Christina P. "My favorite coffee spot in all of San Francisco. The coffee is delicious, with drinks like El Saladito (organic maple syrup with a touch of pink salt), La Canela (organic raw honey and cinnamon) and Manguito (a mango latte). I have tried them all and they're all fantastic. I don't know how they source their coffee, but it is delicious and unique and is the best I've tasted in the city. In addition to having the best coffee in SF, they have a great location (right above Embarcadero BART) and very friendly and kind baristas. I go out of my way to come here before work because their coffee and service put Peet's and Starbucks to shame. They also have a really nice atmosphere and friendly patrons if you want to sit here and get some work done. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!"

Sophia H. "The original bird (iced espresso with brown sugar syrup, soda water, and whipped cream) was wow, amazing! The whipped cream was incredibly thick, sweet (with a tad saltiness), and creamy; it tasted very fresh. That, mixed with refreshing soda water, was a delightful and exciting combo on a warm lazy morning. Latte (hot, with oat milk) was delicious too. It tasted a bit lighter than the other lattes I've had but also seemed to go down smoother. The texture was *incredibly* smooth with a thick creamy foamy top. The other thing I noticed immediately about this drink was the lack of any "burnt" espresso taste. I actually generally like the slightly burnt (dark roasty) taste, but I did enjoy how this latte had no trace of a "burnt" taste and yet was still roasted dark and deep enough for my taste."

Matt Y. "This is a coffee shop for coffee people and my go-to spot for a caffeine fix. They have a robust (but not extravagant) menu of classic and niche coffee and espresso drinks. They'll do a dirty chai if you ask them (but probably not a PSL - they seem above such frivolity). Probably my favorite thing on the menu is the Spaniard, a latte of sorts made with condensed milk. I would advise trying everything else on the menu first because once you have a Spaniard, you won't want anything else. Also, they use frozen coffee in their cold brew, which I so very much appreciate.Snowbird is primarily a place for good coffee, not for gathering, and the only seating is a bench on the sidewalk outside. However, they have some limited food offerings from local vendors (e.g., Filipino pastries and, more recently, a pop-up sandwich service on weekends). But this is just icing on the proverbial cake. This place is about coffee and they do it really well."

Cherylynn N. "4.5 STARSMatcha lovers know the struggle of finding a solid matcha latte in the city and beyond. Most neighborhood cafes I've been to serve matcha lattes that taste like milk with a splash of matcha made from pre-made concentrate. So, I will go out of my way and brave the anxiety inducing layout and parking situation on Valenica for Sextant. And, risk parking at a loading zone. Shhhh, don't tell DPT. Sextant makes a really solid matcha latte w/ oat milk ($8.75): https://tinyurl.com/4mf5xx7h Ceremonial grade, hand-whisked to order, the matcha latte is robust with a strong earthy vegetal bitterness that's balanced by the creaminess of the oat milk (Califia). So, why not 5 stars? The ONLY sweetener they have is sugar in the raw that doesn't melt in iced drinks. If customers are paying nearly $11 for a matcha latte (post tip), please offer simple syrup or soluble sugar substitute for iced drinks. TIA!O T H E R I N F O* Sextant specializes in Ethiopian coffee and roasts their own beans at their original SoMa location on Folsom. * This is their second location in the city that has a minimalist hipster vibe with limited seating, a mix of high tops and low top tables. Two benches outside. * Online ordering is not live yet. * Bottled drinks available. No pastries available yet.* Quiet with no music playing so you can get work done. * Free WiFi.* One restroom available.* Street parking can be a nightmare but more doable weekday mornings. Haroon S. "Listen, any café that can make me forget I'm paying Financial District prices (almost) deserves recognition. Postscript, tucked away in Jackson Square where power suits meet creative professionals, is a story of hits and minor misses - kind of like a barista's first attempt at latte art.The hits? Their pastry game is strong enough to make a French baker nod in approval (my wife swears by their peanut butter and jelly cookies - and she's not wrong), and their smoothies could convince a juice skeptic to convert. The matcha hits that perfect sweet spot between earthy and smooth, and their bone broth might just be the FiDi's best kept secret for battling those fog-chilled mornings. The space itself is a winner - offering plenty of seating for both laptop warriors and client coffee dates, plus an open refrigerated section stocked with enough grab-and-go options to make your decision-making skills malfunction. Perfect for those "I have exactly 7 minutes before my next meeting" moments. Now, about those prices - they're playing in the "prime SF real estate" league, which is a tier above the regular "I guess this is San Francisco" pricing. And while most of the staff could teach a masterclass in customer service (shoutout to the gentleman who served me - impeccably courteous despite overcharging me), a few team members seem to have graduated from the "you're lucky to be here" school of hospitality. But here's the thing - much like how we tolerate the FiDi lunch rush for those perfect fog-free days, these minor gripes don't overshadow the overall experience. Between the quality of its offerings and the prime Jackson Street location, Postscript earns its place in the city's competitive café scene. Just maybe double-check your receipt - your end-of-month expense report will thank you later."

