This was a recommendation from a store owner, we asked for someplace he goes. We were taken aback by the restaurant itself, but we reserved judgement because our midwest roots have some great food in some really dive bars. In this case, you CAN judge the book by its cover. Beyond filthy. And the food... oof. The meat was not spicy, and really fatty. Everything was coated in grease. The beans were runny, the rice had no flavor. Just a complete mess. I asked why my beans had no cheese, like the picture. I was told you have to ask for it. When I asked for some, he told me that I would be charged for the cup it came in since I asked for it after my meal was prepared. Staff seemed non chalant about cleaning, or doing anything besides scrolling on their phones. There are so many better places. Do yourself a favor, don't try this one.

I always feel bad giving a poor review to what seems like a well-loved local restaurant, but I honestly did not have the best experience here. I stopped by for lunch for the first time a couple weeks while I was in the area and tried their birria taco and puffy taco. Even though the restaurant was relatively empty and our order was small, the food took almost an hour to come out (not exaggerating). No explanation, no apology. We almost had to go up to the register and cancel our order because the delay was making us run late to an afternoon obligation. Interestingly, we also noticed that the people who ordered after us got their food in a reasonable timeframe, so not sure what happened. Regardless, it really put a damper on the entire experience. The food itself was fine - the birria taco was underwhelming to be honest (and incredibly oily). The puffy taco - I can see the appeal and it was good, but very salty and oily. The service was also mediocre. Our table had a bunch of used newspapers and trash and nobody bothered to come clear our table. Overall, a hard pass.

If you're craving some amazing birria soup or Quesabirria, look no further--this place has got you covered. Their flavors are incredibly authentic, with a perfect balance of spices that create an unforgettable dish. Run by a small family, they really know their stuff when it comes to cuisine. And if the food takes a bit longer, rest assured it's because they're cooking up something delicious. The staff is super friendly and efficient, and while it's a cozy spot, the layout is well-organized and inviting.

On my vacation in San Francisco I want to try some good Mexican food. I decided to come here because the reviews of the Puffy Taco looked good! It was a little bit hard to find the restaurant. And of course parking is always hard. We waited a little bit longer than usual but it was worth it! The food was really good! The chips were really crunchy, They did need more salt. The guacamole was tasty. The Puffy Taco was awesome! Super big and crunchy! I loved it so much! It was one of my favorite foods I had in San Francisco. I got it with chicken which was really great, next time I would try carne asada. We also love the Birria taco.

This quaint spot is conviently located next to the 24th and Mission Street Bart station. Even though there are several Mexican food places here, this place has some things you have to try. I truly ordered with my eyes other then my stomach at this restaurant when I ordered for take out. I ordered the Flautas, Puffy Taco, and Quesabirria. The Chicken Flautas were crispy and delicious. Served with lettuce and cheese. Not bad by itself, but better with their red and green salsa! The Quesabirria was flavorful and crisp. But if you order a single, it doesn't come with the Consome. The star of my order was the Puffy Taco. I ordered the Carne Puffy Taco and it was just how it looks. Delicious! Crisp with a chew on the thicker parts. The lettuce, tomato, and sour cream where fresh, with well seasoned beef. There are so much more stuff they have that I want to come back and try!Hopefully your Yelp adventures lead you to this restaurant! Stay hungry adventurous and happy Yelping!

Stopped by here on a whim when nearby Reem's was closed for a private event, and definitely did not regret it! While the neighborhood is a little worse for the wear, I loved my meal enough to know for sure that I will be back to try more items on the menu. This time I got to try:Guanabana Agua Fresca - I LOVE soursop. If you also do (or actually if you've never heard of it), get this. Don't ask questions.Puffy Taco - After reading a few reviews, turns out this is one of their signatures so I obviously had to try it! I got it with Carne Asada and this was one of the largest single tacos I've ever seen. The "taco" is perfectly fried and not a bit greasy, and gave some really good balance to the fresh tasting toppingsSingle Quesabirria - This was also delicious. I read that you can ask for a side of consomme but I decided to skip, but the quesabirria had plenty of delicious flavor on its own.Machete - ok I did not try this but someone else got it while I was here and let's just say I'm trying this next time for sure. If you're a big eater, this is for you. A half-machete is the size of two faces. I don't know that I've been to any other Mexican spot with such delicious food at incredible value, so I definitely will be back.

Two stars may seem harsh (especially to my bf who would give a slightly higher rating), but Casa de la Condesa is the kind of restaurant I'd rather not rate at all (you know, 'cuz of the adage if you have nothing nice to say, air your grievances on Yelp or something along those lines.) We ordered from them a second time because we couldn't remember if we enjoyed our food the first time around -- yup, that unmemorable, and the second experience confirmed we should've stopped at one. I appreciate that you can choose red or green sauce for their chilaquiles. I chose red, as I always do, & it was so unbearably spicy, I couldn't enjoy more than 3-4 bites. Even if the heat level were tolerable, I wouldn't have wanted to continue ingesting soggy chips, so it's just as well.Per my bf's notes, he liked the crunchy items: the puffy taco with carne asada and the fried quesadilla with chorizo, but didn't like the non-crunchy items: al pastor mulita and quesobirria tacos. We both agreed that of the many quesobirrias we've eaten, the one of Casa de la Condesa has been the worst, both in taste & texture. Not going to spend the money to see if the third time will be the charm. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, my bf gets told if he ever wants to order from here again, he can go fill-in-the-blank himself.

Prepare to have orange fingers and beef smelling fingers. It's my first time trying Birria tacos. I like it. It comes with a spicy green chili sauce on the side, some limes and sliced radish and if you order 3 Birria tacos, it includes the beef consume for dunking. It's a very messy meal. Careful not to get stains on your clothes or furniture.
