Chave Tacos

I live a couple blocks away and I now that I've finally tried Chave, I can't believe how many times I walked by and mentally dismissed the place since it always looks empty. I now realize it's a major local hangout spot when there's a soccer game going on, but also their tacos are great! They have excellent soft corn tortillas. We asked for "mild" but they were still quite spicy (not overwhelmingly so). * Carne Asada ($3) - 3 starsGood flavor, but quite a bit of fat I had to pick off. * Cochinita Pibil ($3) - 4.5 starsGreat flavor, tender meat! * Pastor ($3) - 4 starsGreat flavor & crisp. * Sope w/ carnitas ($4) - 2 starsThe bottom of the sope was too hard, making it difficult to cut. Meat was too chewy, full of fat. & Quesadilla w/ carnitas ($12) - 3.5 starsTortillas were soft, filling tasty, except carnitas was too fatty & chewy.

Salsa was very good. I had 2 carne asada and 1 shrimp taco. Everything taste fresh & authentic , not greasy or anything.Customer svc was also amazing, def will be coming back! ThNk u

TACO TUESDAY!!!$2 tacos that are usually $3 for most and $4 for fish. Wish I would've gotten a few more. I guess I know where I'm getting dinner on Tuesdays from now on.

This place is the closest to Mexico City tacos that I have found in San Francisco. Authentic tacos are available here like cecina, suadero and cochinita pibil. On the weekend, they have aguachile.The fold-out table, hand-written menu, and location in someone's driveway betray the authenticity of this Excelsior gem.Another way to tell: only Hispanic day laborers are eating here.If you want a real Mexican experience, come here.

Supreme!!!!Delicious tacos de Camarones and taco Al Pastor...A small little cart with a great cook that love what he does....A great experience....

These tacos are perfect! Just the right size, not greasy at all, great prices, and the flavor is out of this world. I got the cecina, cochinita, and pastor, only to return a few hours later (I live a few blocks away) to try the carne asasda and pollo de tinga. To top it all off, tacos are only $2 on Tuesday until 7. Can't wait to go back!
