Andrew M. "One of San Francisco's true hidden gems. I think people often over use that term but in the case of La Fusion it's really appropriate - I've been coming here for over ten years and despite the food always being amazing it's never too difficult to get a seat at this place on any given night. It won't seem like much on entry. It's cozy and unassuming - a large bar dominates the space despite them mostly serving wine and sangria. The interior really doesn't really set you up for what you're about to experience. The food itself is an absolutely knock out. I don't think I've ever had anything at this place that I didn't love. The ceviche will be your first good sign: all of them are fresh and packed with flavor, particularly the seared tuna. The lomo saltado with its beef and fries is just a perfect comfort food combination. All of the soups they rotate through are some of the best I've ever had (particularly the mushroom-based one). But as I'm sure everyone else has pointed out, the real star of the show is the rotisserie chicken with the bread salad; obviously the chicken is juicy and falavorful but the rather unassuming sounding "bread salad" sits below the chicken soaking up all the juices and oh-my-god is it amazing. That chicken is easily one of the best meals you can have in San Francisco.Service is really nice and attentive, and the owner/chef clearly is usually working with a big smiling beam on his face suggesting that he knows he's bringing joy to everyone who visits his restaurant. This place is a MUST VISIT."

Julie L. "Really enjoyed this place! Came here in the late afternoon when they had happy hour. Ordered garlic fries, empanadas, chicharrón, and lomo saltado noodles. All of it was good. The one thing I'd recommend is eat your garlic fries quickly as they get cold quickly and these ones aren't as great when they are cold. In terms of service, 5 stars for sure! They were so nice because we were there a while they dropped us off a flan at our table even though it had been a while since we'd paid our check. Overall, it's a great restaurant. I'd totally come back. There is a really great mural in the restaurant and lots of televisions if you're looking to watch the game. I wish the plantains were in a separate container otherwise they get soggy and don't stay as sweet. However it all was yummy! INSIDE is shared with a plant based restaurant. Walk in and order from the counter on the left. They have indoor and some outdoor seating in the back with free WiFi internet. I saw people with their laptops working and eating. They were playing good Latin salsa music. I would come back here."

Lisa Z. "I first knew about Mochica was years ago when I lived in San Francisco. Back then, it was located in SOMA, but after closing, it reopened in Potrero Hill--a quieter neighborhood I rarely visit. I'm glad I finally made it here. Mochica is one of several restaurants owned by Chef Altamira, whose other spots, like Paradita in Walnut Creek and Emeryville, and La Costanera on the coast, I've enjoyed. He also has a new one in his namesake Altamira' restaurant and bar. This was my first visit to the "new" Mochica, which has actually been around at this location for about 10 years now. The interior feels modern, updated, and culturally relevant. I appreciated their convenient hours: on weekends (Friday to Sunday), they're open continuously from noon through dinner, offering both brunch and the regular dinner menu. On weekdays, they serve lunch and dinner. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, with relative easy street parking, and the view of the downtown skyline is spectacular. The food was excellent, with generous portions. For appetizers, we tried the "ceviche pescado" and the "plátano maduro frito" in reduced tamarind sauce, which was delightful. The "bolitas de yuca" were decent but a touch too salty and mushy for my taste. For mains, the "1/2 Pollo La Brasa"was beautifully marinated, with tender meat and a refreshing side salad. The "arroz con marisco" was packed with flavor. The standout for me was the Peruvian classic, "lomo saltado"--it looked right, was prepared perfectly, and tasted authentic. The drinks were equally impressive. The "pisco sour trio"--featuring the classic lime, chicha morada, and passion fruit versions--was aesthetically appealing and well-balanced, with a pleasing mix of tartness, sweetness, and a hint of bitterness. Service was exceptional--friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and professional. The dining area had a great layout, with well-spaced tables creating a cozy yet lively ambiance. Mochica is a true neighborhood gem, serving honest, authentic, and upscale Peruvian cuisine. While it doesn't generate the same buzz as La Mar, it's exactly the kind of place that keeps diners coming back for more."

While we were deciding what to order, we were brought bread, butter, hominy, and their green chili sauce - such a great way to whet the appetite. I was excited that they also had diet Inca cola, which many places do not carry. We ordered the Milanesa con Pollo and the Pescado a lo macho to share. Decent sized portions. Love the milanesa - crispy and flavorful. As for the Pesacdo a lo macho, the snapper was a bit on the small side which was hard to tell as it was covered with all the other seafood. The sauce was good, especially with the rice. We were definitely full when we were done."

Upon entering, I almost mistook them for a club as there was a full bar set up and a dj playing music. We came on a Friday night and they were also doing karoake. In my opinion, the music was simply way too loud. It was basically impossible to have a conversation without full-on yelling. Even from outside, you could hear the music blasting clearly. That was probably my one issue. For food, I ordered the Perihuela, which was a tomato based soup with fish and other seafood. Same with our friends in their car who met us for dinner. When we arrived, there was only one other table occupied, and our table had a Reserved sign on it. One downside, we were very near the door, and we never really warmed up all evening. Next time, we'll request a table away from the door! Those were the negatives. Everything else was wonderful! We were warmly greeted and shown to our table. Lighting was low, and felt very comfortable. For the four of us, we ordered:* Plantain Chips (I think they were complimentary, along with a spicy dipping sauce) -- excellent, crispy, a great way to keep us occupied while ordering* Calamari Frito -- excellent! Crispy, and two great dipping sauces.* Tostada de Quinoa -- not sure if this is what we ordered, but it was very good. We split it into quarters. For the main course, there were two orders of the amazing Salmon Risotto (one for me, one for our friend). This was a thick piece of salmon, perfectly grilled and still hot, sitting on a cylinder of crispy risotto. The risotto was also perfect, just enough crispiness on the outside, and cheesy warmth on the inside. Inbetween, a layer of sauteed spinach, and a great salsa. One of the best salmon dishes I've ever had.My wife ordered the Pescado Sudan, halibut poached in Peruvian Salsa Tigre, and served over spinach and yuca frita. I got to taste some at dinner, and more the next night as leftovers. Excellent flavors, just enough spice. The final dish was the Costillos De Cordero, Australian lamb chops. Presentation was beautiful (see photo) and she was very excited by this dish. For dessert we ordered the Picarones, three warm Peruvian donuts with a cinnamon syrup. We were expecting the donuts to be small, but they were huge. The plate was steaming, and the best part was cutting a piece and dipping it into the sauce on the plate. The texture was a little chewy, but delicious. And we had to have chocolate, so we ordered the flourless chocolate cake.
