We came here twice and the drinks did not disappoint! One of the rare speakeasy that creates tasty yet unique Asian liquor cocktails. My boyfriend and I literally got six drinks because there are so many options and we loved each drink. They also change their seasonal special menu once a while. We tried the Christmas special previously and this time, it is lunar new year themed. Out of six drinks, our favorites have to be: monkey king and guan yin. Their hot and sour cocktail is also quite unique and on my top favorites last time. Highly recommend! * special thanx to Andrew, our wonderful bartender of the night. He made us feel so welcome and we had a great chat throughout the busy night. Shout out to him and hope to see him again at our next visit.

What a cool speakeasy. I was impressed that they were adament about knowing the password to get in, saw a group get turned away when they didn't know it. Helped keep the bar from getting overcrowded. It was very easy to find a seat and get the servers attention despite it being a Friday night. The drinks here are delicious, unique, and presented well. I started with The Captain because I'm a sucker for black sesame. Kind of like a black sesame infused old fashioned. At another point, I also got the Hot and Sour which was also good and kind of different. They used hot pot paste as one of the ingredients ... and you can taste it. Adds a savoriness to the drink that I liked. They put effort into all the drinks and use some unique glassware. Lots of cups are pig-themed (probably due to the bar name) and they'll add other unique flares as well. One of my friends drinks had an ice cube that they stamped with the bar logo in front of us. Remember to visit their Instagram before going to get their entry password.

This is an awesome place! Check their IG first for the password, otherwise, can't get inside even if you give it your best charm. Just take the extra simple step and you're in!The drinks are great and entertaining! What I posted is just a sampling, can't ruin the surprise so you get to experience it first hand. Didn't get to try their food as we ate sushi a few doors down before coming here. This is certainly worth a visit!

Finally got to try the Blind Pig! It is an intimate bar, and you need to get the password from their Instagram page. The drinks here are creative, delicious, and beautifully presented! I was intrigued by the drinks with hot pot flavors in it, and the hot and sour drink was the star of the show!!

The cocktails are AMAZING with a lot of attention to detail! I was a little skeptical about the ingredients on the menu at first since they didn't seem like they would work ... like mapo tofu and hot pot paste?! These drinks are all Asian-inspired and we definitely wanted to try them all. Service is on point. This place is also super fun ..it's small so you might have to wait if it's super busy. There are NO RESERVATIONS. And you need the password to get in (check out their IG for it). Highly recommend!

Date: Friday, November 22nd, 2024Time: around 10:45pmParty of: 2What: After Dinner Drinks*The Captain ($17)*Monk Pig ($17)*Mocktail ($13)I adore speakeasies. Partly cuz I'm old and I like the chill vibe. After dinner nearby, a friend and I decided to check out Bling Pig. We found the password on IG, so it was easy to get in. It was raining that night, so not too busy. We easily grabbed two seats at the bar.I'm a whisky girl, so I started with the captain (duck fat washed) - highland park whiskey, barcardi 8y, fig, black sesame, vermouth, cynar, manzanilla, bitters. I wasn't sure about the wash or the fig. I don't like my cocktails sweet or savory. Surprising, this was very balanced. Kinda like a more complex mellow manhattan. My second beverage was the monk pig - michter's bourbon, peach, fortify lemon, cumin, amaro, lato strawberry, trinity bitters. I'm not gonna lie. I only ordered this cuz in came in one of their pig presentations. But it was a good follow up to my previous drink. And I stayed in the dark realm of beverages. The bartender was friendly and sweet. We chatted up with him a bit. The atmosphere was dark as speakeasies are. They actually have their menu in several variations - the typical list, on a fan, and on the screens in the bar. So you can find their offerings in many spots.A fun impromptu cocktail stop.REVIEW #3631

