So I heard about this place from my husband and a couple foodies who reminisce on Japan's most coveted egg Sandi from family mart. A staple addiction I miss so much! I ordered a latte and 2 egg sandos. The latte was 5/5Egg Sando 5/5Although it does not compare to Japans egg sando this one has its own unique flare which is why I highly recommend trying it for yourself. You must eat it fresh as I don't think it hits right if you wait longer than 30min. The bread is soft and the egg melts into your mouth. I think due to Ca egg shortage - pricing is $$. I won't dock points for that but it was a bit $$.Worth it! Yes! Craving family mart egg sando - well this is the closest you'll get till your next trip! In the mood to try something new/ then I highly recommend.Okay enough about egg sando! They have so many other options I have yet to try and will be coming back to make an update on the rest of their menu!

Cute spot on Townsend, a brief walk from South Park or the ball park. The chicken katsu sandwich is delicious, and surprisingly light for this type of sandwich. There's a small outdoor uncovered parklet with 3 tables to enjoy on a nice day, and plenty of space indoors! Excited to try the other plates and dishes as well. Even coming at the tail end of the lunch rush, food came out surprisingly quickly!

Mine and my friends go-to whenever we visit SF. We quite literally always crave the sandos from here and try our absolute best to add this to our day itinerary.Their curry plates are flavorful, the milk bread in the sandos are EXTREMELY fresh, meat is amazing quality, and on top of that their drinks are yummy as well! You order at the counter and food will get dropped off to you when ready. Seating is limited so if you're lucky you'll find a seat inside or outside (there's outside seating) or you can take it to-go. The parking situation is iffy (as it always is in SF), so be patient and you'll find a spot nearby. Please do not pass up on his gem, it seriously changed my standards on Japanese katsu sandos for the better. (I have no photos or videos at this place because the food is that good lol)

Everything about this place perfectly hit the spot after a day of visiting the Academy of Sciences - it's conveniently located by the Caltrain station and the food was everything I needed! We ordered a Misu soup to warm us up followed by a chicken katsu sando - perfection! And a spicy tuna don - so refreshing and balanced! Everything tasted so fresh, all the ingredients complemented each other well and the quantity was perfect. Food service came out fast and the place overall was no fuss yet comfortable. Only suggestion I'd have is to add a bit more of the cucumber/radish slices for the bowl to be proportional to the amount of rice and spicy tuna.

Great spot for some quick, simple, and healthy but good Japanese comfort food. Ordered a beef gyudon to go for lunch and my order came out super quick within 10 mins before I even was able to get there to pickup. Food tasted great though it is on the pricier side but that is the case with a lot of downtown restaurants now. Meat was super tender and flavorful. Great protein option if you want something healthy. Would definitely come back to try the other options as well!

So good! The bread was so soft and milky, the chicken was so light, tender, and crispy. The pickles and veggies balanced everything out. The fruit sando was really good too. The fruits were also perfectly ripe! It wasn't too sweet either, where the cream overpowers the sandwich. I definitely recommend you check it out!! Next time, I want to try their curry as well:)They have some seating indoor and outdoor!

Cute, sweet little Japanese brunch place in the city! A little overpriced, but quality food!-Egg Salad Sando (5/5) - egg salad has a special place in my heart and I loved this one! Their sandwich was a little small but filled with egg, and even had a full hard boiled egg front and center. The milk bread was so soft and yummy. A little pricey at $11 for the sandwhich, but I would get it again. -Chicken Katsu Plate (5/5) - also delicious! We got a large piece of sliced katsu with the plate, and it came with a soft egg to break over the rice. -Strawberry Matcha Latte (4/5), really yummy, not too sweet, and a good mix of the strawberry and matcha tastes. There is indoor and outdoor seating, you order at the counter and get a number. Food was out in 5-10 min - super quick!

Cafe Okawari is a solid spot--definitely a solid 4 stars in my book. The food is good, and I honestly have no major complaints. The chicken katsu sando? It's fine, but a little on the bland side for my taste. On the flip side, the chicken katsu curry is where it shines--delicious, hearty, and generous portions that leave you feeling satisfied. It's the kind of place that's great if you're already in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to make a special trip. Still, if you're craving a comforting Japanese meal, it's worth checking out!

This review is just for the egg salad sando togo.My friends and I were attending a concert nearby and needed to grab something quick to devour real quick before the concert. We ordered online for pick-up. Placed the order and picked up our food within 20 minutes. Came in real quick just to pick up the order, but staff was friendly. The egg salad sando was yummy! Bread and eggs were both soft and fluffy. Definitely fulfilled my cravings!I'd love to try the chicken katsu sando next time if I am in the area.

Always my go-to place whenever I have a craving for some legit chicken katsu sandwiches on milk bread, it reminds me a lot of what I grew up having in Taiwan and sandos I've had in Japan. The chicken never disappoints with how crispy it is on the outside and moist and tender meat under the light, crispy breading. The sauce isn't over or under done, it's just right, and the shredded lettuce compliments the texture of the milk bread and chicken just right.I'm also always a huge fan of their fruit sandos with fresh cream as a light sweet treat. The fruits rotate out based on season but I haven't had any that I don't like so far. The fruits are clearly not from cans and are freshly cut.Lastly, if I'm on the go and not hungry, I'll always stop in for a hojicha latte (iced or hot) to take with me on days I'm opting out of coffee and need that afternoon pick-me-up.