Allie G. "I'd been to the Tasman Dr location of 1 Oz Coffee and absolutely loved that one, so I was excited to see this new location open. I visited on a Saturday morning, and found it pretty busy. The interior was minimalistic, with pastel green walls and some high-top seating. They also had a (dog-friendly) outdoor seating area in the front. I ordered an Iced Cardamom Rose Latte, Burrata Toast (no prosciutto), and a Pistachio Filled Croissant to-go. Service was lukewarm, but pretty quick. The Iced Cardamom Rose Latte was tasty in a floral way, and had a good amount of caffeine for its small size. The Burrata Toast was also good, although pretty messy to eat. The bread was a thick slice and tasted very healthy, and the burrata was delicious. The Pistachio Filled Croissant wasn't my favorite. I'd tried a Pistachio Berry Croissant at their other location, which rocked my world, and this one just didn't compare. The filling was concentrated at the center and was super sweet, so I either got no filling in a bite or way too much. The texture also just wasn't as good. I also wish their to-go boxes were a little deeper, so they wouldn't smush the item inside. Overall, still a cute coffee shop, but I had a better experience at the Tasman Dr location!"

Home Coffee Roasters came up as one of the highest and most rated (4.5 stars & ~850 reviews) shops in the area. The shop is pretty cute overall with standard coffee shop seating and beans and other knick knacks for sale. I ordered a cappuccino and my girlfriend had the London fog latte. The London fog was fairly good, with a strong tea note and sweetened nicely. The cappuccino was quite the disappointment - the espresso tasted burnt with no other flavors to note. The smoothies were light and refreshing, the hustle was heavy on the fig jam, which overpowered the other flavors but was still delicious, and I absolutely loved the sausage egg and cheese biscuit, as simple as it was, the breakfast treat satisfying and made with tasty ingredients, even the bread itself was better than expected, light and fluffy, and slightly buttery. Service was more than sufficient, and our order was ready in less than 10 minutes. Nothing too sweet, which is good, but the flavors were kinda muddled. I wouldn't have minded more cardamom in my Cardamom Orange Latte, as I could barely taste it. The Meh:*50¢ oat milk tax =(*If you like your coffees tepid (at best!) then this is the place for you. Admittedly, I don't like it as hot as my beloved--who loves it lava hot!--but even my tender baby mouth could easily handle this room temp brew. *The employee at the register misheard me (slip off the finger?) and ordered the wrong pastry, as I wanted the Savory Pull-apart Bread, but ended up with Pistachio Berry Croissant. Which was whatever, I don't like to make a fuss, but they forgot about the order and I had to stand there for five minutes staring at the top of the barista's head as I was trying to get their attention. *Place gets very busy, especially on weekends, as we were there just a few minutes after opening and within twenty minutes the place was filled. The Ugly:*Speaking of the Baristas, the two I dealt with were very too-cool-for-school, which frankly kinda goes with the hoity nature of the business. Very lived-in, casual vibe. Large parklet. Why the wrap around bench too high for the tables? Inside is the order counter, friendly service. The only inside seating booths for those often cold mornings are taken up with supply boxes, etc.On to the main event, delicious Avocado Toast. A generous slice of artisan bread topped with avocado slices, olive oil & everything seasoning adding to the flavor profile. I know finding perfectly ripe avocados is difficult, so no strikes, but the fruit was one day short of readiness. I added scrambled egg & bacon. Couldn't tell that they microwaved cause there's no kitchen. Bacon was yummy, good balance of crispy & chewy. My London Fog was well prepared. Another minor gripe, everything packaged to-go, cardboard box & disposable recyclable fork & knife. Trying to cut the toast in half produced a mess looking like a rabid raccoon attack.
