This gem in the mission is a great place for good filling meal. The curry is great and I'm a fan of the original chicken katsu. The corn porridge is a must have! Service is great, the team there are very welcoming and endearing. Your time there doesn't feel like a restaurant. I like this location a little bit more than Burlingame since it's a slightly bigger.

Curry Hyuga - If you're looking for top-tier Japanese curry in LA, Curry Hyuga is the spot! This place serves some of the best katsu curry I've had--rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. We ordered: Chicken Katsu Curry - The pork cutlet was incredibly crispy on the outside, yet juicy and tender inside. The curry was thick, fragrant, and packed with deep umami flavors. The shredded cabbage and pickled radish on the side added a nice contrast. Veggie Katsu Curry - The vegetarian katsu was equally delicious, with a soft, flavorful filling that paired beautifully with the curry. The curry sauce here is the star--rich, slightly sweet, with just the right amount of spice. Portions are generous, and every bite is pure comfort food. The plating was neat, and the drizzle of tonkatsu sauce on top added an extra layer of flavor.Service was quick and friendly, and the cozy atmosphere made for a great dining experience. If you love Japanese curry, Curry Hyuga is a must-visit! Must-try: chicken katsu curry Perfect for: Comfort food lovers, quick casual diningWill definitely be back for another round of katsu curry!

Still such a great, casual, affordable spot.Tried the chicken katsu don, which I don't think was quite as good as the pork tonkatsu don. Also, for some reason, this time my dish unfortunately was more spicy (I suspect just more generous use of togarashi). But if you're craving chicken, try the teppanji - super tender, juicy chicken with a crispy exterior. Might be my new favorite dish here. Also got a side of the potato croquette, which I didn't love the texture (super creamy) + flavor of (might just be my personal taste).

Amazing curry! I usually get the signature katsu curry, but today I tried the beef hayashi om-rice. It was tasty and different - very flavorful. I think I still prefer the katsu curry but it was certainly worth trying!I love the pickles too! My partner asks for his rice to come with the egg when he orders the katsu curry. Might cost extra (I can't remember) but it's worth it!

I met up with some friends in South Bay over the weekend and got the chance to try this out. We got there about 12:15PM and had 10+ parties ahead of us. In total I think we waited about an hour. Their system is really nice though; you will get a text when it's close to your turn and that you should return to the store. I ended up getting a pork curry katsu and corn potage soup. The katsu comes with rice, cabbage, potato salad, and pickled radish. The pork katsu was a good size, nicely fried, and had a crispy exterior. The pork was not dry at all. The sauce was different from what I'm used to, in a good way, and was slightly acidic. I really liked the potato salad, as it was super creamy and well-balanced. The corn potage soup was delicious. Creamy while not being heavy, with really good corn flavor. Some croutons for texture and I just couldn't get enough of the soup! Staff was really nice and efficient. Dishes are brought out quickly and tables cleaned well too. Bathroom is clean. I enjoyed the food but may go for takeout next time to avoid the long lines.

The best curry spot in SF.Katsu curry (with udon) 5/5Katsu don 5/5Customer service 5/5You best believe there were no crumbs in our bowls after we demolished our dinner. It is sooooo delicious. Nothing is more comforting than a bowl of curry. This place is so adorable. When you first walk in, you are immediately greeted with the friendliest "Irasshaimase! (Welcome!)" and "Arigatō! (Thank you!)" when you leave. The waitress was so sweet, always refilling our water cups and asking how our meal was.Plenty of tables and parking is easy to find nearby.

Curry Hyuga is now one of our go-to's for Japanese Curry in the city as the food has always been solid every time we've been. For the past couple times we've been here we just did walk-in and we were able to get seating very easily with no wait. The interior is clean and modern, with ample tables for groups to sit in. I've gotten the Pork Katsu curry along with the Corn Potage soup, which both are great dishes! The katsu here is really crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, while the curry has a lot of flavor in it. They also have an interesting spice rack with various levels of spiciness so you can customize your own dish if you want it to have more of a kick. If you're looking for Japanese Curry in SF, this is another great spot to check out!

Best Japanese Curry restaurant in the bay area, especially for the price (amazingly cheap). 10/10 would recommend checking out if you are visiting the bay area. Here are some pictures of some food I ordered there. Portion size (especially for the price) is great.

Visited on a Saturday afternoon around 4:30pm with a friend, the restaurant had a few other guest but plenty of open seats., so no wait. Service is order at the counter and they bring out the dishes for you when they are ready. Food: Signature Katsu Curry - ordered with chicken katsu, really tasty, katsu was hot and fresh with a nice crispy breading without being oil, the curry had great depth of flavor and a nice spice level. This was served with rice, shaved cabbage, pickled ginger, and potato salad. Portion size was hearty and paired well with a sprinkle of the thai birds eye chili to add a little bit more heat. Katsu Curry Udon - tried one bite of my friends and enjoyed this as well, the pork katsu was also well prepared, curry was thin and soupy but with a nice viscosity to coat the noodles, Flavor of the curry was a little lighter but still very good. Personally preferred the signature but nice to see a little variety of offerings on the menu. Service was good, really quick and efficient. They brought out a carafe of water once we were seated which was great to help cut some of the heat. Overall enjoyed the hearty and warming katsu curry, worth a visit if you want a stick to your ribs meal on a cold evening in SF.

Curry Huga is absolutely flavorful and delicious! The Pork Katsu curry is amazing as the katsu is perfectly crispy on the outside while the meat is moist and airy on the inside. The curry sauce is also rich and pairs lovely with the katsu making it a perfectly balanced dish. One of the cool things at Curry Huga is that you can also customize the spice of the curry with their basket of spicy seasonings that allows you to choose the heat level of 1-6 to add the spice atop the curry. I personally loved the level 6 spice. Another great menu item is the creamy potato soup which is packed with velvety flavor and a great appetizer to start the meal. If you are a Japanese curry lover, Curry Huga is a must-try spot!
