangy radish and fresh chives. Quick bites or takeout? They've got you covered. If you're looking for a hearty, flavor-packed meal that warms your soul, Daeho is a solid win.
