Best take-away soup around. Changes daily. Great salads, sandwiches, and desserts as well. Wonderful BANG! for the buck.

So this place looks a little scary walking in for the first time because it's old and needs a face lift but there deli is GREAT. I usually get the turkey, cheese and avocado but I also get the egg salad sandwitch. They both are so good, they load so much meat and cheese most if the time I can only eat half because I get so full. I LOVE it!The only recommendation would be to fix up the place.

Imagine a 7-11.Now, make it cramped, keep it somewhat dirty, add 10 or 11 prepared food platters and a grumpy old lady who makes good sandwiches. She's not grumpy enough - make her grumpier.Voila! That's College Market.

I live in somewhat of a no-man's land when it comes to good marketing. Forget about fresh produce or organic dairy. That's all fine, I suppose, as la Whole Paycheck is a close hike away.Besides, I live just around the corner from College Market. This place is perfect for a little stuff you need around the house -- t.p., laundry detergent, box of cereal, bottle of (decent) wine, non-organic milk. And much to my surprise, Spam musubi's! For real's! Big, giant, thick-slices of Spam, perfect rice, nicely wrapped in a wide ribbon of seaweed.Okay, so some of you are, like, ewww, OMG, did she, like, say *Spam*? Yes. Get over it. They remind me of Hawaii... and they're tasty. In addition to this Hawaiian "delicacy", College Market has made-to-order deli sandwiches, a selection of side salads (macaroni, potato, veggie, tomato & mozzarella, etc.), soup of the day, chow mein, pot stickers, fried rice, and every soft drink and juice you could imagine. They even have freshly pre-packed salads if you're in an extra big hurry. It's the perfect place to grab a little lunch on the go.The downfall of this conveniently-located-near-me-market is the hours. They're not open nights, and I can't figure out their weekend schedule. Do they have a weekend schedule? Regardless, the staff are accommodating, the selection of household essentials is great, and the musubi's are a favorite of the BF (so great for little surprise snacks!). Minus 1-star for being closed evenings and (I assume) weekends.Oh, and Euge... I did NOT tell the guy that you are the King of Chabot. Whatever *that* is.

College market is a little mom-and-pop corner store that will have you wishing your mom made sandwiches this good. And when you're debating whether or not to get one of those little lemon home-made cakes near the register, grab one and shut up.

We were at Sacred Heart HS for a volleyball tournament this past weekend. I needed a quick lunch and found this on Yelp. What an awesome find! Tiny mom-and-pop shop that made sandwiches as ordered. Mom made the sandwiches while Pop tended the register. I had the egg salad on wheat. Perfect blend of mayonnaise and whatever else she used for. Salad was complimented with fresh, crispy lettuce and tomatoes. My husband had the pastrami on sourdough. Mom carefully heated up the pastrami with the cheese on top. Mom put the lettuce and tomatoes in between heaping piles of pastrami. Delicious!

First time I visited this place was back in 2001. The good old days of taking the bus after summer school at Sacred Heart. I remember picking up a sandwich from here back in the days was about $3.75 and I thought that was pretty expensive already as a high schooler. But they pile on the stuff high. I always got the roast beef or the turkey on dutch crunch, no cheese, everything else on it (red onions, lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, and pickles). They never skimp out on the meat and as the height of it if removed would be higher than the bed itself. I came back today, feeling a bit unsatisfied with my previous sandwich earlier, which was Dutch crunch-less from Ike's Place. Leaving this place, I felt so redeemed. The prices have inflated a bit, to $4.79 for a turkey without cheese, That's not too bad considering it's been 7 years. I think the place is still run by the same people. Felt like I was walking into the past stepping through the doors. It's still the same great sandwich, fresh ingredients, juicy turkey, and crunchy Dutch crunch. But my mouth is pretty much annihilated like McCain's campaign. Well worth it though.Sometimes, you don't need extravagant fillings and crazy names for it to be a great sandwich. The simplest things in life, are usually the best.

I used to come here years ago for their amazing turkey sandwiches. I was in the area today and ordered 5 turkey sandwiches for my family. I'm not sure if College Market is under new management but it was a new employee I haven't seen before. It took the man 25-30 minutes to make the sandwiches. I also observed him help a customer while wearing the same gloves, touch cash then go back to making the sandwiches with the same gloves. I literally lost my appetite in that moment. In the car, I realized he only gave me 4 sandwiches total. I was really disappointed in what this place has become. I miss the older couple, whom I believe were the owners, who were kind and wonderful.
