I was visiting the new Chinatown area on Clement St, and the colorful lanterns in this shop caught my attention. Clement Dung Market is mainly a dry goods shop with some frozen foods. Some items include: dry herbs, teas, tea bags, bulk dried foods, cooking sauces, seasonings, cookies, and dry ramen. Also frozen foods like: potstickers, bao, and frozen desserts.I didn't experience any problems with customer service. I'm 2nd Gen ABC, and I don't speak chinese. But the lady at the cash register spoke some english, and paying cash is usually a quick transaction. Nice store, worth a second visit when I'm in the area again.

I am updating my review from 4 stars to 1 after I stopped in today with my mom. The lady at the counter and the man who works here were completely disrespectful. My mom asked the lady a few questions while she was shopping and her responses were very rude. The man also made some rude comments to my mom when she asked him for assistance. We had a few things in our hands that we were going to buy, but my mom decided to leave because of the disrespectful lady. She even had the audacity to still be rude and yell at my mom when we put the groceries down and walked out. We used to shop here every time we come to Clement street, but after the way we were treated we will never be coming back again.

I love this place. Each time I am here I feel like I am at Yu Hwa/China emporium in HK. They have all dried goods that I need. Big selection of staples of Asian dried goods, soup mixes, Chinese teas, herbals stuff and cultural snacks, candies, dried seafood and just a clean, fun, well lit store. I am not fluent in Chinese but they speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin...could be more languages but they are nice and answer my questions often without attitude. Friendly to me each time I go.

If I can give it a negative star I would. Extremely nasty and unscrupulous people! They sell SPOILED FOOD and refused to exchange(not even return!) it, despite showing proof of purchase! When I tried to reason with the lady at the register she called me "greedy" for asking for an exchange! She said it's my own fault that I didn't check to see if the food was expired or not when I made the purchase. I WOULD BE DAMNED IF I GO THERE AGAIN!

People who worked there might not having good life. As rude all the time. Who wants to coming with people yelling at 4 years old? They are kids and didn't do anything wrong. Come on, you might don't love your own kids because they're mean, they're terrible, but stop yelling at others. SO NASTY!

I wish I can give NEGATIVE stars... Absolutely the worst costumer service I had. You cannot yell at your customer like that!!!!Incident 1: I am buying a bag of Ricola mints. I took a bag from the shelf and realized that it was expired (November, 2020). I went back to the shelf and exchange it for another bag. That woman yelled at me "You cannot put it back, you have to buy what you get...." I'm like.... "Excuse me, this bag has already been expired... I'm trying to get another bag." She insisted it was not expired, it was just the manufacturing date..." you think I'm stupid!! I ended up not buying.Incident 2: I went with my mom because she wanted to buy some dry ingredients for making soup. She took a bag of ingredient from a pile and asked that woman how much it cost. That woman yelled at my mom "You blind? You cannot read the price?" That woman pointed at the price tag between the two piles of different ingredients. I said" excuse me, we just wanted to make sure if this price is for this pile of ingredients or the next pile..." The woman further mentioned "Read the price tag in the bag" Well, it turned out that there weren't any price tag on our bag. We left without buying! Both incidents happened during COVID. We are trying to help you out. If you don't know how to treat your customer, you don't deserved my money to be spent in your store. FYI- Make sure to check the expiration date before buying anything in this store....

That does it. I've had it with the rude, condescending and unprofessional treatment that I (as a customer) have received TWICE at Clement Dung Market. They're a sort of Chinese herb/dry goods store, and I like a bit of dried Mandarin peel in my morning tea. But the service in that store is unbearable, and as of today, they have seen the LAST of my money.First incident: I was shopping for some ingredients for a recipe, and their baskets of bulk seeds, beans, flakes, rice etc. were all labelled in Chinese, a language that I cannot read. So I attempted to use my phone's Google Translate app, and the woman that works there objected to this and yelled at me. I tried to explain that I needed a translation, and asked her what the item was and she ignored me and didn't (bother to) answer. Yeah, right... as if I was going to buy ingredients, not knowing what they were. Nope. Second incident (today): Buying dried Mandarin peel is pretty much self-service. You get a bag, open the large glass jars and fill the bag with the amount you need and they weigh it and charge you by weight. Should be no problem. So I opened the jar, and used the tongs to take out what I needed. The woman that works there barked at me in Chinese (I can't understand Chinese at all). I told her I didn't understand her and she pulled out a scoop and scooped the Mandarin peel into my bag while yelling at me. The nerve of me using TONGS instead of a SCOOP! As if I was damaging the merchandise? After that, I've decided that I'm not going back. If anyone has a recommendation for any other stores that sell dried Mandarin peel in the Richmond or the Sunset, I'm up for that.