Blind Pig is a speakeasy bar located in the lower Nob Hill area of San Francisco and was opened by mixologist Derrick Li. The bar specializes in Asian-inspired cocktails and includes some references to the characters in the Journey of the West novel/show including the monkey and the pig. They do not allow reservations and it's not a big space so during busier times you might have to wait a while in line like we did. They require a password to get in which you can find on their Instagram page.We were interested in pretty much all the drinks on their menu so between the five of us we ordered as many as we could. Out of all the drinks we ordered our favorite was by far the hot and sour; it was smooth because of the milk-wash and we liked the layers of flavors. I also liked the captain, monk pig, and the cold chrysanthemum tea.Although it's said to be an Asian-inspired cocktail bar, the only interior decor that had something related was the hi-chew wall on the window. Other than that, the lights were dim and the walls were bare with only a few portraits. Also, shoutout to Andrew who was basically the bouncer, the server, and the bartender. He came to take our order and even though it was very busy he made sure we were okay and served the drinks in a timely manner.

Checked out the Blind Pig over Halloween weekend, and it was pretty packed! It's a small spot, so with the crowd, it got a bit loud--definitely not one of those quieter, chill speakeasy vibes if that's what you're after. We managed to snag seats at the bar, and the staff got to us pretty quickly, which was nice.Tried a couple of their cocktails, and I was pretty happy with both. Nothing mind-blowing, but solid drinks at reasonable prices ($16-18). Service was decent, nothing to complain about. Overall, I'd say it felt more like a small cocktail bar than a true speakeasy, and while it's not my top pick, I still think it's worth a visit. If you're looking for a low-key place to grab some good drinks, it'll do the trick

At first glance, it didn't quite feel like a speakeasy. There was a 15-20 person line on a Thursday night, and I could hear the music from outside. There's also no need for the passcode, and an inconspicuous 'BlindPig' sign tells you where the bar is next to some windows covered in wallpaper. It's easy to miss the storefront as the entrance is actually right on Polk Street! There's a ton of really tasty asian-inspired cocktails to try. I tried my friend's Blind Pig, which was tasty although didn't have a strong Mapo Tofu taste. I ordered the Monkey King -- a light citrus, sweet drink with Rice Baijiu. That being said, the space is relatively small, dark, and doesn't show much for asian-inspired decor. I was impressed by the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff who ran between the door and bar constantly.

===TL;DR===- Purple pig steals my corn- Hot and sour: the best - Blind pig - Monk pig: no thank you - Piggy - TP Gimlet- Greenland pig - White dragon horse- Monkey king - The Captain- Not the best area for parking ===TMI===One of my favorite speakeasy in the bay rn since they're Journey to the West concept with a focus on the piggy character. Walk-ins only with a password entrance. They change their passwords weekly so be sure to check their instagram for the password. Located on Polk street but at the cusp of the ghetto (tell me why so many speakeasy are in these areas). Sometimes they take awhile to get to the door cause either a) they're busy as they're ran by 2 bartenders mainly and b) it might be a full house so you'll have to queue up outside. Once you're in, it's an enclosed atmosphere with dim lightings (as speakeasies should be imo) with one Asian candy inspired wall next to the door. Every drink was amazing. Don't let the ingredients and description deter you from trying them - trust me and trust them, their execution is exquisite. To highlight a few: - hot and sour (most surprised since I was expecting the hot pot flavor to be strong but it wasn't, couldn't even tell it was in there and this is one of my favorite concoction)- blind pig (can't really taste the mapo tofu, another delicious one)- lastly Greenland's pig (if you're a whiskey sour lover like me, this is their twist of it)- least favorite was monk pig.. to my surprise I have nothing against cumin since I love spicy Asian food so it's not foreign but when it was in this drink, all I smell and taste was BO so it wasn't enjoyable for meS/O to Leo and Andrew for holding this place down as always and providing the tastiest drinks! They already have a sister restaurant called Dragon Horse and it sounds like their plan is to eventually have a restaurant/ bar for each of the characters - I can't wait!! If you like Viridian in Oakland, give them a go. Nothing but skillfully crafted drinks and a good time here.
